GRACE
“You used our code. I thought I taught you better than that.”
The hair on the back of my neck stood at attention. I froze.
“I told you to go far away, Gracie.” His gruff voice caressed my skin. I closed my eyes and sucked in a deep breath.
I kept my right hand on the bench, and the other hand went to my hip.
Before my fingers curled around the handle, a massive force pushed me into the workbench.
I grunted as pain spiraled through my gut from the impact.
He wrapped his left arm around me and secured my right arm against my torso as he pulled the knife out of its sheath with the other. He dropped it to the floor.
“No no no, Gracie.” He felt along my thighs and then over to the other one. “You hiding anything else from me.”
His palm grazed my pussy.
I stifled a moan.
“Remember, I’m the one who taught you where to hide your knives …” His hand felt the tip of the little knife holster wrapped around my left thigh, he froze.
The knife was gone.
I used all my power and the leverage.
I grunted and pushed back hard.
He let go for a second.
It was all the time I needed.
I spun around.
I gripped the handle with two fingers.
I plunged the two-inch blade into his side. With any other asshole I’d have given the blade a clockwise turn, but it was Mase. I didn’t intend to kill him.
Mase stumbled back. He felt his side and held his hands up as blood coated his fingers.
“You fucking bitch.” He looked at his fingers again. “You stabbed me”
“Yeah, well, you fucking shot me.” I held the knife at my side. I was ready for him to charge again. “We’re fucking even.”
Mase growled and charged anyway.
He was faster and stronger, which I expected.
“Fuck.” I cursed as he grabbed my bicep and squeezed. My hand went numb and the knife clanked to the ground.
He pushed me against the bench. One hand on my chest, the other gripped my wrist and twisted behind my back. It rested on the bench. He looked down at me.
His eyes stared into mine, drank me in as if they’d never seen me before.
I saw anger and rage in his eyes.
