“Nothing.”

“Hmm, that was quite a quick reply for just nothing.”

Dammit. Nothing gets past him.

“And this is why I’m going to start ignoring your calls.”

“Because I’m too perceptive?”

“Because you’re a pain in the butt.”

“You love me, really.”

I laugh. Kay must have forgotten about dinner because I can now hear music playing. I could talk to Bastian about what happened.

“You’ve gone quiet, Mik.”

“B, something happened today.”

“What?”

“Tyler. He’s here, and I kissed him.”

I hear an intake of breath.

“Dude, backtrack for a second. You mean TylerTyler?”

“Yeah.”

“What do you mean he’s there?”

“I guess he lives in Stillwater. I don’t know.” I tell him how I got lost and found shelter from the rain in the soup kitchen.

Bastian laughs. “They thought you didn't have a home? Man, that’s priceless. Stone’s gonna have a field day when I tell him.”

“Yeah, yeah, just don’t tell him the rest.”

“The kiss.”

“Yeah.”

“How the fuck did that happen? When was the last time you saw him? Has to be a gazillion years, right? And you weren’t sure it was him. But, dude, how do you go from zero to kissing?”

“In the rain.”

“Fuck.”

I run my hands through my still-damp hair.

“I don’t know what I was thinking. One moment we were arguing while the rain poured down, and the next, my body just moved. I forgot about everything. It was like we were back at school in front of the gates, and I wanted to kiss him so badly, but this time there was no one else around, so I went for it.”

“Wow, what are you going to do?”

“I don’t know. He walked away before we could talk.”

“If he lives in Stillwater, you may bump into him again.”

“I know.”
