Chapter Thirty-Three

Spencer

I ended the call. My attention returned to a large group of students on the patio of the pizza place, which was near the research university I’d spoken at yesterday. I heard Grace before I saw her, that joyous laugh of hers tinkling like bells.

Grace spoke animatedly to some young people. My decision to bring her was resolute–this whole time, she’d been happy. Something that had been all too fleeting since she’d come back from the Temporal Authority.

I texted Riley.

Me

Can you tell if a record is fake?

Riley

Usually. What do you need?

I sent her Creed’s father’s bio.

Shortly thereafter I got a text from Brennan with information for a farm and bourbon distillery not that far from where I’d be tomorrow. I looked it up. Huh. Grace would probably love to visit.

I approached the small fence separating the patio from the parking lot. A bunch of the young people stopped talking and looked at me. A young woman tapped Grace on the shoulder. My good doctor turned. Her entire face brightened, a smile breaking out which made my heart warm.

“Well, this looks more fun than any party we’ve been invited to,” I told her.

“Come join us.” Grace waved me over. “I saved you a slice.”

I went around through the restaurant and joined them on the patio, having a cold slice of pizza and a warm glass of beer as she introduced me to a large number of young people. Many of which were eager to meet me and tell me all about their studies.

“This is Creed,” Grace finally introduced. “He goes to engineering school at Natty and is graduating soon. He’s applied to work with us.”

Yes, this was a young alpha. Not a particularly large or fierce one in appearance, but I could sense it under the surface.

National University of Science and Technology was a premier institution and him being in their graduate engineering program spoke volumes.

The tall and slim young man looked so very much like my good doctor. Some of their mannerisms were similar as well. Creed, too, told me about his work as others headed out and Grace settled the bill.

Finally, I squeezed Grace’s hand. “I’m so sorry to tear you away, but we should make an appearance at a couple parties.”

“Go have fun, it’s getting late,” a young woman that worked for PIIP said.

Grace waved and wished everyone left safe drives as I called a car.

“I’m sorry, did I make us late? I was having a good time,” she apologized as we left the restaurant.

“Not at all.” I took her arm as we waited for the car. “After we stop by where we’re expected, we can do whatever you wish.”

“Another moonlit walk on the beach sounds nice.” She smiled as the car drove up.

I helped her inside. “My good doctor, I can’t think of anything better.”

In the hotel room, I sat at my laptop, putting out a couple of fires and sending some emails. Grace was in the bedroom talking to Evan and Wes. We’d gone to the parties, had a late dinner at an ocean-front bistro, then gone for a long walk along the water under the moonlight.

A perfect evening. My phone beeped.

Riley

If the record’s fake, I’ll eat a dinosaur dick.

Oh. Well, it would be quite the coincidence for Grace’s father to be one of the male omegas my father resettled.

Me

Thank you. What’s his designation?

Riley

Omega. Tons of kids. Most look like Grace and have weird names. What’s up? Is that dude really this world’s Grace?

Me

Probably not. Just being cautious. Again, thank you.

Riley

You should have Evan look him up in the Center database.

Oh, I probably should. I sent Evan a text.

“Is everything okay?” Grace asked, coming out and slipping onto my lap, which always felt so deliciously right.

She was only wearing one of my button-downs and tights.

Her eyes rested on mine, as they got that look in them they often held when I wore my glasses.

I wasn’t sure why she thought they were sexy.

But I’d take it.

“Everything's fine. I just had a theory dashed.” I shrugged.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She leaned up and gave me a kiss. “Which one?”

“I was curious if Creed’s father was one of the omegas that my father resettled. That perhaps he came from your world and that’s why you were permitted to stay.” I shrugged. “But it probably isn’t.”

Grace frowned. “I can’t even wrap my head around that theory.”

“It is an uncanny resemblance–you and Creed,” I pointed out, hoping my curiosity didn’t hurt her fragile heart.

“True. But genetics are weird. Also, designations aren’t illegal where I am.

They simply don’t exist. If for some reason my bio-dad had been illegal and was sent here, that would mean there would have been a possibility that my mom might have known what I was.

After spending an evening with a gamma that escaped a Fundie colony after they beat the omega out of her , as she so eloquently put it, I’d rather think my mom was just a regular asshole and not the extra special variety.

” Grace leaned her head on my chest. “Not that I still understand how I could be an omega in a world where they don’t exist.”

“True. Pardon me for prying. I was just curious.” I planted a kiss on her head.

