One second the idiot was grinning stupidly, and the next he was knocked out cold on the floor.
Amon’s lethal stare poured ice down my spine as he stood above him, panting.
When the guy stirred awake after a few beats, Amon said, “Touch my girlfriend again and I’ll slice you to pieces.” His eyes flicked over the crowd that’d watched the whole encounter like it was an everyday occurrence. Dante was prowling his way through, a scary gleam in his eyes. For a moment, I stood frozen, believing that maybe—or very likely—Dante Leone was crazy.
“Are we having fun?” Dante asked, smiling cruelly while his eyes darted over me, then to the guy sprawled over the deck.
“You’ll be having fun. He’s all yours.” Amon gave his brother a pointed look, and I feared that I understood the unspoken words all too well. Then why didn’t I say anything?
I took Amon’s hand into mine and he whirled around. His scent was powerful, all-consuming. I stared at him, losing myself and loving it.
His eyes connected with mine. “Did he hurt you?”
I shook my head. “No, he just annoyed me, that’s all.”
He turned his attention to the stumbling drunk who was scrambling to his feet and failing miserably. Dante had him by his shirt, dragging him away like a sack of potatoes.
The look on Amon’s face promised a brutal beating, and he leaned forward as if he intended to follow him. I didn’t want tonight to turn into a fight.
“Let your brother handle him,” I heard myself say, and it was at that moment I realized that maybe I had some darkness in me after all.
Tugging Amon away, my eyes darted around to find everyone watching us and Dante who casually sauntered off, dragging the drunken fool behind him. Somehow I knew the guy would regret ever approaching me.
“Let’s go,” I whispered.
When Amon didn’t react, I tightened my grip on his forearm, yanking him away from the spot that seemed to be attracting more and more eyes our way.
“Amon.” His eyes met mine and I narrowed them. “Don’t even think about going after your brother.”
Because I knew he wouldn’t be back for hours.

AMON
The phone call from my cousin couldn’t have come at a worse time. The idiot thought he could demand to use one of my product-moving routes for his flesh trading. A fucking moron. I was ending human trafficking and the fucker was promoting it.
I might have been extra agitated returning from that phone call, but the last thing I expected when I returned was to see some drunk fucker harassing Reina.
So, I overreacted. Dante would teach him a few lessons on human decency, get some more of his psycho out, and the idiot would learn some manners when it came to women.
Win-win.
Reina locked the door of the suite she slept in last night after practically dragging me by my arm through the deck. I’d let her do whatever she wanted as long as she kept smiling.
Although, she wasn’t smiling right now.
I expected her to throw herself at me. She didn’t. Instead she sat down on the edge of the bed, letting silence fill the air. I wished I could read all her thoughts, but I learned that Reina was only an open book when she wished to be.
Her blue eyes watched me and a strange sense of unease filled me at the thought of saddening her. When her expression flickered with anxiety, I started to worry she was scared of me. “I would never hurt you or hit you.”
She shot to her feet and closed the distance between us. “I know. I’ve forgotten about that asshole already.”
Relief washed over me. “Tell me what’s worrying you, then.”
She bit her bottom lip, her cheeks flushing deep red. “Are we finally going to—?”
I grabbed her wrist and pulled her against me. “I have never met a woman so adamant about losing her virginity.”
