I walk over to Jax and grab him by the hair and yank his head up. “Time for me to fuck some omegas.”

Shawn keeps glancing back, checking my progress. Once the last strap is unfastened, Shawn swoops in and grabs Mal by the hair before he can get away and drags him over to Jax, forcing Mal to his knees.

I spot two safety guys standing back in the trees, one holding a tranq gun at the ready.

Shawn drags Mal over to a large pink painted circle, with a clear arrow pointing the way, and pink safety tape on either side of the starting chute for twenty feet on either side.

He shoves Mal down to the ground and grabs the back of his neck. “Pink paint. Cones. Shift, pup.”

Mal does, and Shawn looks back at me as he keeps hold of Mal’s scruff. “Shift and bugle. Make it look good, and make it fucking loud.”

I do, pawing the ground for good measure.

Shawn shakes his head. I sense he’s barely hanging on. “Drop them!” he yells, and he slaps Mal on the ass to get him moving. Shawn immediately shifts and takes off after him. I glance over where the four guys have literally dove out the door and are streaking for cover behind the guy with the tranq gun.

Jax roars inside the barn. I give it another two seconds before I paw the ground again, bugle, and take off after Mal and Shawn.

I hope Mal isn’t too far gone to follow the trail. I thought I’d marked it really well, but I didn’t take into account that he’s never run one before. Not in a mating heat, at least, and not the way we run and mark them, either.

Ahead of me, I see Mal try to veer off-course. Shawn body-slams him, biting at his heels to steer him back onto the trail. Behind me, I hear Jax howl, meaning he’s now free and shifted.

I pour on speed, closing my gap between Mal and Shawn to less than fifteen yards, Shawn having to course-correct Mal two more times before we’re even halfway to the clearing.