She looked up at me. “No worries. At another point in my life, I’d probably be curious and full of theories, too.

Creed’s nice, and I hope he gets the job.

But I don’t know if I’d ever want to meet his parents or all that.

Spending time thinking about what my life would have looked like had I grown up in another world probably isn’t very healthy. ”

“Absolutely. How are Wes and Evan? Are you doing all right? If you miss them too terribly, we can head back early,” I offered.

Tomorrow was the last official day of the conference. We were planning on spending the day at the beach Friday, then heading back on Saturday. While I was thoroughly enjoying having her all to myself, I understood if it was too ambitious to expect her to be away from her mates for so long.

After all, while I cared deeply about her, she wasn’t my mate yet.

“They’re fine, and I do miss them, but not enough to want to go back early.” She snuggled deeper into my arms, relief sluicing over me.

“I confess, it’s nice having you to myself. But if you need–”

“You’re enough. Promise.” Her lips closed over mine, soft, sweet, and tasting faintly of chocolate.

Her words were everything I never knew I needed to hear.

“I’m having a great time,” she assured. “And it is nice, having you to myself. We’re going to have more of this aren’t we?”

“Of course.” I nodded. “We’ll have plenty of time to travel together both for business and pleasure.”

“Good. Especially if Bren has his way and we’re the face of the pack.” Grace gave me another kiss.

“Do you have an issue with that? It’s fine if you do. I’ll stand up for you.” I didn’t have an issue with it. It was an elegant solution. However, I worried that she agreed only to keep the peace.

Grace shook her head. “Me, have a problem with wearing pretty dresses and hanging off your arm all night? Not at all.”

“I’m so very glad.” I planted a kiss on her temple. “For Friday, I’ve gotten us a cabana at the hotel beach, so we can just lie by the ocean all day. Is there anything else you wish to do? To see?” Not that there were many places of note to take her here.

“This is perfect.”

“There’s a farm and distillery not far from where we’ll be tomorrow. How long will your field trip be? Perhaps you can take a car to me, then we can go have a picnic and get Brennan some bourbon. It has good reviews and looks beautiful,” I offered.

It was nice that she was making friends and connections. While I had no interest in seeing the construction of a giant super collider with the potential to cause a black hole, I could understand her own curiosity. Especially in regard to the simulator project.

I pulled up the farm on my laptop and we perused photos and menus.

“I would love to go on a date with you. Bourbon tasting and a sunset picnic by a pond sounds nice, especially if I’m with you.” She shot me another one of her heart-melting smiles.

I held her while I finished my emails, her head resting on my chest, her eyes closed, as I occasionally tangled my hand in her hair. Finally, I finished my emails, confirmed my schedule for tomorrow, and closed my laptop.

“All done. What would you like to do now? Maybe use the hot tub on the balcony?” My dick was rock hard and I’m sure she felt that.

“Mmmm. That sounds nice. But first, I have ideas.” She unbuttoned the shirt, and it fell to the ground. Grace wore no bra and no panties, but she had on a lace garter belt which held up her stockings.

I sucked in a breath. “Do you mean that, Baby Girl?”

Her look went sly as she carefully moved my laptop and draped herself over the desk, bare ass waggling at me. “Oh yes, I do… Daddy.”

A pleased growl rumbled in my chest.

“My beautiful, sweet, good doctor.” I kissed the back of her neck, then trailed kisses down her back as my hand caressed her damp pussy.

“That feels amazing,” she whispered.

Languidly, I kissed every inch of her bare back and ass as I continued to touch and stroke her.

“Come for me, Baby Girl.” Stroking her hair with my free hand, my other hand teased her clit.

Her body trembled as a happy noise escaped her lips. Her peach scent was heavy with arousal.

“Are you ready for my cock?” Taking off my belt, I removed my pants and briefs.

“Please?” It was a near whine.

Not to deny my sweet Grace anything, I plunged into her, bracing myself against the desk with one hand and continued to stroke her hair with the other.

“You feel so delightfully perfect around my cock,” I thrust in and out. “And yes, you look ravishing bent over the desk in only garters.”

I brought her back to orgasm. As she came around me, I pushed all the way inside of her, knotting us tightly together, flooding her. Oh, how I loved this feeling.

“So perfect, so beautiful,” I crooned, continuing to stroke and kiss her back. Gathering her up, I brought us over to the couch and cuddled her until my knot deflated.

I kissed her nose. “Better now?”

“Always. Magic dicks are the best.” She grinned. “Now, let’s go in the hot tub.”
