I didn’t know. I didn’t know I had a brain tumor growing inside my head, so how the hell was I supposed to know if I was okay after the tumor was gone? “I’m good.”
At least, I hoped I was. Once Birdie got here, I knew I would feel better.
Chapter Seventeen
Birdie
“Tell me when it starts to get blurry.” I slowly moved my fingers away from Easy and waited for him to tell me to stop.
“Are you even moving?” he chuckled.
I rolled my eyes and stepped back. “How about now?”
“Still clear.”
I tipped my head to the side. “Easy, this is amazing.” My hand was five feet away, and he could see it clearly.
“I guess that headache cleared up some shit with my eyes,” he remarked.
“Maybe, though, I don’t really know.” I moved back some more, and he held up his hand.
“Getting blurry.”
I was a good six feet away from him now. “Wow.” I had partly been expecting to have to rush Easy to the hospital, but I didn’t think we would need to.
“Is he okay?” Gwen asked.
We were in the common room of the clubhouse, and I was giving Easy a very primitive eye exam. “I think he’s the best he's been in a while.”
“Good enough to take my bike around the block?” Easy asked.
“No!” Gwen and I exclaimed in unison.
“Jesus,” Gambler chuckled.
“Come and eat,” Greta called. “I’m not going to let good tacos go to waste, so you better come eat them before I do.”
Easy stepped to me and grabbed my hand.
“I brought you some tacos,” I smiled up at him.
He pressed a kiss to the back of my hand and pulled me into his arms. “Hopefully, Greta didn’t eat them all.” He pressed a quick kiss to my lips and pulled me over to the table filled with tacos, nachos, and enchiladas.
“Did you leave anything for the rest of the customers?” Gambler chuckled.
Greta bent over and pulled a brown bag from under the table. “We also got strawberry margaritas to go.”
“Why am I not surprised,” Easy laughed. He grabbed a plate and handed it to me. “After you, Doc.”
I loaded my plate with a little bit of everything and grabbed a tall glass of margarita from Greta.
“Bottoms up,” she giggled.
“I don’t know if I like you and my sister being so chummy,” Easy grumbled.
“Why?” I wondered.
“Because wherever Greta is, trouble follows.”
