“No, I mean youreallyenjoyed it,” I said, grabbing his chin and forcing him to look around. “Look at what you did.”
All around us on the bed and curling up the bedframe were green vines that obviously hadn’t been there before. Karrick let out a soft gasp and we both watched as several tiny white flowers opened, their blooms ejecting motes of soft blue light that dance around the room like fireflies.
“Your magic is strong,” I said, watching the beautiful display. “I didn’t know you had earth magic.”
“I have all four elements,” he replied, his voice still filled with disbelief. “At least that’s what Professor Blackwood says.”
“Wow… that’s really rare.” I snuggled down beside him, burying my face against his chest.
“I didn’t even know I had magic,” he muttered. Then he let out a huff. “Didn’t know I was into guys either.”
“I guess you’re just full of surprises this year, huh?” I thought of all those memories I’d lost and regained. “We both are, I suppose.”
We lay in comfortable silence for a while, our bodies cooling, our breathing synchronizing. His fur was softer than I’d imagined, like velvet against my skin. I traced the contours of his chest, marveling at how right it felt to be here with him.
“So...” he finally broke the silence, a hint of uncertainty in his voice. “What happens now?”
Chapter 17
Karrick
Waking up with Phoenix tucked neatly into my arms definitely wasn’t on my bingo card for sophomore year of college. That being said, I wasn’t sure I’d ever been happier. And it was difficult to wrap my head around. Had someone asked me even two weeks ago if I ever saw myself getting together with another guy, I would’ve punched them for even suggesting it. I wasn’t exactly proud of that. But now I couldn’t even fathom being with anyone else other than Phoenix.
And that scared the shit out of me.
This wasn’t just… acrush. This had bloomed wildly into something I didn’t understand and something that I was terrified to give words to. The feelings I had for him were so intense, soprimalthat I could think of little else when I was around him. He went from a distant memory to my everything in the span of a couple of days. This connection I felt with him wasn’t really explainable though, even with the childhood memories. I wasn’t sure I understood any of it just yet.
And the only person I could think to talk to about it was my mom. God… I was gonna have so much explaining to do. Then again, myparents were from the Pacific Northwest. They were about as crunchy as people could be. Being with a man wouldn’t bother them. Even being with a witch wouldn’t bother them. But that wasn’t who I’d been for… you know, my entire life. I’m sure it would at least surprise them.
But first, I had to wake up the beautiful witch in my arms without scaring him. Phoenix was still fast asleep, his dark hair mussed and falling across his forehead. In the morning light streaming through my dorm window, his skin looked almost porcelain, a stark contrast against my dark fur. His breathing was deep and even, and every few minutes he’d make these soft little sounds that went straight to my cock.
I’d never woken up next to anyone before. Sure, I’d hooked up with girls at parties, but I always made sure to leave before morning. This was different though. I wanted to memorize every detail of this moment, the way Phoenix’s fingers curled against my chest, how his legs tangled with mine, the trust evident in his relaxed features.
When he finally stirred, those incredible orange eyes fluttered open and focused on me. For a split second, confusion flickered across his face before recognition set in, followed by the most beautiful smile I’d ever seen.
“Morning,” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. The sound sent heat straight through me.
“Morning,” I replied, unable to keep the grin off my face. “Sleep okay?”
“Better than I have in years.” He stretched languidly against me, and I had to bite back a groan when his hip brushed against my already half-hard cock. “Your bed is way more comfortable than mine.”
“That’s because you’re in it,” I said without thinking, then immediately felt my cheeks burn under my fur. Christ, when had I become such a sap?
But Phoenix just laughed, that melodic sound I was quickly becoming addicted to. “Smooth, Karrick. Very smooth.”
He pushed himself up on one elbow, and I watched his gaze travel over my chest, taking in the vines that were still curled around the bedframe. The flowers had closed during the night, but they were starting to bloom again in response to our proximity.
“Your magic is still active,” he observed, reaching out to touch one of the delicate white petals. As soon as his fingers made contact, tiny sparks of golden light danced along the vine. “I think it’s reacting to mine.”
“I don’t know anything about it,” I shrugged. “But it is pretty.”
“Very pretty,” Phoenix agreed, his fingers still trailing over the magical blooms. When he looked back at me, there was something almost shy in his expression. “So... last night was...”
“Amazing,” I finished for him, because there wasn’t any other word that came close. “Best night of my life, honestly.”
His smile widened, and I felt that strange flutter in my chest again. The one that made me want to pull him closer and never let go. I’d never felt so peaceful and complete after a blowjob before.
“Mine too,” he said softly. Then his expression grew more serious. “But Karrick... what happens when we leave this room? I mean, are you ready for people to know? About us?” He paused. “Am I ready for that?”
