Page 4 of Daring Her Vampires (Embracing The Bond #12)
Chapter Three
Atlas
“ I love you, brother. But when you touched her, I wanted to kill you for a moment.” I keep my eyes forward, watching the bumper of Sally’s car as we follow her. She insisted on driving her car home. We decided not to push her yet.
“I understand. I felt the same,” Luca says.
“It should get easier.” I glance at him, and he meets my eyes.
“Should,” he agrees, and I look back at the road.
Luca is my best friend, blood brother, and business partner.
We have done everything together, including fucking the same woman numerous times.
None of them have meant anything but a night of fun and some release.
Sally is different. Having the same mate is unusual for our kind.
Vampires are possessive, compulsive, deadly, and rarely share anything.
Obviously, it’s not impossible. I’ve met two vampires in my life who share a mate, and I’ve lived a long fucking time.
It will take adjustment and patience to share, neither of which we are good at.
Regardless of what I told the bear, sharing our toys as children and our life as vampires is completely different than sharing a mate.
Getting what I want is easy. I spent many years not caring about anyone but Luca and Allie.
As the years pass, I find humans weak and silly.
We hardly pay them any attention anymore.
Socializing with those of our kind is preferable, but we tend to keep to ourselves.
Making meaningful friendships with vampires and shifters is far and few.
Shade is our closest friend, and we work for him.
Moving past the urge to kill Luca, I felt the need strike again as the office filled with a bear, vampire, coyote hybrid, and snakes.
All of them in the same room, not by force, was a shock.
Their friendship is odd, yet fascinating.
Knowing Sally considered them family was the only reason we didn’t act on our desire to hurt them.
I am not immortal and can be killed. Micah and Heath would be worthy opponents in a fight.
I have confidence in my skills, and with Sally at stake, I would fight dirty.
Her family is important to her, and the panic in her scent made me hold back.
She smells like cherries and desire. We knew our mate was in the building as we approached.
Having a rabbit as a mate was surprising, but I don’t give a fuck what she is.
She’s stunning, and her scent, body, and personality call to my demon.
“It will be interesting to see what a rabbit vampire hybrid is like,” Luca mumbles.
“Interesting.” I follow Sally into a parking lot. “She already has fire. She’ll be unstoppable.”
“I want to turn her,” he grits out as I park.
“We have to be patient,” I remind him. Our demons want to mark her desperately, and we aren’t used to denying their demands.
“Fuck.” Luca is a man of few words.
“Yeah.” I’m almost as bad. Turning off the car, we speed to Sally’s before she gets her door open. It’s painful, but I concede to Luca as he helps her.
“Thanks,” she says, smiling at Luca. My knuckles crack. It has to get easier. She smooths down her skirt and turns. “Coming?” she tosses over her shoulder. I share a look with Luca and follow.
There has been no point in having a home. We travel the world for our jobs, so we don’t settle anywhere. Allie has a place but is rarely there. She goes where we go. Our home is with each other. It’s surreal as we follow our mate into hers.
“Come in,” she says, unlocking the door and holding it wide. The apartment is small but comfortable. Luca prowls around the space, but I watch Sally. She turns on the television and moves to the kitchen. “Drink?” she asks. I fight my smile. “I am not on the menu.” She grins.
“Nothing, thanks,” I say, cupping my hands behind my back.
“I’m good,” Luca mutters, bending down to look at some pictures on a shelf. Sally grabs a water, walks to the end of the counter, and jumps on it. I stand across from her and stare at her.
“I’ll just say it,” she says, waving her bottle. “We want to fuck, but we won’t.” I raise my brows.
“Why?” I ask, truly interested in her reasons.
“One.” She holds up a finger. “We know nothing about each other.” A second finger goes up.
“Two, I don’t think either of you can control your fangs.
I’m not ready to be turned into a vampire.
” The third finger flies up. “Three, the whole way here, my phone was going crazy. The news has spread through the family. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start showing up at the door.
I didn’t look. Texting and driving is bad, but I’m sure the group text is firing away. ”
“Group text,” I frown.
“Usually, I’m the one starting it, but someone must have. I’m really curious who did.” She takes a drink.
“I don’t text.” I’ve never been part of a group, so this is a mystery to me.
“What?” she gasps. “Take it back.”
“Is this a deal breaker?” I ask, trying not to laugh at her shocked expression.
“Hmm…” She taps her lip. “Are you willing to participate in the group text?”
“Do I have to?” I ask.
“Uh, yeah.”
“Can we do something else to replace texting?” I tilt my head.
“Like what?”
