Page 27 of Her Bully Alpha (Honeycomb Valley Alphas #1)
I glanced at Sam from across the living room. She was wearing a deep red dress that hugged her tightly. It was a long dress with long sleeves, perfect for the cold weather we were having now. She looked stunning in that outfit, and the baby bump was more prominent now. She was seven months ago and perfectly healthy.
I couldn't help but smile, thinking how she had changed my world so much and filled it with so much joy at the same time. I didn't think it was possible to love someone more each day, but I did.
"Are you still there?" Henrik waved a hand in front of my face, breaking my stare. I looked at him, and he gave me a face. "What?"
"Can you hold a conversation without looking like you're stripping my sister bare in your head."
Aaron spit his drink onto the counter and choked. Frank started patting his back as they all began to laugh.
I scowled. "I was looking at everyone, not just your sister."
Henrik snorted. "No, you weren't. You were staring at my sister."
I rolled my eyes. "Quit acting like she isn't my wife. If I want to stare at her, I can."
Henrik made a face and poured himself a drink. "I need more liquor if I'm going to be stuck watching you lust after my sister all afternoon."
I couldn't help but smirk at him. "You act like I'm going to mount her right on this island."
Henrik took a swig of his drink. "With the way you were staring at her, yes. I could see it happening."
I wanted to be a smartass and tell him I had his sister just last night on the counter and that she was the naughty one of us two. She was frisky, and even more so as the pregnancy went on. She was the one jumping into the shower while I was in it. She was the one pulling her pants down and bending over in front of me, waving her ass.
I took a sip of my drink, looking back at Sam. She was talking to Katie with a hand on her stomach. It sent a spark of happiness through me.
"You've made her happy," Henrik said, looking at her. I could see the concern in his eyes. Ever since the incident in front of Katie's lab, he's been a little more on edge.
"I'm trying," I said. It was something I tried to do every day. I wanted Sam to always stay happy and continue smiling.
"Has she had any more visions?" Frank asked as he leaned onto the counter.
I shook my head. "Her visions have been pretty slim." We didn't know why, but she hadn't had one since that day. A part of me was grateful. I was terrified of her being frozen again. But Sam had been working on her magic and learning ways to get control.
"We should open presents!" Kirk yelled loudly, making all of us turn our attention to the rest of the group. Kirk stood with a present in his hand, waving it in the air.
"If you break that. Kirk. I swear to god I will snap every finger on your hands," Nessa growled at her twin. "Put it down."
Kirk rolled his eyes at Nessa in a taunt, but as Nessa pulled herself up, he quickly handed the gift to Sam.
Sam smirked.
I enjoyed seeing Sam fit into a good relationship with Nessa and Kirk. I knew she was nervous about it in the beginning, but I was pretty sure she called Nessa often, and they had gotten close.
"Wait. We were supposed to bring presents?" Frank said, looking utterly confused next to me. "No one told me I was supposed to bring you guys a present."
"You're an idiot," Maddox said. "Who comes to a baby shower and doesn't bring a gift? Do you live under a rock?"
Aaron started to laugh, pouring himself a drink. "That's Frank for you."
"Are you guys going to join us or just all stand together looking broody?" Sam asked, raising an eyebrow at us all. I couldn't help but smile, proud she wasn't scared of any of us. She spoke her mind even though we were all Alphas.
Her eyes dropped to me and narrowed.
"This is her party," I tell them. "You should probably listen to her."
We all moved out of the kitchen towards the living room. I walked over, sitting next to Sam with all the gifts around her. I watched as Henrik took a seat on one edge of the couch and Katie sat on the other. I couldn't help but think of what Sam had told me earlier when Henrik first arrived, and Katie was here helping set up.
"Katie has a crush on my brother," Sam whispered. "And I'm going to play matchmaker."
I had thought she was kidding, but Sam had been trying all afternoon to stick them together, and I didn't think Henrik approved. He hadn't said anything, but he kept glaring at Sam, and Sam acted as if she didn't see it.
"Katie, would you mind scooting over? I want to leave the open presents on that cushion." Sam pointed to the cushion Katie was sitting on, which would mean Katie had to scoot closer to Henrik.
Henrik glared at his sister, and Katie scooted closer to him. "Sam, you don't need half the couch for your gifts."
Sam glared at her brother. "It's my party, so hush. I can say where I want to put my own gifts."
Henrik grumbled and pulled himself off the couch, walking away. I could see Katie frowned, looking slightly hurt, but quickly forced a smile. But I could see her eyes looking over towards the kitchen at Henrik.
I leaned closer to Sam and whispered softly. "Sweetie, as much as you may want those two to be together, maybe you shouldn't be pushing so hard to make it happen."
Sam frowned at me, and I took her hand and squeezed it. "It's clearly making Katie uncomfortable as much as your brother."
Sam glanced at Katie, who was looking longingly at Henrik between looking at the gifts. Henrik now stood in the kitchen, pouring himself another drink. If Sam kept this up, Henrik was going to end up intoxicated.
"Let things happen how they should," I said softly and leaned back. Sam sighed and looked back at everyone. "Alright, let's open these gifts. First one, Katie."
I watched as Sam opened each gift. We got clothes and different baby toys. The guys gave Sam a massage and some homemade coupons to watch the baby.
"We are never redeeming things," I said as I waved them at the guys.
"Why not?" Aaron asked. "You don't trust us with your children?"
I snorted. "No. Not at all."
Everyone chuckled as Sam finished opening the last of her gifts.
After everything was opened, we got to eat. We have served burgers and hot dogs. Sam made potato salad and a fruit salad.
I dished up two plates and brought Sam hers as she remained seated in her chair.
