LUCY
F eeling comfortable in Carter’s presence, I shoot a little glance at him in the darkened car.
“What?” he asks, a small smile curving up his full lips that I suddenly want to kiss again.
“Nothing,” I mumble.
“No, you have to tell me now. Do I have bedhead?”
Snickering, I shake my head. “I was just thinking you’re more my type than Steele or Jason. Looks-wise.”
Carter’s smile widens at my words. The chemistry between us crackles in the air.
He reaches over to rest his hand lightly on my thigh, making me shiver at the contact.
I turn to look at him, noticing how his eyes have darkened with desire when he glances at me briefly before looking back at the road.
“So, if I’m your type looks-wise, what else about me do you like?” he asks, his voice low and husky.
Biting my lip, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks, I murmur, “Well, you’re funny and charming, and you make me feel comfortable.”
“And what do you feel when I kiss you?”
My heart races as I recall our heated kiss from earlier. “I feel...alive.”
“That’s a big compliment.”
“It’s true. How do you feel about me being with Steele and Jason?” I blurt out, needing to hear it from his mouth before I even start to process this.
He ponders for more than a few seconds, which sends me into a tailspin of panic. But then he smiles and sighs.
“At first, I wasn’t going to pursue you because of them.
But when I spoke to you in the kitchen the other night, I knew I was lost to you.
You captured me and dragged me into your web.
” He chuckles to make light of it but then shoots me a sly smile.
“I jerked off in the shower thinking about you that night.”
“What?” I croak, my face hotter than the sun.
“Oh, yeah. Fuck, it was hot.”
“Oh...uhm...” I have no idea what to say. This was unexpected.
“Take the compliment, sweetheart,” he murmurs. “I want to do it again, only this time I want you to watch me.”
“Err...”
“Not now. Soon.”
“Okay.” My voice cracks under the pressure.
Not that I feel pressured, but it’s a lot.
I’ve had sex with four guys in total. Now, they expect me to have sex with all three of them all at once, and that is a lot to take in.
Who goes where? How do they decide who goes first?
Second? Last? Do I need to shower in between, or will they wear a condom?
So many questions. Maybe I need to watch some porn where the woman is with more than one guy.
That thought is quickly squashed when Carter pulls up outside my building. “Can I come up?”
Shaking my head, I smile to soften the blow.
“You sure? I want to make sure you get to your door safe and sound. Steele will gut me like a fish if anything happens to you on my watch.” His laugh is gentle, and I don’t feel like he is angling for anything, so I relent. I really like him, and I want to get to know him better.
“Can you cook?” I ask. “I’m famished.”
“Does my answer depend on whether you’ll let me up?”
“Yep.”
“In that case, I’m an excellent cook,” he declares. “And that is the actual God’s honest truth.”
Giggling, I throw caution to the wind. If I don’t, I will end up losing three gorgeous men who seem to want to be with me. “Well, give me a quick kiss, and I’ll let you come up for a few minutes.”
His face lights up at my statement, and he takes full advantage of the moment to press his mouth to mine.
“I know it’s not much, but it will have to do until you’re inside,” he murmurs against my mouth before kissing me again, wordlessly informing me that he won’t rush things.
I am more than okay with that. I enjoy kissing him. He lights a fire in my belly, and my body is wildly attracted to him. My mind is catching up, and my heart...well, I guess time will tell.
Slowly opening my eyes when we are part, I smile shyly at him. “Come on up, Mr. Cook.”
“Only Jase and Steele are allowed to call me Mr. Cook. You can call me...” He thinks about that for a moment. “Big boy.”
Snorting at the absurdity of the nickname, I shake my head. “No! I am not calling you that. I don’t even know if it’s true!”
“You think I’d hang around with Gigantor and the Storm if I didn’t?” he scoffs, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
Guffawing loudly, which is something that I can’t stop even if I wanted to, I reply, “Big words, big boy . Guess we’ll find out.”
He shakes his head, laughing uncontrollably. “You’ve given me the green light to come up for a few minutes, so I’m taking advantage. Let’s go.”
We exit the car, and he grabs my hand when he reaches me on the sidewalk.
“I have given you the green light to come up for a few minutes to cook. Nothing more.”
“I can live with that, sweetheart, but can we make a formal date for tomorrow night? We’re on the road soon, and I want to lock you down before we go.”
Smiling secretly to myself, I rest my head on his shoulder as we head into the elevator of my apartment building. “You’ve already locked me down, Carter.”
He kisses the top of my head softly. “Still, a date?”
“Yes. Tomorrow.”
