CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Omega Chamber, Idol Manor
“ I ’m going to kill the twins.” Naked, I writhe in fevered heat.
“Not before I do,” Torin mutters, darkly.
He pulls off his suit jacket and adds it to the nest, which has already been built out of my dress.
I clutch at the jacket’s sleeve, taking a satisfyingly deep breath of its vanilla tea scent.
I’m curled on top of the dress like the long train is a foaming wave, and I’m a mermaid in heat.
“Promise?” Cricket builds up the sides of the nest with his shirt.
Cricket is as naked as I am. He’s already added his clothes to the nest.
This heat is different to any that I have experienced before. It’s hit faster and harder.
I can sense how unnatural it is, tugging my body down into an early, chemically induced heat.
The total assholes.
Yet even if the twins had no fucking right to do this by spiking my coffee (hitting me in my caffeine addiction was low), their sly reasoning may have saved our pack.
If we bond before Philomena arrives, then she won’t be as much of a threat.
All three of us always intended to bond.
I worry on my lip with my teeth. “Is this still romantic for you? I wish that this moment was special—”
“It is special,” Torin insists. “Every moment that I spend with you both is. It doesn’t matter how we bond, only that we do. Also, I got to be a true Prince Charming, carrying my princess damsel in my arms up to the Omega Chamber to save her.”
“Don’t get used to that.”
“Don’t worry.” Torin’s gaze becomes devilish. “I prefer to be the Beast, anyway.”
I chuckle.
Then I pant, as a wave of heat hits me.
It’s becoming more difficult to think clearly.
My core throbs, wet with slick.
My skin is oversensitive and desperate for touch.
Like he can sense it, Cricket shuffles closer across the nest. He draws his hand across my collarbone and then down between my breasts in sensual circles.
I sigh, pushing up into his touch. “More.”
Cricket leans down to capture my lips, before he massages my shoulders.
My skin is tingling and overheated, despite how cool the Omega Chamber is. Blasts of air from the inbuilt air conditioning kiss across my flushed cheeks.
The entire floor of the room is a springy mattress. The walls themselves are covered in a soft woolly wallpaper. Crimson velvet drapes cover the window, cocooning the room like a womb.
It’s simple, serene, and calming.
I never thought that I would experience a heat in a luxury Omega Chamber like this one, where my needs are catered to.
Una’s Omega is lucky.
In here, it feels like I am the center of my Alpha’s world.
For the first time, I can understand that my heat is something precious to be treasured, rather than an inconvenience.
Before, I barely built nests for my heats. What was the point? The Alphas who helped me through them didn’t care what my name was.
They needed an Omega for their rut, as much as I needed their knot for my heat.
I never saw the Alphas again afterward. In fact, it was a rule with me because then I managed to survive as an independent, unbonded Omega until I reached thirty.
I’m proud of that.
But now that I’ve met my scent match and my soul mate? The Beta who I love? Men who celebrate my strength and self-sufficiency?
I’ve finally discovered something that I never thought was possible.
I can trust that I can be independent and bonded.
Torin leans against the wall, removing his cuff links.
He’s trying to hide how much his hands are shaking. Yet his cheeks are tinted with pink and his pupils are dilated.
He also can’t hide how hard he is in his pants.
He’s holding himself back with self-discipline but he’s falling into rut.
Torin adjusts a control on the wall. “What color do you want?”
Suddenly, the entire chamber is flooded with a deep ruby light. It makes me feel like I’m in a sexy nightclub.
Cricket brushes his fingers down my sides, and I moan. “How clever. How does it work?”
“You can take it apart later and geek out as much as you like. But for now, let’s concentrate on setting the mood.” Torin pulls a face. “Actually, any color but this programmed one. I don’t want to rut to the same vibe as my sister. Talk about a knot deflater.”
My lips quirk. “Show me.” Torin cycles through the colors. “Stop.”
I burst out purring, as a blue color that’s the same shade as Torin’s eyes washes over the entire chamber. It also reminds me of my beautiful Ice Dragon.
Cricket rumbles an answering deep purr, kissing across my breasts. The vibrations make me squirm in pleasure.
Slick gushes between my thighs.
“It’s as beautiful as your eyes, Alpha.” I sigh.
“I like how you call me Alpha during your heats.” Torin’s eyes darken. “But then, I get to call you my good Omega .”
He stalks toward the nest.
The ice blue light catches on Torin’s cheekbones and make his eyes appear to glow.
Torin drops to his knees onto the soft mattress next to me.
