I don’t give him time to answer, or for me to rethink this plan through. I just run off as fast as I can, hoping not to bump into anybo—
SLAM!
I crash headlong into another chest and bounce off hard.
Thankfully, whoever I almost mowed down grabs me. I quickly glance behind me and check to make sure that the door closed when I sprinted out.
Phew.
Door closed.
Another cat-astrophe averted.
I would mentally laugh at my repeated lame pun; except I finally look at who I bumped into. . .
Again.
That’s right—Bellamy.
Did Ann Putnam make the last descendent to have magic be doubly cursed because surely no one has bad luck like this.
“As much as I really would like to hang around and talk—oh, that’s right. I don’t. Bye!”
Bellamy’s face blanks at my outright bitchy dismissal, and I chuckle as I jog away.
He swivels around, anger clouding his enticing face, but I’m already rounding the corner. I don’t stop until I get to my car, praying that Bellamy isn’t following me, or worse—going into my dressing room. I jerk the car into drive and speed over to the windows.
Fuck!
Which one is mine?
I mentally count the doors in the corridor and the corresponding windows and stop below the one I think is mine. Praying that I’m right, I softly call out for Kai. When nothing happens and no one else pokes out a head, I call a little louder. I have a small moment of panic when nothing happens until my familiar peers out the window pane.
“Ready for me?” he calls.
His words send a shiver down my spine and straight to my ovaries.
“Hurry up!” I urge, looking around wildly for other people.
I don’t even bother looking for cameras. I know they’re there, I just hope no one is currently monitoring them. By some magic, Kai manages to shimmy out of the window and I bodily shove him into my car. Stepping on the gas, I peel out of the network parking lot like I’m in a race. I Tokyo Drift the shit out of the corner and barrel down the street, leaving the building in my wake. Poor Kai is sprawled in the back, clutching the seat for dear life.
It would be comical if I couldn’t see his dick.
And why the fuck is it at half-mast?
Apparently, Kai gets off to this shit, but my nerves can’t. Gram-Gram is going to have to make me a sedative tea A.S.A.P. I speed home, praying to the long-forgotten goddess of witches to keep the cops at bay. By some miracle, she hears me and grants my wish. I make the thirty-minute drive in seventeen.
“Come on,” I command Kai, trying not to stare at his impressive cock. “My gram-gram might have some answers and maybe some clothes.”
We walk into the house and I peek around. I really don’t want to deal with my mom or her mother knowing Gram-Gram won’t ask as many questions as the other two.
“Gram!” I holler like a heathen.
“Evanora!” she screams right back from the solarium.
I charge into the room as she demands to know if I made it to the next round.
“Yeah, I won,” I throw out absently. “Gram—”
