“Um, Rhett?” she said, stiffening.
“Yeah?”
“I think some of your ooze got on my neck.”
Pulling back, he squinted. “Oh yeah, it did.”
“Can you get it off, please?” she said.
Laughing, he wiped the goop of her neck. “How about we pick this up later?”
“After you wash your face.”
“Deal.”
Chapter Twenty-One
CALLIE’S HEART BEGAN thudding when she spotted Everett heading back from the bathroom. With all of that disgusting makeup gone, she definitely wouldn’t mind if he started nibbling on her neck again—and maybe something more.
She hadn’t recognized him at first, not with the layer of inch-thick makeup and baggy, ripped clothes. She’d been trying to keep her distance from all the masked people and made-up monsters dancing around the room, so when he’d first come around the side of the DJ booth, she’d nearly dropped him with a self-defense move.
But then the light had caught his eyes. Even with green and red gunk on his face, she’d recognize that sweet smile anywhere.
It was no mystery to her why he was here. He’d said he would love to come over after the ball for a sleepover, and she’d seen the way he’d checked out her tight pants. Gracie and Gemma had both given her costume their wholehearted approval, and Callie had known it was right the second she’d put it on. It was comfortable and sexy without being obvious.
And with the way Everett’s hands kept finding her hips and spreading across the soft pleather of her pants, she had a feeling he thought so too.
He pressed himself against her back and moved with her to the music, rolling her with his hands so her ass grazed the front of his jeans with every dip and sway. Keeping one hand on her laptop, she reached up to curl her other behind his neck, turning her head so she was looking up at him over her shoulder. Everett dipped his head and kissed her, releasing butterflies from her stomach into her chest. His tongue played with hers, and her nipples hardened into tiny nubs.
“Ahem.”
The low cough made her break the kiss, but she didn’t pull away from his hands when she faced Mrs. Andrews’s disapproving sneer.
“You should really be doing your job instead of making a spectacle.” She stuck a song request into the jar on the edge of the booth and flounced away. Everett took Callie’s lobe between his teeth, biting down gently. “I do believe we’ve been properly chastised.”
“I know. I can’t wait to tell Caroline and Gracie that I’ve been officially initiated into the club.”
“What club?” He pressed his mouth to her neck and sucked, sending a tickling quiver down her spine.
“The ‘Mrs. Andrews Thinks We’re Hussies club.”
His surprised laugh sent a puff of warm air along her skin. “And why did you want to be a part of this club?”
Callie spun around in his arms and couldn’t fight her sassy smile. “Are you kidding? Only the cool kids get scolded by Mrs. Andrews.”
Everett shook his head before he kissed her again, and she held onto his biceps, loving the way they tightened under her palms.
“How much longer until we can go home?”
A thrill raced through her body as his raspy question. “About three hours.”
He groaned loudly, clearly frustrated, before pulling back and giving her a wicked grin. “I guess that means we’ve got three hours of foreplay.”
Lord, have mercy.
THREE HOURS AND eight seconds later, Callie shoved her fake stake into the back of her pants and walked toward Everett, who was leaning against his truck, arms folded. He hadn’t been able to keep his hands and eyes off her legs and ass, which was fine with her, except that when he’d said they were going to have three hours of foreplay, he hadn’t been kidding.
In fact, he’d kissed and touched and rubbed her so much, every nerve ending in her body was on fire, primed and ready to jump his bones.
