Chapter 32

Annette

T erry huffed and smacked the phone mount on his dashboard so hard that his phone flew.

The phone clattered near my feet. This was where I knew my therapy was working because I didn’t flinch or jump since I knew he wasn’t going to hurt me.

Looking at him, I tried to gauge a nearly unreadable facial feature, but it was hard because he was looking away from me to pull out of the valet area. So I asked him, “Everything okay?”

“Carmie's being a dick.” But when he turned his head, his facial features softened as he laid eyes on me. “Or maybe he’s being an angel.”

I giggled. Times like this, he was so ridiculous. How could one of his teammates be both an asshole and an angel all at the same time?

I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. He wasn’t drunk since he only had a glass of red wine, so it should be clear what he was talking about.

“Care to elaborate?” I probed.

I leaned down to pick up his phone, but I didn’t look at it.

“Eric is asleep, and Carter won’t let us pick him up until morning.”

I snorted. Siobhan had texted a few babysitting updates throughout the night. Granted, it was mostly about Eric sleeping after Carter wore him out by letting him run around the house. But anytime I asked about pick-up, she said it wasn’t happening and that we were supposed to have a proper date night.

Terry did one of those exaggerated head turns, and his eyes practically begged for more information.

“Siobhan has been texting all night, and they’re in cahoots. I swear they want us to hook up tonight,” I fake-grumbled.

His hand moved from the drive stick to my thigh, and the warmth of his hand made me wet.

As the car drifted to the right, I couldn’t help myself when I said, “Jesus, keep your eyes on the road.”

With a sigh, he placed both hands on the steering wheel and made the necessary corrections to get us back between the lines. But he must have been getting impatient to get home since I felt the push of our bodies into the seats as the car accelerated even faster.

As we got close to the house, Terry said, “Just so we’re on the same page when we get home. Can I do some of the things I think about doing to you each night?”

Oh god, after some of the stories I’d heard from Natalie and some of the rumors on Reddit, I didn’t think I was ready for that. But at the same time, having sex with basically a demi-god could be fun as long as he didn’t care that I wasn’t as skilled as him.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked.

“Sex. Lots of it. So I hope you’re ready to be ravished.”

Terry had always been my best lay, not that he had much competition with Luke. If he had gotten better, then I was going to have a fun night. I just hoped I didn’t suck.

My voice was timid when I responded, “Sure.”

All of a sudden, he slammed on the brakes, causing me to freak out as we spun out slightly. It was so unnecessary, but that was him. He was always a little extra and wasn’t afraid to show off his feelings, but this was a little crazy, even for him.

Thankfully, we were the only ones on the road as we came to a complete stop.

He looked straight at me. “This is not something I’m willing to do without you being one hundred percent on board. I’m not that kind of guy.”

Taking a deep breath, I nodded firmly. “Yes, I want to have sex with you.”

He then righted the car, pushed the pedal to the metal, and sped down the road. It was a miracle no one was out on the roads to report his erratic driving.

I had a feeling tonight would be the creation of another core memory with Terry.
