I woke up surrounded by Titus’s scent, but was alone in the room. I vaguely recalled him bringing me here last night. It was very late when we’d come back to this house. I’d been too tired to function, too exhausted to face the others.
But it ended up being a non-issue. Once we arrived, no one was around anyway.
The place had been silent and felt abandoned, even though a fire had still been burning low in the hearth.
Titus didn’t seem to care. He took me to his room, tucking the two of us into his bed.
I’d fallen asleep almost instantly.
But now I was awake and Titus was gone. In the daylight, it was easier to take in the space around me.
Damen’s home was Victorian-style. But he seemed to have no decorative rules with the private bedrooms.
Titus’s room was twice the size of the bedroom I’d grown up in, and my adoptive parents had been well-off. My room had consisted of a fireplace, sitting area, walk-in closet, along with a queen-sized bed. But it was small compared to this space.
Two large windows and light gray walls decorated with abstract artwork surrounded me. Across the large bed hung a television, and there was a metal desk with three monitors on top.
Titus had no blinds on his windows, only airy, elegant curtains folded over to the sides. And that was the reason why the sun was blinding me now.
I couldn’t even focus on the rest of the room—my day was already ruined.
“No…” I groaned.
This was hell. I already felt like crap, my head still foggy from the night before. And now there was light.
Someone better have made coffee, or everyone would die. I wouldn’t argue with an offering of bacon, either.
I covered my eyes and stepped away from the bed, only to fall onto the darker-gray carpet. It happened so fast I hadn’t had time to shout.
Spotting the cause of my clumsiness, I glared at the small pile of clothing.
Titus must have laid something out for me. Which was nice. Although, why he put them on the floor and not on one of the many plush chairs that decorated his room, I had no idea.
These boys…
Still, the fact that he had been thoughtful brushed away my annoyance. Pushing myself to my knees, I pulled the clothing to me, curious about his choices.
My face warmed.Hello Kittyboxers and a plain white V-neck tee. I had no idea they even madeSan-xin this size.
Then, before I could even lower the underwear, Miles walked into the room.
“Oh.” He stopped. Surprise flashed across his face. “You’re awake!”
“The sun.” My voice was scratchy, and I nodded toward the windows. “Make it go away!”
Miles’s lips quirked, and he closed the door before stepping toward a panel on the wall.
“I would do almost anything for you, mon rêve,” he said, typing. The room darkened as heavy blinds lowered over the glass. “But this is as far as I can go to stop the sun from shining.”
I could see again!
I looked back to Miles, and my breath caught. Despite his playful words, his face was serious. Now he stood, bracing himself against the wall, his expression cautious.
I hadn’t forgotten last night. I’d yelled at Damen and Julian—and by extension, him. Titus and I had already spoken, but was Miles angry?
I hid my face behind the red-bowed kitten. I was still so embarrassed.
“Don’t hide from me.” He had moved closer. “And especially not behind those.” He jerked the boxers out of my hand and tossed them to the side.
