Noah walked next to him, and he pulled his face covering down to reveal a wide smile. Dom, on the other hand, looked… pouty?
“What crawled up your ass?” I asked Dom as he came to a stop near us and cast a detached, clinical stare over what was left of Ramon.
He huffed. “I challenged Hargraves to a little competition, and I lost.”
Noah pulled Zach into a bro hug before sliding in front of me to do his obligatory check over my whole body for injuries.
I swatted him away, muttering about how I was a big girl and completely unharmed, obviously , and he just chuckled at me before he turned to Dom.
“It was pretty even, Dom. The team took a few of your easy kills with that grenade. My side of the roof just had more bodies to choose from.”
“Still,” he griped, and I stifled a smile. My dad had gotten into a sniper competition with my boyfriend, and if that wasn’t a good summation of the state of my life right now, I didn’t know what was.
It was Bennett’s turn to step in front of me where I stood, still clinging to Zach, and he pulled his balaclava down before tugging mine off as well.
He wrapped his big hand gently around the back of my neck as he searched my face, those powerful green eyes threatening to pull me into a trance. “You back with us now, Angel?”
I sighed. “Yes. Despite our… current surroundings, I feel more at peace than I ever have now that I have all three of you with me again.”
“Good,” he rumbled before stealing a raw, possessive kiss from me. I moaned into his mouth, and I felt Zach suck in a startled breath next to me.
When Bennett pulled away, Zach was grinning from ear to ear. He motioned between the two of us. “Sooo, when did this happen?”
I shrugged. “After Bennett beat Anders to death with his bare hands for drugging and kidnapping me and also for selling my dad’s priceless research to the Families who murdered my parents for it.”
Zach was silent for a beat, his eyes bouncing between us, before he said, “I’ve missed some things.”
“You’ve missed some things,” Noah agreed.
I snuggled into Zach’s side as I gave Bennett a dreamy smile. “We fucked and he also L-worded me.”
Bennett returned my smile with a smug grin of his own while Zach pouted next to me. “Seriously, man? You’re the world’s most stubborn fucking asshole about her all this time, and suddenly you’re jumping ahead of the rest of us with the L-word ? Unreal. Fuck you.”
“That’s what I said,” Noah told him, but they were both grinning—clearly as happy as I was that the four of us were a solid unit once again.
Zach’s dark gaze snagged on something across the room. “Wait, is that… Martinez?” His narrow-eyed stare tracked Martinez’s tall, muscular form as he breezed through the bay doors, tossed a salute our way, then moseyed over to check in with Kara.
“Another thing you missed,” Bennett grumbled, sounding bitter.
I’d known that Martinez had worked deep within the high levels of Spencer years ago, but I hadn’t known until earlier tonight that he’d also been Bennett’s bodyguard for a stint.
“Our girlfriend is the leader of a powerful underground network of Family defectors. Keep up.”
“I’m not sure I’d say I’m the leader—” I began, but then another of our team ambled by.
“Hey, boss lady,” Rocky said to me before he looked at Zach. “Good to see you in one piece, Ferrero.”
Zach gaped at him. “ Et tu , Rocky?”
Rocky, who had been a head bouncer at the Club in his previous life, just shot Zach a saucy wink before joining the huddle with the rest of the team.
Zach shook his head. “He was one of the best guys we had at the Club before he up and disappeared two years ago. What an asshole.”
I grinned sheepishly at all three of my boyfriends. “We have collected some interesting people in the Shadows. But now that includes you guys, right?”
“Of course it does, sweetheart,” Noah replied.
“In the what now?” Zach asked, confused.
Before I could launch into my explanation of who the fuck all these people were, the loud screeching of tires sounded outside the bay door.
Every single one of us drew our weapons as one of the armored SUVs that had been blocking the bridge from the City slid to a grinding halt right in front of the warehouse entrance. The driver’s door opened, and Frankie hopped out.
“Aw, damn, did I miss all the fun?” he asked, unbothered that he had twenty guns pointed at him.
He slammed the door, and a black-clad body that had apparently taken a ride on the hood of the vehicle slid to the ground with an unimpressive thud.
He stuck out his lower lip and said with a dramatic whine, “You guys said I could play with the flamethrower.”
He strolled inside, and even the most seasoned members of our team watched him warily.
Frankie’s ratty baby-pink tank top was soaked with blood, the spatter crawling up his neck and onto his face.
He’d slung his AK-47 haphazardly across his back, and I didn’t even want to know what other sharp objects he had strapped to his body.
The only person not gaping at him was Max, whose hungry gaze tracked Frankie’s every movement as Frankie approached where I stood with my boys.
“Goddamn it,” I swore under my breath. “I think Max fucked Frankie. Or if he hasn’t, he definitely wants to.”
Zach snorted. “In his dreams. Frankie doesn’t fuck outside the Club, Princess.”
I wasn’t so sure about that, given that I’d just watched Frankie’s caramel eyes slide toward Max and then bounce away like he didn’t want to get caught looking.
Ugh, Max .
“Nephew!” Frankie crowed as he neared us. “Glad to see you looking well and in the arms of your beloved.” He stopped to examine Ramon. “Ah, I see someone got what was coming to him. Want me to have that delivered to my dear sister’s doorstep?”
“Definitely,” Zach replied. “Pin a note to his chest that says she should consider this my resignation from Ferrero.”
“Done,” Frankie said, grinning. “I should probably tender my resignation as well. I think I’ve burned all the bridges—literally and figuratively.” He waggled his pierced eyebrows, then he looked at me. “Got a place for me in the Shadows, Little Knight?”
The hum of shocked whispers and muttering sounded around us. The infamous Frankie Fingers wanted to join the Shadows?
And I wasn’t even going to ask how he’d known what the Shadows were in the first place.
“Um, fuck yes, we do,” I replied. “And at Knight, if you want it.”
He beamed at me before performing a little bow. “I am at your service, my lady.”
“Alright, team,” Dom called out, waking everyone from their slack- jawed stupor at watching Frankie Fingers swear fealty to the Knight Heir. “Clear out. Martinez is going to torch the place. We meet the boats in ten.”
“Fuck, I need a nap,” Zach moaned. “And… some shoes.”
We’d get him both of those things, and I’d make sure he didn’t leave my side for the rest of the night.
