Story: Danger
Monterey
Headline News: Danger Hudson is at it again. The Indy racing world may need to put the brakes on Danger’s partying.
Indy race car driver, Danger Hudson, lives up to his name, yet again, by partying at the Breckell Mansion. The twenty-four-year-old driver, who races with Grander Racing, has been arrested three times in the past six months. Allegedly for drugs and driving way too fast. Danger’s reportedly been off the charts since joining the racing team in late April.
Luther Grander and his daughter, Monterey, signed Danger onto their team after spotting him on the Formula Three racing circuit, and grabbed him and put him into an Indy Grander car alongside his teammate, Mandarin Chase.
It’s rumored Danger replaced longtime boyfriend of Monterey Grander, Thad Jeffries, after they broke up last year due to Thad not being serious enough for Monterey. Thad Jeffries is now racing with the Hammond Team, and can’t be more thrilled to finish this season strong. He thinks Grander’s new replacement Danger is a joke and an embarrassment to the sport.
Monterey Grander lost out big time on keeping Thad. Too bad. But don’t worry ladies, he’s still single and he’s happy to not be tied down to the ol’ ball and chain as he puts it.
With only ten races left in the season, will Danger be able to walk the straight and narrow? Will the Granders be able to keep this bad boy under control?
At seventeen, Danger held the record for fastest time set by anyone in the Quarter Midgets for three years in a row. His childhood is shrouded in mystery and there’s no record of him or his real name before the age of twelve. Did his mother really name him Danger? What do we really know about this mysterious man? We know he’s got a killer driving ability to burn up a race track. His speed and accuracy on the course is something other drivers envy.
One thing is certain, Danger knows how to get a crowd pumped up.
What do you think of the man Grander has declared will take their team all the way to victory?
We have some opinions here:
Dr. Martin Scarborough, psychologist from John Hopkins University, “Danger appears to be experiencing abandonment issues probably brought on by a mother or father leaving him. There isn’t much we know about the man’s childhood, but I can gather by his actions he didn’t have the most pleasant of one.”
Hailey Bloom, Hollywood actress who reportedly spent one night with Danger, “Let me just say, this man has some serious skills in the bedroom. He’s also not a talker. Kind of dark, broody, and when I asked him to call me the next day he laughed. Not that I cared, I would never date a guy like him.”
Veronica Chastain, Supermodel, “Danger was tons of fun! I loved our time together!”
Chief Roger Dean, Chief of Police in Los Angeles, “Danger Hudson walks a very thin line between what’s legal and illegal. I’ve seen him scooped up many times for illegal racing as well as partying and drugs just in the past year that he’s popped up onto the scene.”
So, again, who is Danger Hudson? Do you know? Have any wild guesses? Drop them into the comments below.

Honeybear32: I think he might be the old pornstar Richie Walens who left the industry two years ago.
BlackWidowGamer: He’s a loser. Too bad he’ll never amount to much.
*DancingPrincess*: I love Danger and I don’t care who he is. I want to have his babies!!!
Loserville227: He’s obviously a deranged only child seeking attention in the form of dangerous acts. Did you see him in that video? Link below, he’s got a death wish.

KellyBelly: Maybe he just hasn’t found the right woman yet!!!
Ugh. I’ll give Thad Jeffries a ball and chain around his neck.
And Danger Hudson, double ugh.
I shut off the computer, unable to read even one more article about the man who America has deemed ‘The Playboy of Racing.’ KellyBelly thinks Danger hasn’t met the right woman yet, ha. He’s met plenty of women.
Every woman who looks at him sees their innermost fantasies come to life. It isn’t his fault he was born to look like pure sex. And I don’t mean the good-boy-nice type of sex either. No, I mean the you’re-sore-the-next-day-and-have-a-lifetime-of-naughty-memories kind of sex. He looks like he’d be rough with you one minute and then super gentle the next.
He’s a walking, talking advertisement for the right type of dirty sex you’ve always dreamed about having but were too afraid to even think about asking for.
My phone rings on the granite countertop of my kitchen, breaking me from my thoughts about our team’s newest driver. Grander Racing was started by my father many years ago when I was just a little girl. Luther Grander was a driver with a promising future that took a curve too quickly and ended up in a wheelchair. Now he runs the Grander Racing Team.
