Chapter Nine

F itz hadn’t planned on taking her virginity tonight.

He groaned as she rubbed her palm over his desperate cock again, his teeth clenching.

“Will you show me it?”

He choked at her request.

“Please?”

Jesus. He was as eager as a schoolboy, his ability to control himself and be honorable long since evaporated.

He placed his hand around her wrist to still her hand. “Are you sure you want this tonight?”

She nodded without hesitation, but then concern gathered in her eyes.

“Will it be terribly painful?”

He moved her hand up and placed it on his chest so he could try not to turn into a rutting beast.

“The truth is, I don’t know. But I promise to be as slow, gentle, and patient as I can be, so that it will hopefully be far more pleasurable than painful.”

“Will there be pleasure? My mother talked to me before…”

“Before you were to marry my brother?” The thought of her in bed with his brother made his stomach turn.

She nodded. “She mentioned that it would be painful, but simply said I should endure it in silence. She didn’t say anything about pleasure.”

“Well, I can’t speak for what it would have been like with my brother, but with me, there will always be pleasure.” He brushed the pad of his thumb over her nipple, and she gasped. As he rolled it gently, she arched her back, pressing her breast more firmly against his hand. Her eager response made his own pulse quicken with need.

When he lowered his head to press his lips to hers, they immediately parted to welcome him into her mouth, and he plunged inside with a groan. God, she was incredible. His tongue swirled around hers.

He really should move her to the bed for this, but she was already writhing with need as he teased her other nipple. He didn’t want to interrupt the momentum, and selfishly, he didn’t want to wait even longer to be inside her. He skimmed his hand over the smooth skin of her stomach and down between her thighs. She was so hot and wet, and a needy whimper escaped her lips.

He circled her entrance with his fingertip before slowly pressing inside. Her eyes widened and he stilled.

“Are you alright? Am I hurting you?”

She shook her head emphatically. “It feels amazing. Don’t stop.”

Her breathless request made a purr thrum inside his chest. She was tight around his finger, but he still slid easily in and out, and eventually her muscles began to relax. He drew her nipple into his mouth, her entire body shuddering as he suckled.

Gently, he added a second finger, continuing to rub the outside with his thumb. It was impossible not to imagine her wrapped around his hard length as it throbbed against his trousers, desperate for relief.

Soon, she was rocking her hips in time with his fingers, her rhythmic groans filling the room. She was as ready as she’d ever be. She whined when he pulled his hand away from her.

“Are you still sure you want this tonight, love?”

“Fitz. I might just perish if you stop now.”

He untied the drawstring of his pajamas, quickly pushing them down and kicking them off. He nudged her legs wider apart with his knee and settled himself between them. Her throat worked with a swallow as his tip prodded at her entrance. She was nervous.

“Relax, Daisy. I won’t go in until you’re good and ready.”

She laughed nervously. “I was ready… I am ready.”

“You will be soon.” He licked along her bottom lip before sucking it greedily into his mouth. As he flicked his fingertips across her nipple, her urgent panting returned. She rocked herself against him, silently begging. It was time. Gently, he guided his tip inside her body. An argument between his brain and his cock ensued, the latter screaming for him to plunge himself to the hilt. Luckily, his brain was victorious, and he stopped. Instead, he leaned back to check in with her.

“Alright?”

She nodded, but there was tension around her eyes and forehead. She wasn’t comfortable. Allowing her body to ease, he stayed where he was and flicked his tongue over her nipple. As her desire grew, her muscles gradually relaxed around him. Only then, did he push in a little further. When her breath hitched, he stilled again.

“Does it hurt?”

Her eyes were closed tight. He didn’t need her nod to tell him the answer.

“Do you want me to pull back out?”

“No!” She reached down and grabbed his hips. “Just go. I’ll be alright.”

He kissed her softly. “That’s not how we’re doing this, Daisy. We have all night.”

“I love you, Fitz.” A tear trickled from the corner of her eye, and he quickly wiped it away.

“I’m sorry, my sweet Daisy. I don’t want to hurt you. I promise it will never be like this again.”

But even as they spoke, her body began to ease. She urged his hips forward with her hands and he pressed in a little more. The resistance was lessening, and soon he was fully seated within her. It was like heaven. Better even.

He reached between them and rubbed his thumb gently over her, coaxing a moan from her lips. Her hips arched, pushing him deeper and driving his need even higher. Slowly, he began to move within her.

“Tell me what you’re feeling, Daisy. I need to know if I’m hurting you.”

She shook her head. “The pain is getting better, and it feels… oh, I need more.”

He pulled out farther and plunged back in.

“Yes, like that.” She wrapped her legs tightly around his hips, urging him harder and faster.

Nothing in his life had ever been as good as this. Her lips were parted as she gasped and whimpered. Light from the fire spilled over her bare skin casting a golden sheen, and creating a shimmer of sweat over her chest. Her perfect breasts shook with each jarring plunge as he collided with her body. It was pure ecstasy.

