Chapter Eighty-Two

LUNA

We lock almost immediately.

The pleasure is more than physical, and that space where we merge is clearer than ever before.

Is this how a scientist feels when they find the solution to a problem?

Like, maybe they haven’t worked out every detail.

But the process is right there, and they just have to do it and there’s no way it can’t all come together.

If it feels like this, it’s an unbelievable high, and so exciting they can forget the problem they were solving was the atom bomb.

I can fix this coil. I can unpluck it.

He wants me to fix the love I made him feel. He’s going to say it, and whether I fix it or not, the fact that he wants to be free of it is enough to make it important.

I want to know if it will work. I want to know if my power extends that far, but I don’t want to know, ever. This, right here with us being together for each other—it’s not what I wanted, but it is how life is supposed to be.

So I don’t ask. I just do it.