“We can make you come,” Luca says, and we look at him. He’s looking out the window. “We’re really good at that.” He yanks the curtains closed.
“I bet,” she mumbles.
“Perhaps you should judge for yourself,” I add, and desire mixes with her scent.
“Tempting.” She shifts, crossing her legs. “Unfortunately, that usually leads to fucking.”
“We can restrain ourselves,” I say.
“Sure,” Luca whispers, picking up a book beside the couch.
“What is your favorite color?” she asks.
“Black.” I grin.
“Same.” Luca thumbs through the pages.
“Yours?” I ask.
“All of them,” she says.
“Really?”
“I’m a colorful girl.” She shrugs.
“You must like flowers.” I nod to the yellow carnations behind her.
“Not really,” she whispers, and I narrow my eyes. Her scent changes, and the touch of sadness confuses me. “How old are you?”
“Three hundred.” Luca stops on a page.
“Three hundred plus,” I answer.
“Plus?” she laughs, and the sadness is gone.
“Allie is the oldest.”
“You always have to add the plus,” Luca grumbles, looking up.
“It’s an important fact.”
He rolls his eyes and drops his head.
“What do you like to eat?”
I grin. “Do you want the answer?”
“Shit.” She swallows harshly and looks away.
“Her pussy will be our favorite meal,” Luca says, and I laugh.
“I wasn’t going to say that,” I say.
“I know.” Fucking Luca.
“Honesty is good,” she mumbles, waving her hand at her face. “Are you hot? I’m hot. Maybe I need to change.”
“I wouldn't,” I warn.
“Why?”
“If you remove your clothes, you won’t be putting more on.” I cross my arms.
“A locked door won’t keep us out,” Luca grits out.
“Maybe I don’t want you in my bedroom.” She lifts her chin, and I can’t resist the challenge. She gasps as I push her legs apart as far as her skirt allows and step between them.
“Don’t lie,” I scold, gliding my hands up the outside of her thighs. “We can continue to play the game, but we know you want us.” I continue up her sides, grazing the outside of her breasts before cupping her face. “What do you want, Little Bunny?” Luca approaches behind me, abandoning the book.
“You do tempt me,” she says. “Both of you.” She lifts her palm, pressing it into my chest. “I like to play. I know what I want and what I like.” My jaw ticks as she slides her hand down.
I wait. “I am not opposed to a night of fun. I don’t need to know about someone to sleep with them.
” Luca growls. We don’t want to picture her with anyone else.
“But you are my mates. This is going to last more than a night.” She cups my cock, and I hiss.
“Who do you think can hold out the longest?” She lifts a brow, challenging, daring us to win. She strokes me once and pulls away.
“What are the rules?” I ask.
“The rules of seduction?” She asks, and I nod. “Anything.”
“Be specific,” Luca says.
“Words are always good.” She looks at my mouth.
“So, we can tell you we want you to be a good girl and spread for us.” I hear her heart skip.
“Yes.” She tilts her head. “I could say I want to suck your cock while Luca fucks me.” My eye twitches.
“What else?”
“Anything. Clothes optional,” she says.
“So whoever begs to be fucked is the loser.” I cup her neck.
“Our definition of a loser is different,” Luca grunts.
“Yes.” She pushes into my hand. “I will not call you Daddy or Sir.”
“How about Master?” Luca grins, and Sally laughs.
“I hope you are joking. I think I would explode if I uttered those words to a man,” she snorts. “Do you have the goods to back up such a title?” She wiggles her eyebrows.
“You’ll see,” he hums.
“Until then, I’ll call you my boyfriends,” she decides, and I shake my head. She’s fucking adorable. I don’t believe I’ve ever said the word adorable.
“Pick a word,” I say.
“Safe word?” she asks.
“Yes.”
“Rabbit's foot,” she says. “What’s your word?” I jerk back but then nod.
“Black,” I answer.
“Luca.” She looks at him.
“Nightmares,” he says gruffly.
“In between the game, we share stories about our lives. When I’m ready, we complete the bond, and I become the best combination of rabbit and vampire. Is it a deal?” She holds out her hand.
“We should seal the deal with a kiss,” I say.
“Alright.” She licks her lips, and drops her hand.
“We didn’t say where the kiss would be,” Luca rasps, and her eyes flare. Removing my hand, except for one finger, I glide it down her neck, down the deep vee of her top, and hook her bra.
“We have to admit, our first instinct was to fight over you,” I say, pulling slightly. “So, we need to kiss you at the same time. Just to prevent jealousy.”
“Oh, well.” She nods gravely. “If it will help.” I look at my brother and grin. He steps beside me. I shift so we stand on either side of her legs.