And soon, he’s set to retire and I plan on stepping up to take his place. If I can prove to him I’m serious about the job. Also, I didn’t have the greatest press when Thad Jeffries and I broke up. More like the jerk cheated on me, and I was left trying to clean up the media aftermath.
I scramble off my shabby-chic oversized sofa, padding into the kitchen to grab my cell off the counter. “Hello.”
“Monterey, hope you’re not busy,” my father says. “Need a favor.” He knows I’ll do whatever he asks. He should know by now I’m serious about proving myself and taking over his company.
Well, our company.
“Anything,” I say, hoping it’s something simple and not something that involves leaving my comfy ranch-style home in the Hills of LA.
“It’s Danger, he’s been arrested.” He takes a deep breath. “Again.”
Of course he has. “What is it this time? Drugs? Alcohol? Oh wait” —I tap my chin— “let me guess, street racing?”
“Yeah that,” my father says, going into a lengthy explanation of which precinct he’s in and to bring him to my father’s house once I’ve grabbed him.
Every time we’re in LA for a race, Danger gets picked up for illegal street racing. I don’t know where he finds these people. No one knows anything about where he came from. It’s weird, and I remember telling my father we should tread carefully before signing him to our team’s roster this year.
But my father brushed me off, saying we needed Danger to win. And so far this season, Danger’s held an impressive lead.
I hang up the phone once I’ve got all the details, and head off to get ready to pick this man up. I make my way downtown in record time, and once Danger walks through the doors, my breath is knocked out of my chest.
It really is a shame that he looks absolutely sinful. And I swear every time I’m near him my heart does something funny. But then I remember why I’m here and what Danger is costing our company by his blatant disregard for keeping himself from being arrested.
“Get in.” I motion to the passenger side door of my white convertible Mercedes. I need to get him to my father’s house, so Dad can lay into him for what is once again ‘reckless behavior.’
He stares at me for a moment, and I’m not sure if he’s expecting me to open his door, or what. And then he offers me that megawatt smile that everyone loves most about him. All pearly white teeth sparkle in the low light of the street lamp, and I roll my eyes.
“Sure thing, sweetheart.” He slides into the car like he owns it.
I get behind the wheel and start the engine. “You’re out of control. You can’t control anything in your life.”
He turns to face me, his dark brown eyes searing into me. “That’s where you’re wrong. I have control over everything. You don’t think I could get behind the wheel of a race car and drive it above two-hundred miles per hour without losing it, if I didn’t practice control in all things.”
He has me there. “It’s not that hard to drive.”
He leans closer, the smell of him tickling my nose and making me come alive with fire. “You race?”
I raise my chin in the air, not wanting him to see me coming undone before him. “Yes, as a matter of fact, I can race. You don’t grow up with a father like mine and not know how to handle a car.”
He leans even closer, our noses almost touching. I can lick him if I wanted. And boy do I want to. “Prove it.” He nods toward the street.
“Fine, I will.” I rev up the engine, making sure I’m ready to go. I’m almost ready to punch the accelerator, but then realize I can’t very well fly out of the police station parking lot. I think that’s what Danger wants. I think he wants me to end up right where he was moments before I picked him up. In jail for racing illegally in the streets of LA. No, instead of pulling away from the curb like I'm a speed racer, I gently press the pedal like I’m driving Miss Daisy.
He laughs. “That’s what I thought.” He slinks down into the seat, getting comfortable and pulls his ball cap over his eyes.
I don’t care if he’s laughing at me. I won’t disobey the speed limit to prove a point.
Sure, maybe staring at him a little bit too long may be a bit dangerous. However, I’m a big girl who can control my sexual urges. And believe me, it will never happen between Danger and me, so I don’t even let my mind travel there… often. It’s not like he’s the type of guy I could bring home to my father.
* * *
“What were you thinking? Street racing?” The deep harsh look of my father’s angered eyes are directed solely on Danger.
Danger sits on the sofa in my father’s study at almost midnight with a small smirk on his face. “It was just a little fun.”
My father moves around the room in his motorized wheelchair, where I delivered Danger to him. “Danger, we have to keep our investment sound. We’ve only got ten more races left of the season, and I can’t have you illegally street racing all around town.”
