Let’s Try This Again

Three Months Later

My morning had been crazy from the moment I set my purse down.

The number of calls from potential clients waiting for me was wild.

We were still receiving requests from the fashion show, and while I appreciated the business, it was a lot for me to handle.

I just wrapped up a call with Bryce “Trigga” James, a Grammy award-winning rapper, who needed a stylist. I hadn’t styled anyone since the start of my career.

When I mentioned this to Trigga, he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Trigga wanted me to design clothes for him and style him, even giving me a number I couldn’t refuse to work with him.

The contract with Trigga included some traveling.

Between this opportunity and the others knocking down my door, I would be busy, so my mentorship with Louisa would be even more important.

During the call with Trigga and his team, I decided I would train Louisa for the head designer role.

That would allow me to have someone internally, and I wouldn’t need to look outside.

I had a strong feeling that this deal with Trigga would lead to similar agreements for me.

Louisa knocked on my door for our daily meeting. Since our conversation after the fashion show, Louisa had loosened up around me. The nervous energy she previously exuded was nonexistent.

“Hey, is now a good time for us to meet?” she asked sweetly.

“It’s perfect, actually. Please come in and shut the door. I have some news to share,” I informed her.

Once Louisa was seated, I reviewed the details of my new role with Trigga.

“Oh my God! You are working exclusively with Trigga. He’s my favorite rapper in the world. You’re so lucky.” She gushed with excitement.

“Actually, we’re lucky. An opportunity like this can lead to big things for all of us. If I need to travel with Trigga, will you be able to hold down the design team?” I asked her.

Louisa looked at me, confused. “Me? You want me to fill in for you when you aren’t around? Do you really think I could do that?”

“You would be an in-person point of contact for the team. We would communicate daily or several times a day if needed during our busy times. I would still have the final say on everything, but we will continue to work together. My goal is for you to feel comfortable being a resource to the team in my absence,” I explained.

“I can do that. I would love to be a resource to the team. Thank you for considering me,” Louisa said.

With that out of the way, we continued with our daily tasks.

We were in full design mode on the fall line.

In addition to that, we needed to work on some exclusive designs.

Some of the department stores we would distribute in needed exclusive items. Then Trigga would need all new original pieces.

Louisa and I had our usual two-hour meeting.

At the end of our meeting, Louisa left as Milani made her way in.

“Hey, this came for you today. It’s certified mail, so it must be important,” she stated as she passed me the envelope and left the office.

I read the front, and the return address belonged to an attorney’s office. It was listed as Thomas & Thomas. Although hesitant to open it, I decided to see what the letter was about.

Dear Mrs. Faith Baxter,

Your presence is requested at the reading of the will of Mrs. Tabitha Baxter on July 11 th at 11 a.m. The address is provided below. If you have any questions in the interim, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Thomas & Thomas

My eyes watered at the realization that Mason’s grandmother, Tabby, had passed away.

I loved Granny Tab as if she were my own grandmother.

We spent so much time together while I was married to Mason.

She was one of the reasons we purchased the house on Long Island.

Granny Tab had cancer, but she was a fighter.

She always told me that no punk ass cancer was going to beat her.

Granny Tab was a feisty old lady with a heart of pure gold.

I only saw my grandmother during the holidays while she was alive.

My grandparents lived in the South, and we didn’t visit them often.

However, Granny Tab filled that void for me.

I felt bad about not having checked on her before.

Now that she had passed away, I felt even worse.

My cell phone rang, interrupting my moment of sadness. It was Jacob, so I answered.

“Hey, love. How’s your day going?” he asked.

“It was great until I got some sad news,” I answered.

“I’m sorry to hear that. Why don’t we meet up after work? You can tell me all about the good and bad,” he offered.

“Aww, I would love that. There’s a place over here that I go to all the time. It’s called Pia’s. Meet me there around five o'clock,” I stated.

“I can’t wait to see you then, beautiful, and cheer up in the meantime,” he coaxed.

“I’ll try. See you in a bit,” I responded as we disconnected the call.

I went back to work and tried not to beat myself up over the time missed with Granny Tab.

There were so many positive things happening in my life, so I wanted to focus on that.

After a couple of hours filled with meetings and calls, I packed up my things.

I was beyond ready to meet Jacob. I needed a nice stiff drink.

When I walked into Pia’s, the first face I saw was Jacob’s. He stood up and then walked over to me, pulling me in for a hug and squeezing me tightly around my waist as he sniffed my neck.

“Damn, I missed you. You smell good as hell, love,” he whispered in my ear.

“I missed you too,” I uttered back. Jacob made me blush so hard my cheeks ached.

“Okay, boo. I see you and your actor bae. Let me get you to your favorite table,” Ginny teased as she led us to the booth in the back.

Once we were seated and alone, Jacob asked, “What’s got you happy and sad all at the same time?”

I went on to tell him about Granny Tab and my meeting with Trigga.

“I’m sorry to hear you lost someone so close to you. Do you need me to come with you to the reading of the will… for moral support, of course?” Jacob offered.

