Page 50 of Grace's Redemption
Dana had already mounted her bike and started the engine.
“Don’t worry Gracie.” He patted my hand. “The Guardians got you.”
* * *
I didn’t rememberthe ride, but I must have held on. If I had fallen off the bike, it would have hurt. I passed out sometime, but woke up to voices around me.
I was laid out on a bed or a couch. I reached down, but someone grabbed my hand.
“You’re going to be fine. We have you all patched up.”
I leaned up.
He pushed my shoulders back down.
“Don’t move. You need your rest.”
I focused on a thin bald black man with the prettiest eyes.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name's MT." He felt my forehead.
“Where am I?” My throat hurt.
“Lady Guardians’ clubhouse, Hampton Road Chapter.” He said.
My face scrunched up.
“I’m a friend of the clubs.” MT nodded. “I help out when people need stitched up.”
I settled back against the couch. It was comfortable.
I touched my hair. It was full of dirt and twigs.
”Get some rest and you can grab a shower later.” He said as he picked a twig out of my hair. “I can’t image what you’ve been through little girl.”
“You don’t want to know.” I grinned.
“Well, we need to know.” I peeked around MT and found four women and two men gathered across the room. They stalked toward me.
I pulled the blanket up to my chin.
“Don’t freak her out.” MT stood and motioned for everyone to give me some space.
“We’re the ones freaking out.” A short black woman with a bun on top of her head and a deep voice didn’t back up. “The daughter of the President of the SouthEast Dragons is in our clubhouse with a bullet wound in her side.” She gestured with her hands. “I think we have a right to know.”
Another woman approached along with Dana. It was nice to see a familiar face. Dana knelt next to me.
“Grace, this is Isis, she is the President of the Hampton Roads chapter of the Lady Guardians.”
Dana held my hand. It felt nice.
“Hi Grace.” Isis smiled. She had a pretty smile. “What happened?”
I frowned.
“I don’t know how much I should tell you.” I took my hand back.
