TASHA
“ Y our parents are serious about an arranged marriage?” Trevor asked.
“Apparently. I shouldn’t even be surprised.” I traced my finger along the lion tattoo Trevor had on his shoulder that wrapped down to his chest. I was currently lying on top of him, one leg hooked over his, a sheet barely covering us.
It was close to three in the morning, but neither of us seemed keen on going to bed. My body still hummed after the last round we had. I lost count of how many times Trevor made me come with the way his fingers traced up and down my spine. I knew there would be at least one more before we went to sleep.
“They’ve done this before?” he asked.
“They’ve tried to set me up with their friend's sons before, but that was more subtle than this. We’d usually go to dinner and he’d be there so I’d have no choice but to talk. Or I’d be required to attend one of their events, and they’d nudge me to go start a conversation.”
“Wow, that’s…” Trevor seemed unsure what to say to that, his words trailing off .
“Yeah,” I mumbled.
“Your parents sound great,” Trevor joked.
“Don’t they?” I snorted. My fingers kept tracing his skin almost like if I stopped, he’d disappear. “Do you talk to your parents?” The words left my mouth before I could stop them.
I knew the subject of family was sensitive for him since he told me a little bit about them in Australia. I didn’t want to bring up something unwanted, but I also wanted to learn more about him. Learn what made him into the man he was today, even if that meant getting to know all the bad parts.
Trevor’s fingers stalled on my back, and he laid still below me. When a minute or so passed with no word, I knew I overstepped. It was too soon for me to ask that kind of question. I should have known better.
“Sorry, I—” I made the motion to get off his chest, but I didn’t make it far before Trevor’s hand on my back kept me rooted there on my stomach. I peered up under my lashes at him, hoping I hadn’t upset him.
“The last time I spoke to my parents was right after I got drafted.” Trevor stared up at the ceiling, his fingers once again tracing a path on my skin. I listened as he spoke, lying my chin on my hands on his chest.
“I hadn’t heard from them in months. They didn’t even call to congratulate me on the day of the draft, so I don’t know why I thought they would because they never called…for anything. When I got drafted, I was with Wyatt’s family on their couch, cameras pointed at us, and I waited. It’s not every day you get your name called for the third pick, let alone with the same team as your best friend.”
The way he talked about Wyatt and his family gave me the inkling that he cared deeply for them. They may not have been blood related, but they showed up more than his own parents did.
“Anyway, it was a few weeks after when I finally heard from them. Not to congratulate me, though.” My chest tightened at the hurt in his voice. “They wanted to know how much money I was promised and if I could give them some.”
I made a noise—one that had to have shown how appalling I thought that was—but stayed quiet.
“Apparently, they needed money for rent. Their landlord was about to kick them out, but I also knew the real reason they asked for it. They needed it for drugs.” Trevor shook his head, his jaw tight. “Nothing about me making it to the league or being proud of me. Just how much I could transfer over into their bank account.”
My heart broke. All he wanted was his parents to tell him they were proud of him, to see that their son did something with his life. Yet all they wanted was money for drugs, and they knew Trevor had the means to provide that.
“So, I paid their rent for a year and gave them five thousand dollars. Didn’t hear a single thank you. After that, I cut them off. Blocked their numbers and left them alone.”
When I first met Trevor, I only thought he was a fuckboy. He was always that funny, lighthearted, takes nothing serious type of guy. But I clearly had it all wrong. He may be all those things, but he’s also selfless and caring. Even when some people didn’t deserve it.
I knew there was nothing I could say right then, and I had a feeling he wouldn’t want any of my sympathy either. So I did the only thing I could. I placed kisses on his chest, moving up his neck until I reached his lips, kissing him softly.
“You’re amazing, you know that?” I whispered when I pulled away.
“I think I need another reminder.” Trevor grinned at me. The haunted look in his eyes slowly disappeared. Smiling, I kissed him again. “One more.”
Laughing, I gave him a little peck .
“That one doesn’t count.” He said.
“It does! Our lips touched.”
“Nope.”
I barely grazed my lips on his before pulling away.“Better?”
Trevor shook his head before suddenly flipping me over and onto my back. His muscular body hovered over me.
“Not even close.” When his lips met mine, it was slow and teasing. His tongue softly grazed the seam of my lips. I opened my mouth, expecting our tongues to meet but instead Trevor sucked my bottom lip between his.
“Now it’s my turn to remind you how amazing you are.”
My face split into a grin as Trevor kissed his way down my body, showing me exactly how amazing he thought I was.
“I should probably head home.”
