“Justice,” He stepped closer and took her hand.
“Pleasure,” her voice was deep, but feminine. She carried herself like a lady, but she was a bad ass and you could see the respect the Guardian President had for her.
“Nice to meet you Justice.” Papa Scott shook her hand and then leaned over and kissed it.
I cringed on the inside.
Justice nodded and pulled her hand away.
I hope my dad didn't disrespect them by not approaching their president.
“Please, everyone come in.” My dad motioned and turned around. “Come in and enjoy yourselves. My clubhouse is your clubhouse tonight.”
The President of the Guardians felt in step next to Papa. He turned back to Roe and motioned for her to join him. I caught Justice roll her eyes as they followed.
I giggled.
The crew blended together as the music cranked up.
I stood near the door and watched the procession. They last two Guardians, a female and male stood out front and checked on the bikes.
“Hi.” I walked up on them as they are whispering something to each other. The way they touched each other, the seemed like they were more than fellow club members.
“Jeez,” The guy turned to me. “You scared me.” He held his hand over his heart and grinned down at me.
“I’m sorry.” I giggled.
The girl had jet-black hair with pink streaks. She stepped forward. She stood a few inches taller than me, but she wasn’t much older than me.
“Oh, don’t worry about him. He’s scared of kittens.” She shook her head and stuck out a hand. “I’m Dana.”
“Grace.” I shook her hand. I stood over the bike and ran my hand over the pink stripe on the front panel. “I love your bike.”
“Do you ride?” She asked.
“Yeah.” I pointed to my graduation present Papa gave me. Although I’d yet to take it out solo. It sat inside of the garage. It was chromed out, but with a matte black fuel tank and fenders.
“A Softtail.” The guy nodded. “I’m impressed. James.” He extended his hand.
We shook hands.
James hitched up his baggy jeans and went down the line checking on the bikes. His cut seemed baggy on him, too.
“Is he your tail gunner?” I asked.
“Yeah, we both are.” Dana leaned on her bike and watched James do all the work. “We don’t always ride together.”
“You’re a member of the Guardians.”
“Yes, and no.” She stood up and showed me her patch. “I’m a Lady Guardian. We’re our own club, with separate membership, separate rules, with sort of a mutually beneficial relationship with Guardian membership and when shit goes down, we are one unit.”
“That’s so cool.”
“What’s a young girl like you doing around a bunch of rowdy bikers?” James came back wiping his hands on his bandana.
“I grew up around these guys.” I said. “Papa Scott took me in when my dad died. He was a tail gunner, too.”
“Wait.” James held his hand up. “Your dad was Darryl Smith.”
