“I’d like you to lead the team in the meeting today,” she said warmly. “Is this something you feel ready for?”
“Yes, absolutely. Thank you.”
“Mia,” she said, gesturing to the file in my hand, “I saw your rendition. I love the way you’ve incorporated Raif Cole’s signature into the design so we remember our legacy, and remind the consumer it’s a family business.”
It felt right in every way. “I’m so glad you like it.”
“It will be interesting to see how Mr. Cole feels about this suggestion.” She gave me a thin smile. “Make sure he knows this is your personal take and not directly from marketing.”
Which meant she was distancing herself from my design.
The chains were doing crazy things to my ability to speak. I hoped Dana didn’t notice me balancing on one foot and then the other to take the pressure off. Nothing helped, not even leaning forward slightly or leaning all my weight on my right leg.
“Don’t be nervous.” Dana misinterpreted my body language. “You’ll do great.”
“Yes, I will.” Even my breathing was having an effect on those chains, shooting sensations directly into my core.
“Do sit down.” She gestured to the chair in front of her desk.
I’d not practiced sitting in this getup yet, but had no choice. Easing myself down as slowly as possible, I felt the tugging intensify until my sex was taut and being stimulated to the max.
“You have real potential.” Dana picked up a pen and pointed it at me. “You take risks. I like that.”
Risks? How was my design a risk?
I placed my file on her desk to buy time—all five seconds of this awkward repositioning as I squirmed in my chair.
Dana continued to discuss her expectations for the impending meeting.
After thirty minutes, with the time closing in on 10:00 A.M., I left her office and began the walk toward the elevator with a careful stride.
Had this been me walking the pathway to my master in a room back at Chrysalis, I’d have been ecstatic, but this place made it dark play. I had to will myself not to come while leaning against the elevator wall as I ascended, trying to think of anything but Cole.
Remembering all my orgasms belonged to him.
THE PHOTOSHAY SENT WASa fucking masterpiece.
Mia was drenched in diamonds that easily reflected the imagery of the sacred feminine, with the beauty of her sex highlighted by the stones known in Greek asadamas; the word diamond’s interpretation of “unbreakable” or even untamable.
Like the woman who wore my bejeweled bondage.
I was pleasantly distracted from the slew of meetings. My sweet Mia had obeyed and in doing so I’d delivered on my promise. Flying toward the flame of temptation was a thrill from my past, and her begging me last night to tease her on the darker side hadn’t gone unanswered.
Two goals had been accomplished. Firstly, I’d reminded Mia I was her master after she’d rebelled this morning and put herself in danger. Mia wouldn’t know about the death threats, or that kidnapping was still a possibility, or even that men would harm her to get to me. No, Mia didn’t need to know about any of that because making her feel safe was my priority.
And Shay’s involvement in my erotic torture of Mia just now had its own objective. I imagined his steely guard would falter and lead to a confession of what he was keeping from me.
I was about to find out.
Shay’s voice carried from outside my office as he chatted with Sue.
The door opened and he closed it behind him, strutting in like a man who’d just discovered a new country. That pinstriped suit looked great on him. His Armani shoes were overly polished, though, and this concerned me.
“Well, that was different.” He came toward my desk.
I sat down behind it and leaned back in my chair. “She won’t wander off again.”
“I’m glad you’re happy.”
