Page 40 of Deliverance
"Comes out in February."
Erin's face fell quickly. "I wish I could go see it."
"Hey." I reached over and touched her knee. "I'll get you the DVD when it comes out."
She sighed. "It's not the same."
"Yeah." I couldn't remember the last movie I saw in the theater.
A few moments passed. "You know, I'm thankful and grateful for everything you do and bring me, right?"
"I know, but if I could, I would take you—"
The sound of Saffron's heels clicked on the hardwood of the hallway. Erin went up the stairs, and I went down them and into the kitchen. I'd thought Saffron was asleep. In the past five years, I'd only seen her without her heels on once. She even kept them on when I had to fuck her. Even though I'd never asked, I was almost positive she did it to intimidate the women. To let them know she was around and not to try to do anything. That she was the boss.
"You're here late," she stated as she walked into the room.
I looked up from looking in the fridge. "Needed to get a workout in," I lied.
She walked to me and squeezed the back of my neck lightly. "I was coming down for a little bedtime snack. Seems you're just what I was looking for."

When Saffron and I were done, I grabbed my jeans off the floor.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
"Home," I replied curtly. I never stuck around.
"Your day's not over."
I stepped into my jeans and looked up at her. "It's after eleven."
She grinned and threw the red, satin sheet off of her naked body. "A girl is aging out tonight." She stood.
"Who?" Usually, she told me in the morning when a girl was being aged out, so that I could get my guys ready to either drive or assist me. Only Tyler was here now.
She walked to her bathroom but stopped in the doorway and looked over her shoulder. "Erin."
My hands stilled on the zipper of my jeans. "Erin?"
Saffron disappeared around the corner of her bathroom. "Yes. Stay there, and I'll walk down with you."
I couldn't say anything. I knew I had to pretend the news wasn't affecting me. It was, of course. Erin wasn't supposed to be the next to age out. There was still Liz, who had been at the penthouse longer, and she was older than Erin's age of twenty-nine.
Saffron walked out of the bathroom a few moments later in the dress she had been wearing that day. "Is that going to be a problem?"
I grabbed my T-shirt off the floor. "No."
"I didn't think so."
My mind was racing. We had to run.Thiswas the time. Saffron never came with me to take the women back to the warehouse, and this time, I'd drop Tyler off somewhere and drive away.
I quickly put my shirt and shoes on and started for the door.
"Wait for me!" Saffron called out.
She was right behind me as we walked into her sitting room and then down the stairs, her heels clicking with each step. I wasn't going to miss that fucking sound. Before working for her, I had thought heels were sexy. Not anymore.