Sam leaned against me as we watched everyone grab food. I kissed the top of her head and held her close to me. I placed a hand on her stomach, feeling the baby moving around. Sam chuckled, putting her hand over mine. "She is so active."
I nodded in agreement. The movement meant she was healthy, and Sam was healthy, which was all that mattered to me right now. We had just found out we were having a girl a few weeks ago, but decided to keep it between us until she was born.
"Did you want some potato salad?" Katie looked at Henrik with wishful eyes, and Henrik shook his head at her.
"No, I'm good."
Katie chewed on her lower lip briefly before setting the bowl aside. "So, Henrik, I'm going to an event next week with a couple of friends, and I need someone to join me. Would you be free?"
Sam's fingers tightened over mine. "Oh my god," she whispered. "She's actually asking him out."
I had a feeling Sam had a part to do with this.
Henrik looked at Katie and scanned her. He held a blank expression when he shook his head at her. "No, I'm busy."
Katie frowned, looking hurt, but quickly shook it off. "That's okay. It’s understandable. Are you too busy for coffee? I'll be in…"
"Katie," Henrik's jaw clenched a little as he looked at her. "No offense, but I don't have time to waste with you."
I could feel Sam tense up in my arms, and Katie's eyes widened slightly in shock and the hurt flashed over her face. She swallowed and took a step back. "Oh…I..understand."
"I'm gonna…" Sam tried to pull away, but I tightened my hold on her, keeping her pressed against my chest.
"Sam," I softly whispered into her ear. "You can't butt in."
"He's rejecting her!" Sam snapped back. "He can't..."
"It's his choice," I quickly added. "Henrik can't exactly just date anyone….none of them can…"
I felt her sag slightly as she realized there was no point because Henrik would get assigned someone by Katie. He couldn't date her, and she would only end up hurt.
I kissed the top of Sam's head. "I know you want this to work out, but that doesn't seem to be the case here."
"But she likes him," she whispered back.
"And sometimes things don't work out," I added.
Katie made her way out of the kitchen, and I let go of Sam, who moved to follow after her. I pulled myself up, walked over to Henrik, and sighed. "You could have been nicer. She clearly has a crush on you, Henrik."
Henrik glared at me. "You really wanna talk about letting people down gently? Shall we discuss how you rejected my sister?"
I scowled. It was only a few weeks ago when Sam accidentally told him that I had rejected her all those years ago, and I was pretty sure Henrik was going to choke me to death.
I waved a hand, not wanting to start anything. I was staying out of whatever was going on between him and Katie. It was better that way, anyway. I had enough on my plate.
Aaron walked over, grabbing himself another burger. "Are you going to eat or just drool over all the food?" Aaron hooked an arm over Henrik.
"Where did your wife disappear to?" Frank asked as he came over for another plate.
"I'm not sure," I glanced down the hallway, expecting her to come back. I imagine that Katie had decided to leave, and Sam was trying to convince her to stay.
"I have to get going, and I would like to thank her before I leave." Frank said.
“I’ll go find her,” I said before I headed down the hall as the guys started to chat with Henrik. I found her leaning against the wall. I paused next to her. "What are you doing?"
She sighed. "Katie left. She said she had stuff to finish at the lab. I tried to convince her to stay, but she said she didn't want to."
"I'm sorry," I said, hooking her into my arm and kissing the top of her head.
She leaned into me. "I'm thankful for you. I was just thinking about everything we had to overcome, and I look forward to our future."
"You want to know what I'm thinking about?" I asked as I leaned closer, pressing her flat against the wall.
She raised an eyebrow, lust filling her eyes. "What? What's going through your mind?"
"Bending you over and yanking this dress up." I grabbed at it, ruffling it in my fist. "And bending you over."
"With a house full of guests?" she asked, reaching a hand up and raking it down my shirt. "That sounds….naughty."
I smirked. "I hope so." I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the stairs to head upstairs. She giggled as she followed me, checking behind herself as she did.
"Jay, we have people here. We shouldn't."
"Says the woman who followed me." I grabbed her at the top of the stairs and pressed her against the wall as I kissed her deeply. "All you have to say is no."
She bit at my lower lip and glared at me. I grabbed her ass and hoisted her up. She tasted like candy and cinnamon.
"Oh god, this is bad," she whispered as I ran a hand up her dress, pulling it up.
"But so good at the same time," I chuckled as I turned us and took her into the first open door, which was the bathroom to the right of us. I kicked the door behind me and placed her on the sink.
I cupped her face, kissing her, devouring her like I had been deprived my whole life. I yanked her dress up further, and Sam quickly worked on my pants. Neither of us were patient.
I slid a hand under her underwear, finding her soaking wet. I slid a finger into her, and Sam moaned loudly. I quickly placed a hand over her mouth and smirked. "You might want to be quiet, or everyone downstairs will hear you."
She bit softly onto my fingers, and I thrust another finger into her. Her head fell back as I ripped her underwear clean off, tossing them aside.
I moved my pants down, pulling my cock out. I slid it against her entrance and slid into her in one quick motion. Sam moaned softly against my hand as I slid her closer. She hooked her legs around me as I thrust.
"Oh god," she moaned a little louder, her fingers tightly gripping on my shoulder as I slid in and out of her slowly. I felt her bite down on my fingers, and I lost my control to be slow. I thrust deeply into her, and Sam cried out, her body clenching hard around my dick.
I felt myself cum and leaned against her. Sam panted against my neck and softly chuckled. "I'm going to need to change now."
I snorted as I looked down at her underwear and her dress, which was now ripped as well.
I cupped her face and kissed her softly. "Or, I'll tell everyone you were getting tired, and the party's over." I leaned over, nibbling on her earlobe. "And you can strip down and wait for me in bed for round two?"
Her laugh filled the room. "Deal."