Her moans began to build and escalate growing desperate and needy.

“That’s it, Daisy. My beautiful, wonderful, incredible woman.”

A strangled cry burst from her as her body clamped around him like a vice. Pleasure ripped through him. He hurtled into an abyss of sensation, his seed spilling deep inside her.

For a long moment, he couldn’t move, aside from trembling and heaving breaths, but then her eyes opened wide, a smile on her lips. His own turned up in response.

“Are you alright?” he asked breathlessly.

“No,” she said, shaking her head. “I’m definitely not.” Her soft laughter wrapped around his heart. “I’m not sure there are any words to adequately describe what I am right now.”

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, then carefully pulled out of her before collapsing beside her.

“We should really relocate to the bed. It’s much softer.”

She nodded, but simply turned on her side and threw her arm over his chest. “Not yet.”

He pulled her close and kissed the top of her head. “Not yet.”

After a few minutes, her body grew soft and pliant against him as she drifted off to sleep. There was a time when he’d dreamt of this, having her sated body in his arms. The real thing was better than anything he could have imagined. He breathed in her sweet scent. She was perfect, and she was his.

How was any of this even real? And how in God’s name was he ever going to be what she needed? He didn't have the faintest idea how to be a good husband. At least he could trust that she would be strong enough to tell him if he was doing it wrong. She’d always been forthright and plainspoken, but now she had a fire within her that hadn’t been there four years ago. She carried herself with more confidence and a sense of independence. He loved that about her. She wasn’t going to sit around and wait for him to take care of her. She’d just take care of herself, even in the bedroom.

The floor was getting hard. It was time to get her into bed. Carefully, he pulled himself away from her and got to his feet. God she was beautiful. Her lips were still swollen from their kisses and even in sleep, they turned up just slightly at the corners. He pulled the blankets back, then scooped her up and placed her gently on the bed. As he settled the covers over her, she stirred and reached for him.

“Don’t worry, Daisy. I’ll be joining you in just a moment.” He pressed a kiss to her hand and tucked it beneath the blanket.

She nodded and her eyes drifted closed again. He walked over and retrieved his pajamas and slipped them on. Spots of blood marred the beige blanket they’d made love on. The sight made his heart hurt. He rolled it up and tossed it into the corner. At least she wouldn’t have to endure that pain again. It was done now.

He climbed into the other side of the bed and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her back against him. Her skin was warm and soft, and he delighted in the feel of it. He didn’t sleep, though. His mind was busy with questions about their future. Would she still want to live in Raven Row if they were married? What was going to happen with her family? And his, for that matter?

Eventually, the sky began to lighten outside the window, and there was another thing he needed to face. Trent. He wasn’t foolish enough to think the man hadn’t noticed Daisy was gone from her room. Reluctantly, he slipped from the bed, immediately grieving the loss of her warmth. He wrapped himself in his robe and tied it shut.

He didn’t know his way around this house, but the layout was similar to the one he’d grown up in, so he found what he was looking for. The door to what was obviously Trent’s room was open, and he wasn’t inside. But almost immediately, there were footsteps behind him. He turned and barely registered the anger in the man’s eyes before a fist slammed into his stomach.

He doubled over, coughing and sputtering. As he struggled to draw breath, Trent leaned down and spoke quietly into his ear.

“My office.”

He turned and walked back down the corridor without even waiting to see if Fitz was going to follow.

He did follow, eventually, once he’d caught his breath. Trent was already seated behind the desk by the time he entered. He may have underestimated the man. He was young, but apparently fully capable of handling himself and had a hot temper.

“I may have deserved that.”

Trent simply glared at him. After a moment, he came around and closed the door.

“Trent, I know you’re upset. That’s why I came looking for you. I didn’t want you to be worried she might be missing. She’s safe.”

“Well, thank you for that, at least.” With a sigh, he returned to his seat, dropping his forehead into his palms and rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands.

“I don’t think there’s any reason for you to be this troubled, Trent. We are engaged, after all.”

“Ash sent her to me for safekeeping. You’ve met the man. How do you think he’s going to feel about this?”

Fitz shrugged. “I don’t think it’s any of his business, quite frankly.”

“Wrong answer. Until the two of you are officially married, she is under his care. And I may be his half-brother, but my position here is not guaranteed, so I don’t appreciate you repaying my hospitality by putting it in jeopardy.”

“It wasn’t as if I went and stole her out of her bed. She was scared and wanted to talk about our future.”

“And that’s all that happened? You just talked?”

“That’s definitely none of your business.”

After a moment, he nodded. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

“Listen, we’re all on the same side here. We all just want to make sure Daisy is safe and cared for. She is and will continue to be.”

Trent nodded and let out a long breath. “I suppose you’re right. I may have overreacted.” He grimaced slightly. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have punched you.”

“Oh, you definitely should have. I would have punched me if I were you.”
