Epilogue
Zander
One month later…
Palms cradling my tiny pregnant belly, I rise on my tiptoes to get a better look at Lucan’s ass. He’s squatting on top of a roof, a sexy tool belt around his hips, and popping off orders to a very clueless Seamus.
We’ve kind of adopted the kid.
After accepting I’m going to be a father, Lucan and I rounded up most of his clan and left for the Kato Clan to make a plan of action regarding the Terra wolves.
Since I’m with child , Lucan wants to make sure that our little abandoned town is up and running before we start a war.
I think it’s just his sneaky way of keeping me out of it for longer.
Mark my words, though, as soon as this kid is out of my body, I’m going to be shoulder to shoulder with him, storming those metaphorical gates and saving the day.
I tried to convince Gabe and Griffin to come with us, seeing as their baby is due a few weeks before ours.
I thought it’d be neat for them to grow up together.
Both were on the fence about it, Griffin more so than Gabe, but eventually they decided it was better to wait.
Now that we are in the nitty-gritty of rebuilding, I can’t say I blame them.
This place is a dump.
I lean more to the right, getting a nice view of those perky cheeks, and bite my lip.
Pregnancy hormones are nuts. I’m horny all the damn time, and it makes zero sense.
It’s not like my mate can knock me up twice, although he does try.
To my surprise, I don’t have tits like I thought.
Only the tissue around my nipples seems to be growing, and it’s minimal.
I’m a bit upset they aren’t bigger, in all honesty.
“Sweet thing,” Lucan growls, and I tear my gaze away from his butt and meet his glare. “Those shingles aren’t intact. If one falls on you—”
“I’m just looking ,” I argue, but make it a point to take several steps back so I’m well clear of the shoddy roof.
Seamus, who has been intensely focused on his task, lifts his head and waves at me. I wave back, happy he agreed to join us on this grand endeavor because the kid is so strong. Seriously, he does nearly all the heavy lifting, and he’s happy about it.
“How’d the meeting go?” My overly protective mate asks, wiping his hands on his jeans and standing. Sweat darkens his light gray t-shirt, leaving a delicious V over his chest.
Later. Later I’ll lick it off.
Still holding my belly, I shrug. “Went okay. We still need to figure out group therapy sessions and who is going to teach all these kids.”
“What about Patrick?” He grabs a water jug, pops the cap, and chugs. Gods, why is he so attractive? So damn hot. My hole clenches and my cock tingles.
“His roommate is a dick,” I supply dryly, not wanting to talk about the rude beta we allowed to come with us. “Can you just come down? I want a kiss,” I pout with a huff.
Lucan’s face lights up, and he jumps off the roof. Landing with a thud, he stalks toward me, that grin still firmly in place, and when he reaches me, he kneels. “You know, I’m going to start taking it personally if you keep saying hi to a fetus before me.”
“Do you hear your father?” he whispers to my belly. “Always arguing.” His lips press into the swell before he pets and strokes me. Looking up, he winks, and I melt on the inside.
There’s this innate sense of pride I feel constantly these days.
Not only from all my ideas finally coming to life, but also how much joy I bring Lucan.
It’s infectious. The best part is that I don’t even need to try.
I just have to be me , and it’s enough. I doubt I’ll ever get tired of this feeling of belonging.
Of being special and cherished. He’s obsessed with who I am , and not what I can do.
Slowly rising again, he palms my hips, dips his head, and kisses me.
He smells of sweat and grime, of alpha and just…
male. Gods, I’m crazy for it. I deepen the kiss without hesitating, shoving my tongue between his lips and coaxing a deep moan from him.
Too soon, he pulls away and takes the opportunity to scent me.
I never don’t smell like Lucan, but he still licks and bites my throat, rubs his cheek over mine, and holds me close.
Dizzy and horny, I bite his shoulder. “Can’t you take a break?”
“I’m nearly done for the day,” he mumbles, twirling a lock of my hair around his finger. “But seriously, ask Patrick. That’s what he’s been studying for—teaching.”
“Matthew is a dick ,” I insist. “Why did we let him come again?”
Sighing, Lucan wipes the thin layer of sweat from his brow and says, “He’s been brainwashed, precious. A lot of our betas are. Some of them just aren’t ready to open their eyes. I’ll talk with him.”
“Alright,” I cave. “Fine.”
“What else?”
“We finally got the approval for the livestock transfer, so it should be like…a few days?” I ask, recalling everything we talked about during our omega meeting.
That’s right, it’s not up to the alphas to get shit done.
It’s people like me who are making plans and coming up with ideas.
I…it’s been really fulfilling to see. “Yeah. I think in three days we will have cows!”
I’m pretty excited about that.
Not the butchering and eating them part, but maybe I could keep one or…seven. “Where would we put a cow, baby?” Lucan asks, already sensing what I’m thinking. Our connection is uncanny sometimes.
“You can build me a pen for it.” I beam and flutter my lashes. “And then our kiddo can have a pet cow.”
“I have a feeling it won’t be just the one…” He raises an eyebrow.
Shrugging, I swiftly change the subject.
I’ll convince him later while I play with his big cock.
“The electricity is still shotty in the south part of the town, so we need to get that looked at and figure out where we are putting the single betas. I feel horrible they’re all cooped up in that crusty town hall. ”
“It’s temporary, sweet. They know this.”
“Yeah, but…it feels wrong. We have a house.”
“Everyone will have a home, don’t you worry. I’ve already spoken with Oberon, and he’s sending his electrician within the week.”
I nod along, worrying my lip. So. Much. Stuff. “At least it’s working. We are doing it.”
“I’m just the muscle. This is all you, Zan.”
“It’s a group effort,” I mumble and slide my palms over his chest. Squeezing the muscles, I shiver when he flexes them under my fingers. “Tease.” I smack his hard stomach when he chuckles.
“Give me thirty minutes, okay?”
“Twenty.”
His eyes narrow, but there’s an unmistakable heat swirling in them. “Seamus,” he calls up to the kid. Seamus startles and drops the hammer. Round, dark eyes find ours. “Think we can lay the rest down in fifteen?”
We’ve figured out, through Morgana, that he’s a hybrid.
According to her, there hasn’t been a wolf like him in easily a hundred years.
She warned us to be gentle with him and not to overwhelm him.
But Seamus seems eager to learn, to be useful.
I like that about him. He doesn’t let his past define his future.
As he examines the roof, he grunts and shoots a thumbs-up.
“Fifteen minutes,” Lucan growls, grabbing a handful of asscheek and squeezing it.
“Oh, so now he’s going to hurry. What if I do it myself, hmm? I’ve gotten really good at finding my gla—”
He silences me with a scorching, filthy kiss, and I squeak in surprise.
Breathless and clinging to him, I shiver when he brings his lips to my ear and whispers, “No one gets to hear about this. No one gets to imagine it. You are mine , Zan. My mate. My heart. And only I get to hear that filthy little mouth.”
Pressing one final kiss to my cheek, he leaps off the ground, grabbing the edge of the roof and pulling himself back up. Blushing from my ears down to my toes, I palm my racing heart, ready for everything that’s to come.
