A throat cleared from the patio doorway, and I quickly moved to sit up on the couch, my softening cock still buried inside my Angel.
Noah stood there with an amused grin on his face, his hair damp and his wetsuit unzipped and hanging down around his hips. “Hi, sweetheart. Have fun?”
She gave him a gorgeous, happy smile. “Hi, Noah. Yes, Zach and I taught Bennett how to share.”
“I am not a child. I know how to share,” I grumbled.
Noah meandered over to us and leaned over the back of the couch to steal a kiss from Jolie. “Don’t listen to Spencer,” he whispered. “We’ll have to make sure he keeps practicing.”
“Often,” Zach added.
“Dicks,” I muttered, but one look at Jolie’s gorgeous, sated face as she smiled down at me and I was certain we would absolutely be doing this often.
Fortunately, when the elevator announced yet another visitor to the Knight penthouse, we were all fully dressed and mercifully free of the evidence of what three of the four of us had just gotten up to on the living room couch.
When Dom, Laura, and my mother walked into our kitchen, the sense of how close we’d actually just cut it to having our parents walk in on a fucking threesome was palpable.
“Hi, kids,” Laura gushed with a big grin as she took in the kitchen, the living room, and the view of the patio. “Hope we’re not interrupting anything? Just wanted to drop by for a quick visit, see the place, check on things. You know, the usual parent stuff.”
Jolie coughed into her coffee mug, the pink hitting her cheeks telling me her mind had gone where mine had, before she replied, “Nope, now’s a great time for a visit.”
I was standing by our espresso machine, so I put another cup on for my mom as she sidled up next to me. “Hey, sweetie. I just wanted to come by to make sure you were… okay.”
“I’m great, Mom,” I replied, pulling her into a quick hug before stepping back to examine her.
Her blue eyes were bright, and her affectionate smile was big and genuine. She’d pulled her blonde hair into an easy ponytail, and she wore a soft pink sweater and stylish jeans.
She gave me a knowing look, reaching up to run her hand down my cheek. “I’m weaning off my pills, Bennett. I’m ready to be… present in my life now.”
I handed her a little cup of espresso, which she took with a gracious smile. “I’m happy to hear that, Mom.”
The rest of the group had gathered around the dining room table where Zach had put out the giant cheese board he’d had delivered yesterday, so I led my mom over to an open chair before sliding into another next to Jolie.
“—been chasing Spencer goons out of Olde Town, but that’s nothing new,” Dom was saying, and my hackles went up immediately.
“Are they looking for my mom?” I asked. “And where’s Martinez, anyway, Mom? He’s supposed to be watching you.”
She waved a dismissive hand at me. “Dominic and Laura are perfectly capable, and I asked them to bring me to see you. John is allowed a day off, Bennett.”
I narrowed my eyes at that breathy, affectionate utterance of Martinez’s first name, then I caught Jolie grinning into her coffee cup.
“Mom, Martinez had better be doing his damn job, or I will introduce him to Knight Tower’s workroom.”
Zach and Noah both tried and failed to smother their amusement at my obvious distress, and Dom was no different. Only Laura kept her face fastidiously neutral, and it was suspicious as fuck.
My mom crossed her arms with a petulant huff. “Bennett James Spencer, that hostility is unnecessary.”
“ Anyway ,” Dom said. “Bridgette has been… learning a lot now that she’s spending time outside Spencer Tower, and she’s been worried about you kids.”
Mom sighed before turning her clear gaze to me, and the overwhelming relief I felt at seeing her so alert had me kicking myself for not finding a way out for her sooner.
“Your father has obviously kept a lot of things from me over the years. I can’t say I wasn’t aware that Spencer has its hands in some…
unsavory things, but I also put a lot of effort into disassociating from it.
And from my marriage. I’m so sorry I wasn’t more present for you, honey. ”
Jolie clasped my hand in hers under the table. I never resented my mother for what she’d done just to survive, especially as I’d grown older and seen just how shitty of a husband my father was, but her words did wonders to soothe a wound I’d done my best to ignore for years.
Mom went on, “And now that I see what’s really been going on?
And what he did to our little Jojo?” She turned her now teary gaze to Jolie.
“Sweetie, I’m so sorry. I realize now that you’ve been very well taken care of, but I also know how much these boys ached without you.
I’m so devastated over what my Family has done to yours, I can’t even put it into words. ”
Jolie reached across the table to give my mom’s hand a little squeeze. “No apology necessary, Mrs. Spencer. I’m just glad Bennett will be able to provide a better life for you now.”
She nodded, wiping her eyes. “It’s all thanks to you, sweetie. I’m so happy you’re all together again. Even if while you were growing up, we didn’t exactly contemplate that you’d be together… like this .” She shook her head with a tinkling little laugh.
Zach smothered his own laugh with a cough while Noah and I both cleared our throats, all of us doing our best to look really fucking innocent—which was difficult after what we’d just done to Jolie on the couch ten feet away from us.
I gave my mom one last assessing stare. “And you’re really not going back to him?”
“No,” she said with a sad smile. “Not after what I’ve learned he did to the Knights. I couldn’t stomach being there anymore, anyway, Bennett. He’s become much less discreet with his… activities with the staff.”
“Fucking Elise,” I growled, and Mom winced, the tears flowing freely now, and it made me want to drive to Spencer Tower and bury my fist in father’s face tonight .
Jolie reached for Mom’s hand again. “Mrs. Spencer, listen to me. Elise Proctor is a dead woman walking. I am going to end her life with my bare hands for what she’s done to both of us. I promise. ”
Mom laughed through a sob. “Bennett, please marry this girl.”
“Planning on it, Mom,” I replied with a cocky grin.
Jolie’s jaw dropped the tiniest bit before she snapped it closed, her little smile and pink cheeks satisfying something primal within me. I ignored the grumbling from her other boyfriends.
We’d sort that shit out later.
