Page 25 of Eclipse Sector
Her features darkened, her gaze narrowing slightly. “Not directly. But I’ve witnessed their brute strength. Alpha Ransom is much more civilized.”
“Not all Viking Alphas are uncivilized,” King Kieran said as he materialized in the room, his wolf ears obviously allowing him to hear our conversation before he entered.
The hairs along the back of my neck inched upward as Cillian appeared beside him, his hands clasped behind his back in that elegant way of his.
I studiously ignored him and focused on what King Kieran was saying about Viking Alphas. “Don’t let the Savage Sector name fool you, darling. The Alphas there cherish their Omega mates. Perhaps not as much as we do here, but I’m guessing the two you’re thinking of are anomalies among their kind.”
“Like the V-Clan Alpha I scented,” she muttered, causing my brows to furrow.
“Yes, him as well.” King Kieran palmed her cheek and pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I still intend to hunt him for you.”
“I haven’t sensed him.”
“I know.”
“You’ve been listening?”
“I’m always listening, little trickster,” he replied, a twinkle in his dark eyes as his hand drifted down to the noticeable bump in her abdomen. “You know that.”
Quinn huffed. “It’s not like I can shadow.”
“We both know you’re far more inventive than that.”
“I think I’ve proved that I intend to stay.”
“You have.” He leaned down to press his lips to her ear. “But I’ve heard you thinking about hunting that Alpha, darling. To protect your Omegas. To protect our unborn child. Don’t think for one second I’d allow you to go alone.”
“You won’tallowme to do anything.” She sounded petulant, like they were having two entirely different conversations.
“I told you we could visit them, Quinn. Just say when, and I’ll ready the jet.”
She bit her cheek, her eyes still narrowed. “I have to finish preparing the Omegas.”
“I know.”
“Then we’ll go.” She sounded pleased. Not that I had any idea what they were talking about now. It seemed like they’d jumped through three or four unrelated discussions.
“All right.” He brushed his lips against her temple, his expression indulgent. “I’m yours to command, My Queen. Always.”
She nodded, her arms curling around him as she buried her face in his neck.
I glanced away, suddenly feeling very out of place in this obviously intimate moment between them.
In the time I’d known Quinn, she’d always been well poised and regal in nature. She was a take-no-shit Omega who stood up for those in need. But right now, she needed her Alpha’s purr—something he gave her with a loud rumble of his chest.
Displays of affection were normal between them.
But this… this felt even more affectionate than usual.
She’s pregnant,Cillian said into my mind.Pregnant Omegas are often emotional.
I glanced sharply in his direction. Why are you in my head?
Because your thoughts are particularly loud today,he growled.I felt obligated to reply.
I nearly snorted. You can choose what to listen to.
Yes, and I do. But you happen to be thinking about two of the names I’m always listening for—Quinn and Kieran.
