“Dropping you off the other night,” Maxx started and then seemed to reconsider, “I didn’t ask how long you’ve lived at Shepherd’s place. When did you move?”
“Oh, I’m still moving in,” I laughed a bit at my own disorganization, “Actually, cleaning my old place and getting my dresser tonight, and then I’m dropping off the keys and done with my first apartment.”
“Do you need any help?” Maxx asked earnestly.
“No, Roman and Shepherd are helping me get it into the freight elevator there and upstairs at their place.” I sipped my sugary drink and turned the tables. “What about you, where do you live?”
“I’m in Outer Richmond, so the opposite side of the city. But I have my own one bedroom place on the second floor,” Maxx explained. “I lived with my family or in dorms until I got the job with SFPD. It’s nice having my own space.”
“But…” Considering the way Max peered out the window at those words, I could sense the but. “It gets lonely, huh?”
We both nodded at the mixed emotions of feeling independent but not having anyone to come home to. He clearly wanted a change of subject, so I threw him a bone.
“It was a lot of fun at the club with you,” I bit my lip as Maxx’s eyes went impossibly darker. “Want to do it again sometime?”
“Hmmm, that depends,” his deep melodic voice rumbled out slowly, “Are we negotiating me topping you on my own, or me bottoming again?”
By the way his inflection didn’t change, I had to hazard a guess that both ideas turned him on, but I wanted something in particular.
“I would like you to try topping me for a scene. See the other side of power exchange and what you like?”
“Don’t know abouttrying, I’d ratherdo, but I get what you're saying,” Maxx tilted his head and sat forward until we were less than an arm’s length apart. “Anything in particular you want me to explore with you? I am pretty new to everything, but loved what we did at the club.”
Leaning forward until I could feel his breath on my neck, I licked my lips and dove into the main reason I was looking for more of a connection. “I want to fight for dominance until you take control and fuck me.”
Maxx gulped audibly over the jazz music and then nodded, “I think I can do that for you.”
We negotiated some more about limits and shared testing results, setting a date for our next mutual day off to meet up at the club and see where things went. He wanted me to feel safe instead of being alone at his place, and I so appreciated that. Despite the serious tone of discussing things, the topic had me hard and wanting all the way through the ride home. Being wrapped around his solid body just added to the warm and fuzzy feeling, and I was sure he could feel my hard-on too.
When Maxx got off the bike and unbuckled his helmet along with my own, I couldn’t help but hope, and my mouth got the better of me. “Are you going to kiss me now?”
Maxx chuckled and ran his fingers through the jet black hair I wanted to pull.
“I’d like to kiss you, if that’s alright?”
Nodding emphatically, I grabbed him by the lapel of his jacket and pulled him close, my other hand going to his hip. Maxx seemed surprised, and I wondered if he was always dominant in relationships, or used to smaller partners. Well, welcome to kissing men who liked both sides, officer.
Maxx cupped my face gently, fingers behind my ear and thumb at my jaw as he tilted me just so. I breathed him in and savored the moment, blood rushing from my dick to my heart as it pumped wildly. If he wasn’t a good kisser, I didn’t know how I’d let him fuck me. But he did not disappoint.
Our lips met in a wet embrace, soft and exploratory as I let my tongue out to taste him. Maxx teased my tongue with his own and slipped his other hand into the gap between my overalls and crop-top. Fuck that felt good, but I needed to step back before I invited him upstairs.
“Thank you for coffee,” I whispered against his lips, “And the kiss.”
“You’re welcome,” Maxx dropped his hands from me and smiled a little shyly, “Forgot to tell you how hot you look in this outfit.”
“You can tell me how hot I look every day, handsome.”
Blowing him a kiss as I opened the door to my new apartment, he just shook his head and grinned. Oh yeah, definitely going to be date number two.
Chapter nine
MAXX
THINKINGABOUTANTWASbecoming a problem at work. With thoughts of the scenes we did, the date we had, and the plans I was anticipating was seriously distracting. I was getting inappropriate boners like I was a teenager again, and my lovely partner had noticed.
“Need another coffee, rookie? I’m the one who should be tired on the night shift,” Officer Matlock’s bushy mustache jiggled obscenely over his sneer. I wasn’t even a rookie anymore, I’d been on the force for almost two years. But he wasn’t done, “Or do I need to call your boyfriend to take you home for a nap?”
His words weren’t unusual, always saying I needed my mommy or had a boyfriend, but he meant like I was a little girl. If he knew I was bi, it would likely be even worse. I wasn’t out for a reason, and he was a big part of that. Always using slurs, despite knowing that I didn’t like it. So long as it wasn’t recorded on his camera, I couldn’t say anything. But I wouldn’t be in the closet forever.
