As soon as his arms are around me, he says, “Oh thank fuck you’re okay.

You did really good, do you know that? Fucking awesome,” he puts me down and steps back and looks over at the guys, “You all did brilliantly. Coen, you carried your whole fucking team. I know I wasn’t the only one yelling at the screen that you should just let them die. ”

Coen’s eyebrows rise in surprise, “Thank you, Sir. I would have let them die, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t consider it, but I didn’t know if we would fail as a team if I let one of them die, and I wasn’t going to risk it.”

Sully nods, “That’s understandable and smart thinking.

Draith was incredibly impressed with the way that you handled yourself, and extremely angry about what Kylen has done.

He told me to tell you that he's going to give you as much time as he can, but that unfortunately he’s still got to follow dragon law, even though he would have done the same thing.

It is more of a formality though, so I don’t imagine that the consequences will be too bad. ”

I sigh, “Oh that’s good. Tell him I said thank you, and that I think he’s awesome.”

Sully grins, “I will. Come on, we can talk in my office just in case anyone decides that they want to interrupt.” We all start to follow Sully, and he looks back over his shoulder at Coen, “Oh, and call me Sully. You’re a part of the family now, there’s no need for formalities.”

Coen grins, “Thank you.”

As we all take seats in Sully’s office, which of course has exactly the right number of chairs, Sully carries on talking, “It looked like your supernatural is getting ready to come out, you were definitely doing things that humans can’t do.”

I grin and stand back up, moving far enough away from everything that I won’t knock anyone or anything over with my wings.

At least I hope I won’t.

I’ve always been pretty clumsy, and I doubt that it is going to change anytime soon. If anything, it’s about to get worse because my wings could definitely cause some accidental damage if I’m not careful.

Before Sully can ask what the hell I’m doing, I call on my magic to shift, allowing my teeth and eyes to shift as well.

Sully’s eyebrows rise, as his smile widens, “Well, look at you!” he then frowns slightly, “You take after your mother, although your wings are a lot different from hers.”

“Is that bad?” I ask.

Sully shakes his head and smiles reassuringly, “No, of course not. They’re beautiful. I only knew your mother, I’ve never met another angel.” His eyes widen as he realizes that he’s been able to mention my mother, “You know who your parents are?” he asks double checking.

I nod, and shift back since I don’t want to try to work out how I’m going to sit on a chair with my wings. I’ll leave that challenge for another day.

“Yeah, we found out while we were at the Choosing. You won’t be able to give us much information about angels then?” I ask.

I suspected as much.

Sully frowns slightly and shakes his head, “No, unfortunately not. That book that I gave you already is all that I know other than little things that I picked up from your mother. I can tell you those, but I can’t say whether those things are angel traits or traits specific to her.”

I smile, “I’d like to know more about her either way.”

“If we have the information then at least we can look out for them as Neith’s magic develops more, and maybe even prepare for them a bit,” Raiden suggests thoughtfully.

Sully nods, “Good idea. Okay, well your mothers’ wings were . . .”

I interrupt him, “I know what they look like, I found a painting of my parents in the castle in the pocket realm, that’s how we found out who they were. With a little bit of help.”

Sully’s eyebrows rise slightly, but he doesn’t ask me any questions as he says, “Good, so you know that they are a different color then.”

I nod, but something else has occurred to me, and now seems more pressing than learning about my mother’s traits that may become mine.

“He’s here,” I say, somewhat vaguely.

Sully nods and replies cautiously, “Yes.” Looking relieved, he adds, “Oh thank fuck for that, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to tell you that.”

“It’s probably because she already knows that he is, so all you’re doing is confirming it,” Doc points out.

Sully nods, and then pauses, “Wait? How the hell do you know that he’s here?”

“Because he’s been a regular at Bobby’s ever since I started working there,” I explain, “he’s the one who sold me my little house.”

Sully chuckles, looking impressed, “The cheeky fucker. Of course, he would find a loophole.”

“A loophole in what?” Coen asks.

“Wait, you didn’t know that he was living in the same town that I was?” I ask.

Sully shakes his head, “No. I haven’t seen him since he brought you over. It wasn’t safe. I knew that he couldn’t get back, and he had to go into hiding to protect you, and himself.”

“Brought me over?” I ask, my eyebrows hitting my hairline because surely he can’t mean what I think he means.

Sully grimaces slightly, “I’m sorry. I should have started from the beginning instead of confusing you further. I just got caught up in the fact that I could actually speak to you about it. I’ve been trying to for years.”

I grin, “Thank you, Sully, I really appreciate that you tried to tell me. But yes, please start from the beginning so that I’m not constantly interrupting you, saying huh.”

He nods and launches right into the explanation, “Right. You were born in Trieneliea. We all knew that you were going to be born before Emeri, your mother, got pregnant. Wynonna saw it, and she also saw that the kingdom would be in turmoil, and that it was very important that you got out. Your parents were told that they would keep you safe in Trieneliea until you were five years old, but if you stayed any longer than the twenty-second day after your fifth birthday, then you and your mother would both die, and the consequences of that would be catastrophic. The Gods did not deem us worthy of knowing what those consequences were.”
