“Right. Good luck.”
“Don’t tell your source. I don’t frequent places like this anymore.”
“Much to our distress, Cameron.”
“I’ll call you later. Catch up properly,” I said, softening my tone. “I miss you, Pen.”
I missed them all.
“We love you. Come back and visit soon.”
I hung up and headed for the elevator, punching the only button: CLUB.
When the doors parted I stepped out into a plush burgundy foyer and was greeted with a smile from a very pretty, very young receptionist who sat behind a desk.
“Welcome, sir,” she said pleasantly.
Predictably, Tamaso Albinoni’sAdagio in G Minorset the scene, as did the scents of lavender and sandalwood to help clients unwind from a day of reaping in the billions.
I soaked it in.
“Midas,” I said, holding her gaze. The young lady had an oriental heritage. I admired the shiny black locks that hung straight down her back. Her blouse was open just enough to reveal a push-up bra, and as she stepped out from behind her desk to greet me, I glanced down at her short skirt, which showed off her stocking tops. Everything about her screamed risqué.
“At your service.” Her tone was sweet.
I gave her a suggestive look of appreciation. I didn’t want to know her name.
“Do you have an appointment?” She peered down at her ledger. “Are you here for a session or for the club?”
“I’m open for anything.” My grin was all about the innuendo.
When she blushed and looked away, I leaned over the reception desk and saw the names listed in the guestbook. Even though it was upside-down, I was able to read “Gardner” and noted the letter “D” beside his name.
Shay had booked himself a session with a dominant. Since he’d arrived early, he probably would have been invited to take a dip in the sauna first.
He’d finally faced his submissive side. He’d realized fighting his desire to be dominated by a man was futile. Still, I couldn’t understand why he’d not shared this with me. Membership didn’t run cheap. You paid to never have been here.
The receptionist’s soft, flowery scent reached me. “We’re proud to deliver most requests.”
I needed to find my way to the spa, and act like I knew where it was. Two hallways led off in opposite directions.
I looked at my watch. “I’m trying to work out if I have time for a stone massage.”
She glanced left. “Would you like me to have a masseur meet you in the spa? We have our aural specialist in the house.”
Yes, she’d just offered me a happy ending like it was a drink off a menu. This place was an illegal haven.
“I’ll pass, but thank you.” I headed left.
“Sir,” she called after me. “You’ll need this.”
I came back and she dropped a key into my palm, which I assumed was for a locker.
“Any special requests?” She added brightly. “Any past favorites you’d like me to summon for your pleasure?”
I gave her a tight smile, knowing she wasn’t offering a beverage. This was the kind of club you needed a mayor to be a member of to prevent it from getting raided. Immunity to the kind of debauchery even I arched an amused brow at.
“I’m good.” I threw in a wink before turning on my heel and walking away. My priority was Shay.
