I sipped my tea as I watched the news. My eyes were glued to the screen. A home was on fire a few towns over from mine. The fire that took place raged wildly. There was a mass of news reporters that covered the story.

As the female reporter reported how scary the fire was, her cameraman focused on a wooden stick behind the reporter. The image was blurred out, but according to the reporter a body was dismembered, and a man’s head was pierced by the wooden stick and staked in the grass.

I covered my mouth with my hands. Oh wow. Who in their right mind would do something like that? My mind instantly flew to Cache. Could my baby be that deranged? Was he responsible?

A deep voice filled my room, and I damn near jumped out of my skin.

“Morning, butterfly. What’s got you so scared?” Cache queried, leaning against my room door.

My eyes shifted from him to the TV then back at him. His eyes left me and flitted to the TV. Cache stared at the screen, and as if the realization of what story the reporters reported hit him, he chuckled. The man laughed. It was not a full belly laugh, but he was surely tickled.

“Cache, what’s going on? Where have you been? You had me so worried because you weren’t here when I woke up,” I expressed in a sad tone.

He pushed away from the door and set the food bag down on my table. Cache lowered the guard rail on my bed and laid next to me. He winced a bit, and my eyes flew to where he held his side.

“Wha—”

I went to bombard him with questions, but he placed his finger on my lips. He reached inside the bag and removed what looked like my favorite lip gloss brand.

Gently, he held my chin and painted my lips. I exhaled when he was done. I probably looked like I took on several mama birds, but with my favorite lip gloss on, you couldn’t tell me shit.

“Don’t worry about me. Just know you are still the most beautiful woman in the world to me, butterfly. I’m sorry I didn’t come to you right away, but I had business to take care of.” He nodded his head at the TV.

“I didn’t want to assume that was you, but I had a feeling,” I admitted softly.

“There is nothing to feel bad about, beautiful. I told you I’d burn this world down for you.

There was no way I’d let them get away with hurting you.

That ain’t even me, and you know that. Now that you know how far I can go, are you afraid of me?

Do you still want me?” Cache probed, gazing in my eyes.

A lonesome tear trailed down my face.

“You’re a sweet, kind, and thoughtful man. I could never be afraid of you, nor do I ever want to lose you. I’m so blessed to have a man like you in my life. I love you, Cache. Thank you for choosing me, protecting me, and picturing your life with me.”

He blushed. I loved when he did. It was further proof that I meant just as much to him as he did to me.

“I’ll forever do whatever it takes to keep you happy, loved, and sexually pleased. You beat me to the punch because I planned to tell you this morning that I loved you. I’m a lil salty about that, but I’ll live. Thank you for seeing the real me and accepting the real me.

“I know it can’t be easy dealing with a man who lives a real gangsta lifestyle, and for that, I appreciate you so much more. You really are my dream girl, Hevyn. I’m madly in love with you. So much so that I want you to move in with me.

“If you can’t trust nothing I’ve said or done, you know for a fact that I only want you.

I know I’m asking for a lot, but I need you around me as many hours of the day that I can get.

Waking up to you and going to sleep with you by my side would really make me a happy and full man.

You don’t have to rush and answer, but I’ll take an answer as soon as possible. ”

“Yes!” I blurted.

“Yes what?” Cache quizzed with his brow raised.

I exhaled and caressed his bearded cheek.

“Yes, I’ll move in with you. I’m ready to take that next step in life with you.

I can’t run from life anymore when I have a beautiful man that enjoys the pleasure of my company.

I’d never allowed myself to be vulnerable long enough to capture the attention of a man, and when I finally do, I meet the most amazing man in the world.

You got all of me, Cache. I want to be wherever you are.

So, my answer is yes today, tomorrow, and forever. ”

A wide grin broke out across his handsome face, showcasing his white and jeweled teeth. Cache was my man, my man, my man. Sweetly, he held my face and pulled my lips to his. I loved when his thumb caressed my cheek.

It was the sexiest nonsexual act ever. Thanks to Cache, I’d spend the rest of my life being kissed and loved like I was a real-life fairy or princess by a man deemed by society a menace. Hell yeah, I would stick beside him until I no longer could.

We separated and stared lovingly at each other.

“You know this Virgo man loves you with every bone in his body.”

“And this Cancer woman loves you like forever is its own spectrum of measurement.”

Cache smirked. He laced our fingers and kissed the top of my hand. “Welcome to the first day of our lives officially together.”

“Sounds great to me.”

We shared one more kiss before we ate our breakfast together. Life was more beautiful than it had been before. Both of us had lost our mothers in tragic circumstances, and God saw fit to bring us together. I’m forever grateful to be bound to a Virgo menace.
