Chapter Twenty-One
Sally
S o fucking hungry. I rip open Atlas’s shirt and lick his chest. Luca’s blood hit the spot, but I’m ready for more.
I drag my open mouth over his neck. I taste the skin there, picking the spot I want to mark.
Biting them feels natural. I want everyone to know they belong to me.
Sliding my fangs in the crook of his neck, I moan in pleasure as his blood combines with his brother's.
I feel it merging with mine, giving me life.
It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt. They are inside me, a comforting presence.
I can feel their satisfaction from feeding their mate and their relief.
They were worried about me. The pain of the change was excruciating, and I’m glad it’s over.
I was awake but not. My body was stuck in limbo as it changed, hardened, and became a vampire.
In my head, I was screaming, but I knew I looked peaceful.
I pictured myself writhing in agony, my limbs twisted.
It was as if my blood was boiling. I kept picturing the life we will have together, and the love I have for them.
Their blood gives me power. Energy flows through the room, and the bond is complete. I feel like nothing can touch me. All my problems disappear, and they are the only thing I can think of. Their blood. Their bodies. More. More.
“Fuck, I can hear you,” Atlas grits out, his hands gripping my ass. “Luca?”
“Yes,” he says. I frown and remove my teeth.
“What?” I ask, licking my fang. I can’t waste any of his blood.
“Tricks, we can hear you,” Luca says, and I tilt my head.
“We heard what you are thinking,” Atlas explains. No shit.
“No shit,” Luca laughs, and his fangs retract.
“That could be dangerous,” I whisper. So, they will be able to hear every dirty thought I have.
“Yes.” Atlas smirks. “It could come in handy.” I smack his chest and he grunts.
“A girl has to have some secrets,” I hiss.
“We can help you control it.” Luca moves closer, cupping my neck. “It will take practice. Everything you are feeling is being pushed through the bond.”
“Tell me how,” I demand.
“Picture building a wall, guarding those emotions,” he instructs. I close my eyes and look within. I picture a block and build it up.
“It’s crumbling,” I pout, as the wall falls.
“It will take patience,” Atlas says, and I open my eyes. “You’re too distracted. Everything will come with time.”
“I like drinking your blood,” I whisper, staring at his neck.
“That will be all you can think about for a while,” Luca says.
“I like seeing my mark.” I was possessive of them before, but this is a whole new level.
“We do too,” Atlas rumbles and touches my neck.
My senses have always been enhanced. As I stare at them, I realize my vampire has added to the gifts of my rabbit, and the world is brighter.
My boyfriends are sexy, but now I see them clearly.
I can hear their heartbeats pulsing along with mine.
I hear everything from miles away. Luca drops his hand, and I want it back.
My skin tingles, and desire pumps through me.
My mind is scattered, jumping from one thought to another.
I want to drink more, but I also want to see my fangs.
“Go look.” Atlas laughs, and I glare. I have to work on building that wall. In a split second, I’m standing in the bathroom.
What the fuck?
“You’ll adapt to the speed,” Luca says, standing behind me.
I shake my head and look into the mirror.
Gripping the counter, I lean forward, staring at my wicked teeth.
I touch the tip of my fang, and a thrill goes down my spine.
I’m not afraid, only eager to try out my new body.
My eyes are gorgeous. I grin. I liked them before, but seeing the white ring announcing I’m a mated vampire makes them extra special.
My hair looks fantastic. It’s fluffy and brighter.
Easing back, I look over my body. It feels the same, yet not.
Everything is in its place, but I feel stronger.
I have muscles where I was soft, as if I’m unbreakable.
I twist back and forth. My image blurs in the mirror, and my eyes widen. The speed will trip me up for a while.
“How do you feel?” Atlas asks.
“Can’t you tell?” I ask.
“Until you can block your thoughts, I’m trying to stay out of them,” he says.
“That’s so sweet,” I say, and Luca rolls his eyes at his brother.
“Fine,” Luca grumbles. “I’ll do it too.”
“Thanks, boyfriend.” I smile. “My rabbit is happy. We were meant to be a hybrid. It’s odd because I feel the presence of this other being.
Something stronger, more lethal. It’s not bad, just unusual.
I think our emotions are separate from the demon right now but will soon become one.
I have three personalities that are fierce, wanting different things. ”
“We will help you as much as possible,” Atlas says.
