Seeing the hurt look in someone’s eyes, Wufu touched his nose, feeling rather inexplicably like a big bad wolf who had harmed a little lamb.

"Look, don’t make such a face, okay? It’s as if I did something terrible to you!" Wufu said awkwardly, making one feel quite uneasy.

Ah Jiu’s eyes flashed with a keen light as he said with feigned grievance, "My heartfelt intentions have been trampled by you!"

"Alright then, since you speak of taking responsibility, how do you plan to do so?" Wufu countered.

Ah Jiu was slightly stunned.

Wufu looked at him and said, "Has Ah Jiu been away from home too long, completely forgetting his status? You are a noble prince, and the women by your side, let alone a Main Consort, even an average concubine, would have to come from a noble birth, right?"

She was not foolish and knew all too well the marriage customs of the era. It didn’t take much thinking to realize that a prince’s woman must be either rich or noble. What kind of family background did she have to match that?

"I may not have any plans to marry, but I definitely do not plan to become someone’s mistress.

So, this responsibility you speak of need not exist!

" Wufu said, "As for what you mentioned about not caring, to be honest, it’s not just about holding hands; even if something unfortunate happened, I wouldn’t care about such an illusory reputation! "

Chastity was important for a woman of this era, but to her, it wasn’t important enough to take her life over.

Not to mention just a handhold, even if she were to lose her virtue, she wouldn’t seek death over it.

Ah Jiu’s face darkened.

"Would you feel the same if it were someone else? You wouldn’t care?" he asked, with a cold expression.

Wufu thought for a moment and nodded, "If it were someone else, I wouldn’t care just the same, but I would never give him the chance to stand before me." It would be over and done.

Ah Jiu’s expression cleared slightly as he got the underlying message.

"Do you not trust me, Wufu?" he asked, looking at her.

Wufu didn’t understand.

Ah Jiu looked into her bewildered eyes, sighed, and thought to himself that he now understood her; when it came to romance, she was even more oblivious than him. Without making things clear, she would never grasp them.

"Previously, Wufu, you asked me if I liked you," Ah Jiu said, looking into her eyes. "What if I say yes? How would you respond?"

"Huh?" Wufu was flabbergasted.

Ah Jiu smiled, "I mean, I take delight in you, Wufu. What do you think of that?"

Wufu’s brows furrowed and after a long pause, she finally uttered, "Are you still drunk?"

Pfft!

Someone nearby could not restrain their laughter.

Wufu and Ah Jiu turned to look in that direction, their eyes narrowing. The person hiding in the shadows immediately reined in their presence, retreated ten steps, and rubbed the goosebumps on their arms.

"I am serious in declaring my feelings to you, Wufu," Ah Jiu said.

Wufu raised an eyebrow: "What of it? You and I are destined to be people of two different worlds. You are high above, while I’m just an ordinary citizen, and I will not be a concubine!"

"Is that so! Then let’s try and see if we are from the same world or two different ones," Ah Jiu’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Shall we make a bet?"

Wufu’s fighting spirit was aroused, "Sure! Let’s bet then!"

Only then did Ah Jiu smile, saying, "It’s late at night; sleep well!" Quickly leaning in, he pecked her cheek, then with a push of his toes, he vanished.

Wufu, feeling the warmth on her cheek, took a while to spit out a curse. Damn it, she’d been taken advantage of by that kid again!

But, what he said about making a bet?

Wufu frowned, deciding not to care for now. There would be plenty of time in the future. Sleep was what mattered most.
