He smiled at that. “Yeah. I know. What I meant was, have you ever thought about being with a woman? Or have you always known you were into men?”
“I’ve known since I was a young boy. Nikolai said I couldn’t possibly know until I’ve bedded a woman, or bedded anyone for that matter, but that’s not true. I didn’t need to fuck or kiss anyone to know who I am and what I want.”
“And you wanted me?”
“Iwantyou. I have ever since the very first time I saw you. That hasn’t changed.” I didn’t see it ever changing. Daman called to something deep inside of me, as if a piece of him had been with me since the day I was born, and now that we were together, that piece reached out for him.
We were connected in a way I couldn’t explain.
He cleared his throat and glanced at his tablet. “Wasn’t I hungover the first time we met?”
“Yes. The first words you ever said to me were, ‘What the hell are you staring at?’”
He snorted. “Fuck. I’m such a dick. Sorry about that.”
“No need to apologize.” I wrapped my hands around my steaming mug, letting it warm my palms. “Honestly, I found you adorable, even when you were grouchy.”
“Adorable?” Daman grinned. “That’s not really a word I hear anyone use when talking about me. I’m used to other A words, like asshole and abomination.”
“Abomination?”
“Yeah. Most angels detest Nephilim. They think we’re abominations who need to be destroyed. But really? They’re scared shitless because we’re just as strong, if not stronger, than they are.”
“Lazarus doesn’t feel this way?” I asked, remembering the time I had met the white-haired angel. His strict stone when speaking to Alastair and the others gave me the impression that no love existed between them.
“Lazarus only lets us live because we serve a purpose,” Daman explained. “He needs us. Well, he needs our blood and the strength it gives us. Take that purpose away, and he’d probably kill us himself.” He rested the mug against his lips. Snow drifted from the sky behind him as he sat motionless on the window seat. “This is the longest conversation I’ve had with someone other than my brothers in years. Most people would be sick of me by now.”
“I enjoy learning about you.” I liked hearing his voice, period. The soft rasp when he spoke certain words made my blood heat.
“Is Armen coming back later?” He returned to his drawing, brown hair falling into his face. Did he use it as a type of shield? Another barrier he hid behind when he didn’t want to face the world?
“I told him to take the rest of the day off. He’s been working hard and deserves a break. Nikolai invited us to dine with him this evening, so we can cook something small for lunch if we get hungry.”
“Cool.”
I couldn’t see his screen from the angle he was holding the tablet. He’d told me he liked to draw monsters and dragons. Was he drawing one of them now?
“If you want to see it, Warrin, just ask.”
My cheeks heated. “May I?”
Daman stood from the bench, and I noisily swallowed when the blanket fell to the floor and I saw the soft bulge in the crotch of his gray sweats. He’d tasted so damn good when I’d sucked his cock. I wanted to taste him again.
I didn’t know what to make of all these new feelings. One taste of Daman and I’d become an addict. I wanted more.
So much more.
My breath caught as he knelt in front of my chair, sitting between my legs as he faced me. The heat of his body warmed my inner thighs, and my cock started to fill.
“I fucking love that,” Daman whispered, his green eyes studying my face. “The way your whole body responds to me.” He smiled. “And now you’re blushing again.”
“I apologize.”
He snorted. “Don’t be sorry for blushing. You can’t help it.”
I lowered my gaze to my mug.
“Hey. I like it when you blush.” Daman took the coffee from me and placed it on the side table before sliding his hands up my stomach, his body pressing right against my crotch as he stood on his knees in front of me. “Do you still wanna see what I’m drawing?”