We were currently lying in his bed, legs tangled together as we watched TV. We hadn’t left the bedroom unless it was to shower or grab the food we ordered.
“Why?” The way he said it was like I was purposely leaving him. I didn’t want to go as much as he didn’t like hearing me say that.
“Because,” I shifted so I could see his face better, “I have work tomorrow and you have practice.”
It was hard to believe it was already Sunday and we had to get back to real life. The two of us had been so wrapped up in each other to remember life outside of his apartment.
The last day was nothing short of amazing. It was so easy being around Trevor. It literally felt like we’d been together for years, not days. It’s crazy to think that just a week ago, we hadn’t spoken much and now here I was, wrapped in his arms, not wanting to leave. Despite how fast things escalated between us, it felt…right.
Being with Trevor felt right.
“How about we both skip work and practice and stay in bed.” He wiggled his eyebrows making me laugh.
“As much as I want to do that, and trust me, I do.” I really, really did. “We can’t. I've been gone from work for over a week and you know Coach will have your ass if you miss practice, especially with your first game a week away.”
“Why must you be right?” Trevor groaned, throwing his head back into the pillow.
“You’ll find I’m always right.” I smirked. He pinched my side, making me squirm away from him while giggling.
“You could always stay and go home to change in the morning.” The offer was tempting but I knew we both needed sleep and a little time away from each other. We’d only gotten a total of five hours of sleep—roughly—in the last two days. Plus, this was all so new that we needed to spend a little time away from each other without the other clouding our thoughts.
“You know I would if I could.” I also didn’t want to be the reason he was dead tired tomorrow at practice. So much for spending the weekend getting extra sleep.
Since it was getting late, I reluctantly made myself get out of bed. I sidestepped Trevor’s hands that tried to pull me back down. If I didn’t leave now, I would fall back in bed with him and never leave. I needed to be strong for the both of us.
Trevor sat up in bed, watching me slide on my shorts. Shorts I hadn’t worn since I got there. When I started to pull his shirt off, his voice stopped me.
“Keep it.” Biting my lip to stop myself from grinning like a fool, I kept his borrowed shirt on. Now I truly wasn’t giving it back.
Eyes lingered on me as I moved around trying to find my shoes and the shirt I came wearing. Grabbing my phone from his bedside table, I noticed quite a few texts and missed calls. My phone was the last thing on my mind since admitting my feelings to Trevor.
I looked over the texts from Josie and the girls, not at all surprised there was nothing from my mother.
“You don’t have to go.” Trevor reached and grabbed the back of my thighs, tugging me between his legs. He tilted his head back to look up at me, the look on his face slowly breaking my resolve.
“I know,” I whispered. My hands came up to softly graze his cheeks, the stubble rough against my palms.
“You’re not…” Trevor stopped himself from finishing, looking almost hesitant.
“Hm?” I waited patiently as he tried to figure out the right words. After a moment, he seemed to steel himself for whatever he needed to get off his chest.
“You aren’t going to go home and regret this, are you?” I'd never seen him look so vulnerable. The question took me by surprise, yet not really. I knew with everything that happened between us, it would make sense for him to be wary. Worried that I’d run again.
The thing was, I wanted Trevor from the moment I met him. I just got scared and let my past get in the way. Now that I knew what it was like to have him, I had no plans of letting him go. Something he was about to learn.
“No.” My fingers ran through his hair. “I think you’re stuck with me for a while.” I felt the tension slowly seep from his body at my words.
With a small smile, I bent down, placing a kiss on his lips. Each kiss set my whole body on fire in a way I’d never felt before. I half expected my foot to pop up, just like in the movies.
A moan formed in my throat as Trevor deepened the kiss, his fingertips digging into the back of my thighs. He was seconds away from pulling me onto his lap, I knew it. And if he did, I knew I wouldn’t be leaving his bed anytime soon. I was very easily going to become addicted to having sex with Trevor. It was that good.
When I pulled away, Trevor groaned, dropping his head against my stomach. I was glad to see I wasn’t the only one affected.
“Sunshine.”
Sunshine.
It was my new favorite word.
“I have to go.” Trevor let out one more groan before loosening his grip on me. “Come on, you big baby.” Grabbing his arms, I tried to pull him off the bed, but he didn’t move an inch as I tugged. He sat there watching me with an amused grin.
“God, what do you eat?” I groaned, planting my feet and pulling harder.
“Are you saying I eat too much?” he said, acting offended.
“Yes.”
“That’s a mean thing to say, Sunshine.”
“Yeah, but it’s true.” I flashed him a grin.
“This is all muscle, I assure you.”
I scoffed at his words.
