Stone

I turned my head and yelled at her again, “Move, Regina!”

“I can’t leave him,” she wept, clinging onto his shirt. “I won’t!”

I grabbed her by the shoulders, quickly pulling her to her feet.

“Here, call 911,” I told her, shoving my cellphone into her hand, wrapping her fingers around it, and then quickly dropping to my knees. I locked my fingers together and flattened my palm against my brother’s chest. I refused to let my brother die.

“One. Two. Three. Four,” I counted out loud, praying for a miracle.
