Page 10 of Daring Her Vampires (Embracing The Bond #12)
“I don’t like to play games,” I state, leaning down further. “Give me your mouth.” Her gaze moves over my face, her smile soft. I don’t move, waiting for her choice. Sally has all the power in our relationship. I like to be demanding, but she has the choice of whether to follow directions.
She takes a step closer, her hands press against my stomach, and she offers her lips.
Moving slowly, she brushes against me, the heat of her body soaking through my suit.
My nostrils flare as she rises on her toes, getting as close as possible without my participation.
A deep growl escapes a second before I take her mouth.
Craving someone's kiss is a temptation I have never felt. Until Sally. The moment our lips meet, I can’t imagine living without her taste.
I should go slow. I should savor. Nothing can hold my possession back.
Her hot mouth opens, and I don’t hesitate.
Fuck, she tastes like mine.
Her hands slide up my chest and fist the labels of my jacket.
She groans into my mouth when I suck on her tongue, and I feel it in my cock.
She tests every ounce of my restraint, and my nails dig into the wall.
I want her naked underneath me, taking my bite and giving me her blood.
I won’t be able to drink from a blood bag again.
The thought of it repulses me as I revel in my mate and the scent of her blood.
This was meant to be. We are supposed to feed from her, turn her, and be with her forever.
“Damn, can I join? She looks like a feisty one. I would love to try her out.”
I jerk back, hissing at the human stumbling down the hallway. Before I can kill him, Sally is in front of him, her hand on his throat. I blink. I didn’t see her move.
“You think you can handle me,” she says, smirking.
She pushes him against the railing with her hand, squeezing his neck.
“Do you think you are worthy of me? Or him?” Atlas speeds around the corner and stops abruptly.
“I was having a perfectly pleasant time kissing my mate. You had to be a dick and ruin it.” Blood drips down his neck, her nails digging into his skin.
“Fuck,” he whispers, his hands gripping the steel as he leans further over it. “I didn’t mean anything by it.”
“Then why did you say it?” Sally grits out. The man is a foot taller than her and twice as wide. She stands on her toes, the muscles in her arms tense.
“Please,” he mumbles, his eyes wide on her face.
“Is this feisty enough for you?” She grins.
“Shit, I knew there would be blood,” River says, laughing. He stops at the corner, holding a cupcake, and staring at Sally.
“Oh, crap.” Roxanne jerks to a stop beside him. “Should we stop her?” she whispers.
“Fuck no,” I say, pushing from the wall. “I knew our rabbit had more tricks.” I stop beside them.
“Little Bunny,” Atlas says, his lips twitching. “Are you going to kill him?” He steps to the other side of them.
“I haven’t decided,” she sings, touching her tongue to the side of her mouth. “He’s rude and lacks respect.”
“I’ll let you think about it,” Atlas replies, nodding.
“What did he say?” Saphira asks. I glance at the crowd gathered at the end of the hall.
“He wanted to join because I looked feisty,” Sally informs them, and silence descends. “He wanted to try me out.”
“What?” Micah snarls, and the crowd parts to let him through. Heath, Bash, and Ryker follow.
“I got it,” Sally says, looking over her shoulder. Atlas steps in front of her family, ensuring they allow her to handle it. “I could kill you.” She drops to her heels, pulling him until his head is lowered to her level. “Don’t ever speak to a woman like that again. Are you single?”
“Yes,” he says, gasping.
“You will remain that way if you treat women with disrespect,” she lectures.
“I won't do it again,” he promises, and Sally narrows her eyes. “I swear.”
“Tricks, his blood is dripping,” I mention. Her strength turns me on, but I don’t want to smell his blood on her.
“Damn, I love this dress.” She drops her hand and steps back quickly. The human falls to his knees, sucking in air. “Can I use your bathroom, Ryker?”
“Of course,” he says before turning to Serenity.
“Will you unlock it?” She nods and moves toward Sally.
Saphira and Roxanne hurry behind them. Once they are through the door, Atlas grabs the man by the arm, his teeth showing.
“Let’s take him out the back.” Ryker points to another set of stairs to the right.
“I’ll wait,” I say, nodding at Atlas. He drags the human away, following Ryker. Bash and Micah trail behind them.
The conversation resumes, and everyone except Allie wanders back to the room. She glides to my side, leaning beside me.
“Well,” she says, smacking her lips. “I love her.”
“I’m glad.” I shake my head. “But I’m not surprised.”
“Are you alright?” she asks, laying her head on my shoulder.
“About which part?” I scoff.
“The important part,” she answers.
“I want her. She makes me feel,” I confess softly.
“You haven’t felt much of anything for years,” she says.
“It’s an odd feeling.” I frown.
“This means you’ll have to tell her about our life.”
“I know.”
“It won’t be easy.”
“I realize that.” We haven’t shared our past with anyone.
“She’s strong and bold.” She tips her head back. “She can handle it.”
“I have no doubt,” I mutter, looking at the closed door to the office.
“I like all of them.”
I focus on her face. “It’s the family you’ve always wanted.”
“Yes. For all of us.”
“We need to kill Fredrick. Soon,” I say gruffly.
“I know,” she agrees, standing straight.
“I have to tell her everything.”
She cringes. “Be honest.”
“She won’t blame you.” Allie holds immense guilt, blaming herself for years because of Fredrick. “I thought we got past this.”
“We did, but—” The door opens beside us, and Allie’s face clears.
“No blood on the dress,” Sally announces, her eyes moving between us. “Is everything alright?” She stops at my side.
“Yes,” Allie says. “I was telling my brother how much I like you.”
“You’re sweet.” Sally grips my arm.
“I’m ready for a drink,” Allie says.
“Let’s get you one,” Roxanne says, touching Sally’s back lightly as she moves past. The others take her cue.
“Tell me the truth,” Sally says once they are gone, and I tense. “Did that turn you on or off?” she asks, surprising me.
“On.” I grin.
“Good.” She grins back but sobers quickly. “I’ve never needed a man to run to the rescue. Some guys get their feelings hurt by my lack of dependence on them. I can take care of myself.”
“It was hot as fuck,” I state. “We don’t think you are weak or in need of rescue. That doesn’t mean I won’t kill someone for fucking with you in the future. I’ll always give you the option of the first hit.” I cup the side of her neck. “We won’t try to control you. We want to be in this together.”
“Thank you.” She turns her head, kissing my palm. “Just because I don’t want to be controlled doesn’t mean I don’t get wet from your possessiveness.”
“You’re going to be wet a lot.” I drop my hand and glide it from her hip to the middle of her back, guiding her down the hallway, and she laughs.
“I can’t wait.”
My past is messy, and telling Sally will be uncomfortable. But it will be worth it. She is worth it.
I didn’t expect her, but I can’t imagine not having her.