“You would know. You’re the one who licked my abs just a few hours ago,” Trevor said with a smirk, making my cheeks flush. “Cat got your tongue?”
“Fine, you can get up on your own.” I stuck my tongue out at him, acting like a little kid, as I turned on my heel and headed for the door.
Just as I predicted, I only made it to the hallway before Trevor grabbed me by the waist, turning me around until my back was pressed against the wall. He towered over me, one hand on my waist and the other on the wall above my head.
“Just going to leave without a goodbye?” His face hovered over mine, his bare chest taunting me.
“Bye,” I said cheekily.
“I’d be very careful, Sunshine.” His warning tone had me biting my lip.
“Or what?” Trevor’s jaw clenched as he nudged my legs apart before wedging his knee between them. I was trapped between the wall and his body, his knee pressed against my center.
“You’ll learn the hard way what happens when you talk back to me.” Never before had just a few words made me so wet. The rebel side of my brain told me to push him. Push him enough to see what would happen.
Almost like he heard what I was thinking, the corner of his mouth quirked up. He applied more pressure against my pussy. His hand grabbed my hair, pulling it tight into a fist as he gently but firmly tilted my head back.
“Someone likes the thought of that, don’t they?” I went to nod, but he shook his head. “Words. I want to hear you say it.”
I was pretty sure I would have melted into a puddle if he wasn’t for him holding me up.
“Yes.” It came out in a breathy whisper.
When Trevor ran his lips down the side of my jaw to my neck, my eyes closed on their own. In just a short amount of time, Trevor already knew my weak spots. He wasn’t even kissing my neck, just barely gazing his lips against my skin.
My hips had a mind of their own as I ground against his knee, the fabric of my shorts rubbing me just perfectly. I didn’t care that I was probably soaking through them onto his sweatpants. Especially not when Trevor started sucking on the spot between my neck and shoulder.
“I can feel you soaking through my pants,” Trevor whispered in my ear. “I've barely even touched you,” he taunted, hand tightening in my hair.
"So needy," he murmured, his voice vibrating against my ear, sending a shiver down my spine.
“So needy,” he hummed, the sound vibrating against my ear, sending a tremor through me. Panting, I brought a hand up to grip his bicep, needing something to hold on to as the pleasure in my lower belly grew.
I probably should have been embarrassed at how fast I melted under his touch but I wasn’t, not when the need to come grew by the second.
My body tightened as my orgasm grew. I was seconds away when the pressure between my legs suddenly disappeared. My head was in the clouds, too distracted to fully comprehend what happened as that pressure in my lower abdomen suddenly vanished. I blinked up at Trevor, who smirked down at me.
“Maybe now you’ll learn not to talk back.”
Realizing what he did, I gaped up at him. He did not. He did not just get me to the edge and then stop. At the look on my face, he chuckled, letting my hair go and stepping back.
Letting out a huff, I crossed my arms, body still on fire and tingling.“That was mean.”
“So mean,” he agreed as he pecked my lips before nodding his head toward the front door. “Let me walk you out.”
I wanted to be mad at him for teasing me and then acting like it didn’t happen. But that was next to impossible when he flashed me that wide grin and held his hand out for me to take.
“You better watch your back. I’ll get my revenge soon.” I lifted my chin with a confident flair as I placed my hand in his. I already had an idea in mind.
“I look forward to it.”
Rolling my eyes, my lips tugging up into a smile, I followed him out of his house, grabbing my things as we went and headed to my car still parked out front.
It was dark outside, nearing eight thirty p.m., so none of his neighbors could see how disheveled I looked. Once I placed my stuff in the passenger seat, I turned around, head tilted back to see Trevor’s face. His hands found their place on my hips.
“Text me when you get home.”
My heart fluttered at his words as I placed my own hands on his bare chest. I really didn’t want to leave. “I will. Have a good practice tomorrow.”
“Have a good day at work tomorrow.” His eyes looked right into mine as he squeezed my hips gently.
Knowing that if I didn’t leave I would drag him back inside and ride his cock until dawn. Who knew I would become so addicted to Trevor in just a matter of days?
Lifting up onto my toes, I pressed a soft kiss to his lips. We pulled away a moment later, both knowing I had to go. Sending him one last smile, I slid into my car, Trevor holding the top of the door for me before shutting it. Rolling my window down, I gazed up at him.
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” he echoed.
Before I could convince myself to stay, I pulled away from the curb, watching Trevor’s figure in my rearview mirror until I turned at the corner.
As I drove home, I had a permanent smile on my face. For the first time in a long, long time I felt truly happy. All thanks to one person.
