“Come on, Cal. You know you’re dying to say you told me so. You washed your hands of me being an idiot by staying in Philly.”
“Don’t need to voice it when you know it.”
A laugh burst from my lips, which caused me to wince.
CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: MILA
Although the Carusos had provided everything we needed for Kellan’s care, I was never so thankful when we loaded him up to go home.
Well, his home. It certainly wasn’t mine. But it probably would be for the rest of my life.
And I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about that.
With worrying about Kellan’s recovery, I’d managed to push down the choking trauma of the banishment from my family. But it bubbled to the surface from time to time. Like when it was quiet at night, or when I watched Kellan interacting with his brothers.
In those moments, an ache burned its way through my chest.
I tried reasoning that hopefully I’d have a sense of found family with Kellan’s siblings and their families, but it didn’t dull the pain.
But today was a happy day, so I focused on getting Kellan home. We rode to the airport in a line of bulletproof SUVs from both the Carusos and the Nerettis.
When we arrived at the airport, I felt like I’d been holding my breath since we left the Caruso mansion. Kellan had held tight to my hand, squeezing it from time to time. Although I didn’t feel like it on the inside, I gave him a dazzling smile.
Once we pulled up to the waiting jet, Kellan slowly climbed the jet stairs on his own to my astonishment. Instead of sitting in one of the chairs, he went to the bedroom where he could lie on his stomach to ease the pain on his back.
I followed him to bed and as I snuggled up against him, I asked, “How long before we get to Boston?”
He turned his head to face me. “An hour and a half.”
“That’s not too bad.”
Wagging his brows, he said, “It’s plenty of time to fool around.”
I rolled my eyes. “Just because you made it up the stairs by yourself, don’t get cocky.”
“My cock works just fine as well as my fingers and tongue,” he challenged.
“Kellan,” I huffed.
He propped his arm on his elbow and gave me a wicked grin. “Since I almost died, I think you owe me a little sexual healing.”
“Stop harassing me and get some rest.”
“What if I offered you some sexual healing instead?”
“Kellan,” I growled.
“Seriously, you could lie on your back right here. I can still stay on my stomach while I eat your pussy.”
“Now there’s a thought,” I teased.
“Come on. Let me taste you.”
Looking into his eyes I asked, “What about your brothers? Will they hear me?”
“You’ll have to be quiet.”
I snorted. “Like I can ever do that with you.”