“Imani is going to come with me. I appreciate you offering,” I said.

“I’m glad Trigga finally reached out to you,” he noted, changing the subject.

“Wait. You know Trigga? You referred him to me?” I asked.

Jacob took a sip of water that the server had brought over and nodded.

“I asked him how he had found out about me. All he said was I came highly recommended, and he wouldn’t take no for an answer.

I even told the man I hadn’t designed men’s clothes in years, but he was very persistent.

He only wanted to work with me. I can’t believe you would do this for me.

Do you know what an impact this will have on my brand? ” I asked with excitement.

“This is only the beginning for your brand. A client like Trigga will bring you even bigger clients. There is no limit to the people you can work with. Use this as your opportunity to show the world what I already know. My lady is the hottest fashion designer out,” he boasted.

“Your lady, huh? Was your lady informed of this new development?”

“Love, would you be my boo thing? My lady for forever?” he asked.

Before I could answer him, the server was back to take our orders. Jacob asked her what was good on the menu, and I said, “Everything,” so we ordered a little bit of everything.

Once we were alone again, I picked up where our conversation had left off.

“You’re kind of cute or whatever. I guess I could be your lady,” I teased.

“Kind of cute. Girl, I’m a grown man. Kids are cute,” he joked.

Twenty minutes later, the drinks were flowing, and we were in full conversation. This time alone with Jacob was just what I needed after the news I received.

“Hold up, love. It’s Jada calling me from her iPad,” he stated as he answered her call. “Is everything okay, baby girl? Daddy’s inside a restaurant.”

“I just... I just want to know when you’re coming home. Who are you with, Daddy?” she asked in her baby voice.

Jacob turned the camera around to face me.

“Hi, Jada,” I stated.

“Ms. Faith, we didn’t finish our movie last night. Are you coming home with Daddy tonight?” she asked.

“Baby girl, you can’t take up all of Ms. Faith’s time. Grandma can watch the movie with you tonight. I love you, okay, baby?” Jacob said.

“Fine! I’ll go get Grandma. Bye, Ms. Faith!” She huffed as she ended the call.

Jacob just shook his head. “I have no idea why I bought her that thing. She calls me all day.”

“She is so cute. When she told us to hush while the movie was playing, I knew who the boss of your house was,” I joked.

“Whatever. Are you ready to get out of here?” he asked.

“Only if you can come home with me,” I replied in a low tone.

“Check, please,” he told the server.

I couldn’t help but laugh. Jacob was a mess, which was exactly where Jada got her personality from. He didn’t even wait for the server to bring the check. Jacob pulled a couple of hundred-dollar bills out of his wallet. We then went outside to the car he had waiting for us.

The ride back to Brooklyn seemed quicker tonight.

Or perhaps it could have been the anticipation of my wanting to get Jacob in my bed that made it feel that way.

We made it to my place, where I grabbed some wine out of the fridge.

I then grabbed two glasses from the wine rack before heading out to the patio, and Jacob followed.

He turned on the firepit while I poured the wine.

I took a seat next to him on the couch and passed him a glass.

“To our new beginning,” he declared as we shared a toast. “Are you sure you’re ready for this? We’ll only do what you want to do. If you’re uncomfortable, we can just sit here and talk,” he offered.

My divorce had been finalized for a couple of months now. Jacob had been very patient with me, but I decided back at the restaurant that I was ready to go to the next level. Jacob had been consistent with me. He still followed my lead on how fast or slow our relationship flourished.

“Jakey, my pussy has been leaking at the sight of you since the fashion show. I’m tired of talking,” I said as my hand slid up and down over his dick.

As his dick grew under my touch, I smiled.

Jacob’s tongue circled the outline of my lips before he slowly slid his tongue into my mouth.

I laid back on the couch without breaking our kiss.

Jacob slid his hands up my dress and pulled my underwear down.

I shivered as the breeze from the night met the warmth of my honeypot.

Jacob broke our kiss but only to move onto my second set of lips. My breathing became labored as he helped me reach my first orgasm. I was out of breath, but he never took his lips off me. His movements were meticulous as he brought my body to another orgasm.

“Jakey, please put it in. I just want to feel you filling me up,” I cooed.

After a few more slurps, he got up to take off his pants and boxers. His penis was long and had girth just the way I liked it. He slowly got on top of me and eased himself into my honeypot. My body shook as the feeling of ecstasy came over me. I had never felt like this before during sex.

“You’re nice and tight for me, love. Just the way I like it,” Jacob whispered. His voice was a little deeper than his usual tone. The deepened tone turned me on even more and brought me to my third orgasm.

“I can’t cum until you cum again for me, love,” he stated.

Jacob’s hands fondled my breasts as he kissed me deeply.

I wasn’t ready for this to end, so I kept fighting the urge to release my orgasm.

The more intense our kiss became, the less control I had over my body.

I gave him what he asked for and orgasmed all over his dick again.

After a few more pumps, Jacob released his seeds inside of me before lying on top of me.
