"And then what?" I questioned.
She licked her lips and laughed. "Whatever Mr. Russo chooses as their fate."
Sold? Killed? Let go? I knew deep down that the latter was never going to be an option. By the looks of the penthouse and the operation at the warehouse, they had been trafficking women for a long time.
"But you," Madam continued. "You're going to have a special job that will keep you here at least ten years."
"Ten years?" I cried.
"What's wrong with that?" She took a sip of her martini. "People dream of living in a New York penthouse on the Upper East Side. You're very lucky."
And there was that word again.Lucky.I wasn't fucking fortunate to be kidnapped.
"What will my job be?"
"Get dressed, and I'll show you."
I stepped into the dirty underwear and fastened my bra before slipping into the robe and following her down the stairs. Her heels clicked on each step, and I wondered if she always wore them inside. I was barefoot.
We walked down the hall, and she came to the closed door across from mine—the one that had been closed the entire time. She opened it, and inside was a blonde-haired girl, painting.
"Zell, this is Erin. She's going to be your teacher."
Chapter Seven
Ric
I watched Erin walk down the hallway and out of sight. I hated to think about what was in store for her, but there was nothing I could do.
Yet.
Once we were back in the limo, Frank lit a cigar. "David, how long have you worked for me?"
I looked next to me at the man who finally had a name.
"Three years," he responded.
"Has it been three years already?" Frank blew out a poof of the sweet smoke.
"It has."
"And you've been fucking one of my whores for how long?"
My eyes widened at Frank's question, while David sucked in a short breath next to me. Frank chuckled. "You didn't honestly think we wouldn't find out, did you?"
"I …" David stuttered.
Frank laughed again. "Cat got your tongue?" No one said anything for a few moments. "I'm surprised, given you know about the cameras."
Cameras?
David still didn't reply.
"Yes, there are cameras in the kitchen stairwell."
"I'm sorry, sir," David finally whispered, his head hanging.
"Save your apologies. It's already too late."
