I have a favour to ask and it’s a bit of a long story, so bear with me. I haven’t been on here a lot over the past few years, but I know how special this space is to you guys and I hope you’ll get behind me. You might have seen a few headlines and social media posts, but here’s the full story:

Lori and I faked that stuff for the media – the photos on her feed, the kisses at the finish line. We weren’t really together. But I was falling in love with her anyway.

Then I joined her team and she knocked me off my bike – literally, but she also knocked me on my arse because I’d never met anyone who made me feel this way.

I thought she’d never be interested in me.

She’s under a huge amount of pressure (which she bears so beautifully). We ended up with this mess.

The worst part is that she was smart enough to suggest we could make the relationship real, but I was too worried about it all falling apart – and then it fell apart anyway and I lost my friend, my online training partner, the brightest part of the past year.

I have to get her back and I need your help. She’s racing from Lyon tomorrow. Can someone who’s spectating write a sign and make sure she sees it? I think it should say:

LoonieDunes became a canoe instructor mountain-bike tour guide and the spiritual leader of the Lori Gallagher fan army.

After she got her shit together again, Lori decided to move to Belgium for all the chocolate and waffles and beer.

She got a lease on a place in the Ardennes with three bedrooms.