Danger shuffles in his seat, hanging his head low. Keeping a leash on the infamous Danger Hudson is something my father has struggled with since he signed him to our team’s roster.
Personally, I’m not really sure why my father puts up with him at all. Sure, he’s a great driver, and one of the quickest and most skilled I’ve ever seen, but there are others who can drive well enough.
My father had pulled me aside before signing him, and told me with Danger on our team we’d be sure to win.
So, as the good daughter, I went along with my father’s ideas. I like to think of my father and I as partners in the racing business. We own the team together. We make most decisions together.
Well, he makes most, and I usually just agree with him.
But just for the record, I was never on board with Danger.
My father crosses the room, and ends up next to his best friend and lawyer, Bill. “Anyone want a drink? Bill? Monterey?” He smiles. “Danger, I’m not offering you any.”
I laugh a little under my breath, my eyes meeting Danger’s dark ones from across the room. I decline my father’s offer for a drink.
“I have an idea,” my father states as he swirls the amber liquid of his drink around in his glass. “It’s a risky one.”
I’m all ears. “What is it?” I’m half-hoping my father will tell me we’re cutting Danger from the team. I almost wish for it.
“Well, we know controlling the media on Danger is impossible. Everywhere he goes he’s like a media nightmare come to life. I think they follow him because they know there’s a good story coming.”
Danger smiles.
“Well, maybe you should ground him to his room.” I cross my arms and Danger’s smile fades instantly.
“We need to showcase him in a better light,” Bill adds.
“That’s what I’m thinking.” My father turns to face me. “Monterey, what if we say the two of you are engaged. You two are madly in love. The media loves a good redemption story. Bad boy tamed by the daughter of a racing tycoon. It’s perfect.”
I think I stopped listening after the word engaged. My eyes widen. “I...uhh.” My mouth snaps shut and no more words come out.
Does the media even like me?
Danger’s having the same reaction on the other side of the room. “Engaged to her?” He jabs a thumb over his shoulder, pointing it directly at me. “No one will believe that one.” He appears horrified.
This angers me and instead of acting out, I plaster on my best sweet smile. “Why wouldn’t anyone believe it?”
Danger stands, controlling the room as he moves across the hardwood. “Because you and I don’t fit, sweetheart.”
“Don’t call me that.” There has to be another idea. “Dad, can’t you just make him be good.”
Danger laughs along with my father like together they’re in some boy’s club where no women are allowed. They should be smoking cigars and drinking bourbon, instead of trying to ruin my life.
“Don’t you think we’ve tried?”
“Well, cut him from the team,” I snap out.
Danger’s dark eyes widen. “No, I can pretend to be engaged for a little while.”
“You can’t seriously be on board with this idea.” I turn to face him. This is a very bad idea, it has disaster written all over it.
“Sure, maybe it’ll be fun.”
My father laughs. “Yes, but not too much fun. Monterey, just think about it. The two of you will make headlines. The couple that was never expected. Think about how many women will be jealous of you.”
I roll my eyes. “I have some conditions.” When my father gets the glint of gold he has right now in his eyes I know there’s no arguing. And I won’t go down without a fight.
“Sure, anything,” my father answers. “Bill, take notes of her conditions and we’ll have Danger sign them.”
“I won’t have him cheat on me. I don’t need to be made a fool of in the public eye.” Again. “Even if you think you’re not going to get caught by the media, that doesn’t mean you won’t.”
Danger nods. “No women.” He shakes his head, running his fingers through the sexy mop of black hair disheveled all over his head. I’m sure asking Danger not to sleep with women is like asking the pope not to pray.
“No women. And no kissing. And no touching. We can hold hands once, maybe. And absolutely no nicknames. And I don’t want any contact with you at all really.”
Danger laughs. “Oh sweetheart, we’re gonna have to put on a show. No one will believe this facade if I’m not all over you in public.”
I step closer to him, poking his rock hard chest with my finger. “If you lay one finger on me,” I step even closer, “I’ll break it.”
He smiles, his eyes challenging mine, this man is infuriating. “I will touch you and kiss you and pretend like we are a happy couple in love. Because we need to make sure the media believes it. Buckle up, baby, this will be the race of your life.”
I hate that my body betrays me at this very moment and I might actually be looking forward to this.
