Chapter Fifty-Six
Grace
O h my god. I’d just let Jett rail me on a chaise lounge in a cabana on a beach full of people. With two of my mates just outside.
And I liked it a lot.
Being with Jett filled up something inside me, something that I didn’t know was empty.
Also, I was very curious as to what it would be like to actually be taken against a wall. Though this had been really nice.
And that hand…
Light flooded the cabana as Brennan slipped in through the cloth doors. Shit. Anxiety shot through me.
“Hey, none of that.” Jett lightly bit the lobe of my ear. “Bren would be so impressed with how well you listen, and how pretty you look with my hand around your neck.”
Brennan’s pine scent flared as he strode over to me, and he took my chin in his hands. “Is that right?”
“Yes, Alpha.” Every inch of me trembled. He wore long board shorts and a tight shirt that showed off every muscle and I bit my lower lip wondering what would happen next.
His blue eyes met mine. “Good.”
Something shuddered straight through me. Down girl. I had three guys and wanted two more? Did I really have to catch them all?
Would it be bad if I did?
Brennan touched his forehead to mine. He smelled like he’d gone for a swim in the ocean. Letting go of my chin, he caressed my cheek.
Then he took Evan’s face in his hand. “What about this one?”
“For once, he listened.” Jett planted a kiss on Evan’s temple.
“Excellent. That’s what I like to hear.” Brennan rewarded Evan with a kiss. “Everyone’s hungry. I’m supposed to order lunch.” He went to the tablet on the wall of the cabana where you could order food and drinks. “What do you want?”
Crawling up off my hot man pillow, I joined him to see what I wanted. Anxiety shot through me again. What did Bren think of me letting Jett fuck me on a lounge chair. Was it weird that I wanted a hand wrapped around my throat?
Brennan ruffled my hair with his hand as his body touched mine. “Settle, Grace.”
The growl in his voice did the exact opposite.
“I trust Jett to give you what you need–as should you. You obviously need a little extra with what you’ve been through, and there’s no shame in that.” His hand rubbed the back of my neck like he had this morning.
The hand stayed there as I entered my selection on the tablet. Even though he didn’t purr, the simple act of his hand on the back of my neck like that did something to me.
My pussy muscles twitched. While they’d gotten two delicious cocks, what they hadn’t gotten was a nice thick knot.
What was going on? While there were times I wanted Brennan, did he want me? Or was this just caring about me? I was so confused.
“My turn.” Evan broke the moment, entering his selection on the tablet.
I used that interruption to duck out of Brennan’s grasp. “I’m going to check on Riley.”
Slipping out, I blinked at the bright sun. My sunglasses were inside. As was my wrap.
Wes was now being buried in the sand by Riley. Wes. More anxiety shot through me. Wes sent back love and winked. Winked!
Strong arms wrapped around me as Spencer hugged me from behind. Spence. Fuck what did I do?
“Easy, Baby Girl, it’s just me,” Spencer growled in my ear, pulling me down into the low chair someone had dragged out of the cabana.
I melted into him, putting my face in the crook of his neck and breathing deep. My heart slowed, as the scent of oiled leather filled my lungs.
Why was everyone being so growly?
Spencer licked the bond mark on my neck in a possessive gesture that sent more sparks through me. His fingers traced my cheekbone. “Were you a good girl for Jett?”
His growl made me melt even more, my breath, once again, catching in my chest.
“Yes, Alpha.” It was breathy and barely there.
“I’m so glad. He’s much stricter than I am, and I’m not saving you from someone else’s punishments, Darling.” The growl turned to a purr.
I curled into his arms. He continued to hold me tight, covering me with a beach blanket.
“That’s it, just settle into my arms right there where you belong,” he purred. “Perfect.”
His praise and purrs comforted me. Spencer’s hand slipped under my bikini bottoms, hidden by the blanket. Fingers slipped inside of me. Burying my head in his shoulder, I let him play with me, in public , with only a blanket to conceal us.
I should be scandalized. But it felt so good. So much love and desire slipped through our bond as I inhaled his scent, sweet with his desire.
“That’s it, Baby Girl,” he whispered, as my body shuddered.
I hid my cries in his neck. Hand slipping out of me, his arms tightened around my body.
“There you go.” Spencer kissed my bond mark.
It wasn’t a knot. But I did feel better. Maybe after lunch I’d drag someone back to the room with me.
Until then, this was nice. I got cozy in his arms as we watched as Jett, Evan, and Brennan came back out and started playing a game with scoops and a ball. Riley made the sand-buried Wes a mermaid tail.
A little girl in a purple bathing suit ran over to Spence and me. Her brown hair was in two little poofs, and she carried a red bucket full of toys.
Her little light brown freckled face broke out into a grin. Her blue eyes, the professor’s eyes, sparkled. “There you are!”