“Everything will even out, and soon you won’t think of them separately,” Luca explains.
“My vampire wants control,” I say, pressing my palm to my chest. “She wants to feed.”
“What does your rabbit want?” Atlas asks, smiling.
“She wants you to fuck her,” I say.
“And you?” Luca lifts a brow.
“I want to run. Blurring is thrilling.” I turn to face them.
“I also want all of the above.” So many tempting decisions.
“Let’s do everything. What time is it?” I think about the clock in the bedroom, and then I’m standing in front of it.
“Damn.” I laugh. “Three in the morning.” I spin toward them.
“Blur first, then feed, and then sex.” I nod and walk into my closet.
“I see how we rank,” Luca teases.
“We can feed her while fucking her,” Atlas says.
“I like that plan.” I grab my jeans and tear the seam. “Oh, no.” I stare at my ruined jeans. “It’s going to take a long time to adjust to my strength.” Atlas appears in the closet, and I look at him sadly.
“Point to what you want,” he says softly. Pointing, I gasp as he drops to his knees.
“Atlas,” I whisper.
“Lift your foot.” I stare at the top of his head as he dresses me.
“Thank you.” He stands with a boyish grin, and I fall deeper in love. All the emotions I felt before for my boyfriends are magnified.
“Leave my shirt on,” he instructs, winking. By the time I get my wits together and leave the closet, he’s wearing a new shirt.
“I’m so excited.” I walk slowly toward them, holding my arms wide, as I attempt to slow my pace.
“We can see that,” Luca says dryly, his eyes sparkling.
“Hold my hand,” Atlas laughs, holding his hand out. I gratefully take it and I feel more grounded. My blood is pumping hard as we leave the apartment. They lead me to the darkest area around the back of the building.
“Walking in the shadows takes concentration and practice,” Luca says. “The difficulty is maintaining the speed and not revealing yourself to humans.”
“We have to be careful when we stop. It can’t be in a crowded area,” Atlas adds.
“When we reach a certain speed, it doesn’t matter how many humans are around us, as long as you don’t bump into them.
If you do, we will have to change the memories of numerous people.
” I nod like a good student as he pauses.
“We will hold your hands until you get the hang of it. That way, we can keep going if you falter.”
“It might help if we pick a location you have been to,” Luca says.
“How about Quinn’s office? You can think of being there, and it might help guide you,” Atlas says, lifting his brows. “Do you understand? Any questions?” I nibble on my finger.
“Yes,” I say slowly, removing my finger and pointing at him.
“Yes, what?” he asks.
“A question.” I bob my finger. “Can you repeat all that?” I wiggle my fingers in a circle. Luca laughs, and I grin at them. “All I can smell is your blood, and my mind is fuzzy.” Atlas shakes his head, but smiles.
I think this is the longest I have been without my phone.
Craving the weight of it in my hand is the last emotion I’m feeling.
The family is going to freak the fuck out when they find out that I changed.
Usually, when a new member of the family is changed, several of us are present.
I should feel bad about leaving them out, but I don’t.
This was personal, and I knew there was no chance I wouldn’t wake up.
I finally have my chance at happiness. I wouldn’t miss it.
Telling them tomorrow will have to do. Or is it today?
Later. Whatever. Atlas’s hand is warm in mine, and the touch of his skin tempts me to say, fuck it, and go back inside.
“Are you good?” Atlas asks, and I blink. I must have been successful in shielding my thoughts because he’s looking at me like I was listening to him repeat everything.
“Got it.” I smile and give him a thumbs up. Luca looks suspicious. “I’m ready,” I say brightly.
“Tricks, are you sure?” Luca asks.
“Yes.” I shift from one foot to the other.
I’m going to attack this like everything else in my life, with guts and trial and error.
“Ready, set, go.” I take a step, and suddenly I’m flying across the ground.
Turning my head back and forth, my boyfriends are beside me.
The world blurs around us, yet it’s as if we are taking a stroll.
It’s the world that is moving at a different speed.
The wind blows through my hair, but gently.
We move at a pace that defies the elements.
My mates guide me around the humans as we pass.
They have no idea that vampires are blowing by them.
I want to laugh with joy, but I’m not sure if the sound will travel to them.
It would give them a good story, hearing a voice flying through the air, coming from nowhere.