With his crow-black hair tumbling over his face, as he leans closer, I could have invited the devil into my bed.
And I can’t wait to give in to his dark temptations.
“It feels like an Ice Dragon’s lair.” Torin grazes his teeth down my neck. My breath hitches. “We’re his treasure, which he’s collected. He’s built his glittering nest for us, and we’re here, waiting for our Dragon King to fly home and ravish us.”
“Does that make you the damsel?” I tease.
Torin nips me in revenge. “What if I’m the knight? The dragon was simply too beautiful to slay.”
“Does that mean you’re now one of his brides, along with us?” Cricket laughs.
“Oh, the Omega is feeling brave.” Torin’s eyes dance with amusement, as he grabs Cricket by the hair and hauls him up into a kiss.
Then he pushes Cricket onto his back next to me.
Cricket looks up at Torin with adoration.
Torin slides his half-hooded gaze between us with satisfaction. “Well, what are you waiting for? Kiss each other.”
Cricket pinks but he twists to me eagerly. I push myself onto my side.
Our gazes meet intently.
Cricket is as addicted to my kisses now, as I am to his.
Cricket slips his hand to the back of my head, and I stroke down his athletic back.
Then we draw each other into a tender kiss.
I moan, as his tongue tangles with mine. I can taste his sweetness and love.
I slide my thigh between Cricket’s, wishing that I could always be this close to this Omega who owns not simply a part of my heart but is woven now into all of it.
“How did I get lucky enough to have two such powerful Omegas to bond?” Torin murmurs with a rare earnestness.
I don’t know if he realizes that he’s said it out loud.
It’s like seeing behind his mask.
My heart skips a beat.
To my shock, Cricket pulls away from me. He drops his gaze, edging away and hugging his arms around himself.
My brow furrows. “Crick…?”
“Una said that her Beta, Ryan, will look after Jin through our heat.” Torin is fiddling with another piece of technology on the floor and hasn’t noticed Cricket’s reaction.
“Una’s pack are reliable, and her Beta works hard.
Too hard. I trust him more than anyone else in this hall.
But it’s still painful that Jin isn’t here with us.
Still, he needs to rest, and his needs have never been put first before.
They always will be by me. But this should help us… ”
The inbuilt music system in the walls of the chamber springs on. Jin’s caramel voice fills the small space, catching me by surprise with how intimate it is.
Jin is here with us through his music. He’s serenading me through my heat.
I crawl my fingers down my body, skirting them over my hips, before they finally dip between my thighs.
I sigh, circling my clit. “I need you. Touch me .”
I need my Alpha’s knot.
Torin rests his hand on my thigh, pinning me to the mattress. “Where’s my Omega helper? Why aren’t you still kissing?”
Cricket licks over his lips.
He glances between us from underneath his long eyelashes.
“Aren’t I here to take the Beta’s role? Someone needs to make sure that you’re both given food and drink.
I may be small but I’m strong. You don’t need to worry.
I can wash you and care for you as well as any Beta.
I’m not weak. I did all the chores every day in my old pack.
It takes muscles to carry buckets around and—”
“Since when did I ask you to act like a Beta?” Torin coldly interrupts Cricket’s rambling.
“And by the way, naked like that, there’s no question of your strength.
Those abs and muscles are hard to miss. But you’re my little darling.
I appreciate the offer to care for us, since my bully brother’s trick didn’t work on you.
What made you think, however, that I wasn’t going to bond with you today? ”
My stomach twists.
Is Cricket going to tell Torin about being a Non-heat? The real reason that he has such fucked up ideas?
“I dreamed that you would. I let myself think that I could have this. But I can’t be that selfish. I love you all too much…” Cricket raises his hand to his mouth to stifle his sob, trying to hide his face.
Shocked, Torin’s hard expression softens.
He scrambles across the nest to wrap his arms around Cricket and pull him against his chest.
Torin looks over Cricket’s head at me, begging me with his eyes to explain this.
My mind is becoming foggy, as I slip deeper into heat.
I still struggle to say, “He’s scared. Scared to be rejected. Abandoned.”
And thrown out of this nest.
Torin lightly shakes Cricket. “I’d never do that.”
Cricket turns his tear stained face up toward Torin. “I know that now. But I may abandon all of you, and that’s the truth I’ve been running from. It scares me more than anything. I’m terrified that if we bond, then you risk suffering from Shattered Bond Syndrome.”
Torin’s brow furrows in confusion. “But that would only happen if you…” He becomes ashen. “…died.”