“Hi, Tru.” Any other words escaped me and for a moment I had no air. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see Tru, it was that I didn’t expect it.
What was she doing here?
My belly tightened. Was the professor here? Was this some kind of emotional blackmail? I couldn’t look.
“Breathe, darling,” Spencer whispered in my ear. He smiled at Tru. “Hi, Tru. It’s nice to see you. Who are you here with?”
“Me. Hi.” Mercy strode over, wearing one of those sporty bikinis with a sports bra top and boy shorts, showing off her leg muscles and toned arms. Skate smash took major leg power.
Like yesterday, her brown hair was in two neat dutch braids, secured with colorful scrunchies.
A straw beach bag was slung over her broad shoulder.
I looked up and down the beach, and while it was dotted with people I saw no one I recognized from that pack. No professor. No Creed.
“Do your responsible adults know that you’re here?” I asked, easing out of Spencer’s lap so I was standing. Mercy was quite a bit taller than me.
Mercy shrugged. “That’s why they track our phones. Besides, Tru wanted to see you and I didn’t want to be home, so we thought we’d take the train to the beach. It’s a beautiful day for it.”
That it was. It was sunny and warm with a slight breeze.
“How did you know where I was?” I frowned. “Creed?”
“Creed’s phone.” She shrugged.
“You use a mirror?” Riley jogged over to us. She wore a cute black swimsuit that would be perfect for Wednesday Addams. Her braids were wrapped around her head in a poofy braid bun.
Mercy shook her head. “He hasn’t changed his password in years.”
“That works,” Riley nodded, as her gaze shifted from Mercy to me and back again. “Wow, just wow.”
“This is nothing. You should meet my brother Creed. It’s so weird seeing the two of them standing next to each other.” Mercy laughed.
Tru’s face broke out into a wide, sweet grin. “Grace, I have another sister? One with such pretty hair?”
Riley’s hand went to her heart. “Hey, Babycakes. I’m Riley. I wish Grace was my sister. Mine aren’t that cool. Grace is mated to my brother.”
“This is Tru and Mercy. Mercy is a crusher–Riley’s a swing,” I introduced.
“Should we build that sandcastle?” Riley offered.
“Sister.” Hale came out of nowhere, wearing the tiniest swimsuit. He picked me up and spun me around, laughing. His unbound hair went flying as we turned.
Wes immediately came over to us, Brennan and Jett flanking him, Evan standing by Spencer.
“You’re so fucking light.” Hale laughed. “I bet you’re fun to throw. Catch.”
He tossed me at Wes, a shriek escaping my lips as I flew across the sand.
Wes dove and caught me. “Got you.”
“My turn.” Tru laughed.
“Shit,” Wes muttered as for a moment he just held me. “You okay?”
“Yeah.” I watched Hale toss Tru at Mercy. What the hell?
Hale grinned at Wes. “You play toss the Grace all the time, right? Way more fun than flying disc.”
Brennan strode over to him. “I’m Brennan, you are?”
“I’m Hale. Grace’s favorite brother. I brought Mercy and Tru.” Hale grinned. “So, Big Sis, this is your pack? Nice hotel.”
I made the introductions. Mercy and Riley were deep in conversation. Tru trotted over to the hole Riley had dug and picked up some of the sand toys.
“I’m sorry to crash your pack beach day, but Tru was crying last night because Creed wouldn’t bring her to see you, since he has to get back to Natty for finals and shit.
And well, when Mom rolled in drunk this morning, things literally started to fly.
Dare took Pax and Chance to the park, Verity took Hope to the arboretum, and Mercy and I took Tru because they don’t need to see that shit,” Hale told me quietly.
“Oh. I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause problems with your pack.” My belly twisted.
Wes put his arm around me, sending me love through the bond.
“This isn’t your fault,” Hale told me. “Mercy and I don’t want to be around Mom right now, anyway. Besides, I want to work on my tan.”
“Are you Adriana’s? I don’t know the whole family tree yet,” I said softly.
“Yeah. Creed’s Dad and Mumsy’s, Mercy and I are Mom and Dad’s, Verity, Dare, and Chance are Mama and Baba’s, and Tru, Pax, and Hope are Dad and Harry’s,” he explained. “Well, Dad and Harry had help, but you know what I mean.”
So much to remember.
I looked over and saw Mercy and Riley helping Tru build a sandcastle. If they were staying, I should order them some food, since our lunch would be here soon.
“Well, welcome,” Brennan said. “It’s probably best to get the younger kids away from any fighting.”
“Yeah, yesterday was scary enough,” Hale replied. “At least the littles didn’t really understand. It freaked Mercy out though, since she just had that assembly.”
My shoulders rounded. “I’m so sorry.”
