He released Donavan and stalked toward me.

He cradled my face in his big hands as he stared down at me with an intensity that rivaled Bennett on his broodiest day.

“No, Princess. This is me apologizing for pushing you away by being a giant dick because my attention got you knocked out and chained to a radiator. This is also me declaring to you, here and now, that I will do anything for you—even if it brings the wrath of the almighty Four Families right down on top of me. You’re my missing piece, and I’m never letting anyone take you from me again.

I’ll burn the world down for you and follow you into hell.

I’ll destroy everyone who’s ever wronged you, or I’ll serve them up to you on a silver platter so you can punish them yourself like the badass warrior queen you are.

I’m off my leash, baby girl, and I’m yours now. ”

I gaped at him, my stomach flipping so dangerously that my knees trembled. “Mine?” I croaked. “As in…?” I needed him to spell it out. This was the man who’d slept in my bed for weeks and had done nothing more than kiss my cheek.

“All of it, Princess,” he purred. “Soulmates. Partners. Lovers.” He leaned in closer, our noses now almost touching, and he whispered, “ Forever.”

“Oh.” Oh shit.

“God, this is so fucking disgusting,” Donavan spat.

I yanked the knife from the sheath strapped to my thigh under my skirt and launched it at him, impaling him right in his meaty thigh. “Shut the fuck up, asshole.”

He wailed as the wound started to bleed dangerously. Zach’s pupils were now blown wide as he stared at me, and the look on his face was hungry . “That was fucking hot, Princess.”

Then he finally— mercifully —yanked my face to his and smashed his lips against mine with a feral growl.

I opened for him, a wanton moan escaping me, and he devoured my lips, sucking and nibbling before he shoved his tongue into my mouth.

He took what he wanted from me—consumed me like I was the air he needed to breathe, and I threw my arms around his neck and plastered my body against his, loving every goddamn second of it.

My Zach. My goofy, mischievous Zach. He came back to me, and he wanted me as much as I had to finally admit to myself that I wanted him.

“Princess,” he murmured against my lips, pecking me again before pulling back to look at me. “As much as I don’t mind an audience on occasion”—I filed that away for later—“that creepy fucker is not allowed to see you like this.”

I sighed. “Right.”

I released him and strode over to Donavan to muse over his fate.

He was already starting to droop, the blood loss from the knife in his leg taking its toll.

“Hey, dickface.” I slapped his face lightly.

“Answer my questions honestly, and I’ll consider letting you leave here with your dick still attached to your body. ”

He spat at me, and I stepped swiftly out of the way just in time to avoid getting hit.

Zach was in front of him in an instant. He yanked my knife from Donavan’s thigh before burying it expertly in his side in a way that would hurt like a bitch but miss his major organs.

“Do not,” he growled. “Ever. Spit. At. My. Girl.”

“Fuck you,” Donavan managed to wheeze. “I can’t wait until your mom tosses that bitch to your Enforcers. You think they’ll take turns with her?”

Rage blanketed Zach’s face, and he twisted the knife in Donavan’s side, his smirk reemerging as he basked in the resulting squeals of pain.

I returned to Zach’s side, running a soothing hand down his back before I looked at Donavan. “How many girls have you forced yourself on, you disgusting creep? There’s no way I was your first target.”

He glowered at me.

Zach twisted the knife again. “Better answer her, or I will.”

“They… wanted it,” he huffed between panicked breaths.

Zach tutted his disapproval. “Noah found no less than eight buried reports, either to your high school’s disciplinary board or to the City police.

You like to prey on scholarship students or other girls who lack the resources to put up a fight against your family when they throw money at your predilections . ”

I threw my fist into Donavan’s face, further fucking up the nose that either Max or Frankie had broken before they dragged him down here. “You bastard. This shit ends now.”

Zach produced a Glock from the waistband of his jeans. He held it out to me. “Do you want to do the honors? I have a cleanup crew ready to go.”

“What the fuck!” Donavan shouted, thrashing. “You can’t kill me.”

Zach gave him a condescending glare. “Of course we can, idiot. We can do anything we want.”

I stared down at the gun. It was tempting, but… it didn’t feel right. I knew I wasn’t going to get through this journey without blood on my hands. I even welcomed it.

But Donavan, while a piece of shit, wasn’t on my list. He hadn’t even touched me before I’d put him on the floor, so I hadn’t been harboring the burning need to end his life.

But I sure as shit wasn’t going to let him loose to harm another girl.

I shook my head at Zach. “He lives.”

Zach pouted at me, but he nodded with understanding as he shoved the gun back into his pants.

“But…,” I went on, eyeing Donavan again, “did Frankie teach you any cool tricks? I’d like him to never be able to get it up again.”

Zach’s grin was savage. “He sure did.”

I stepped away, not needing a front-row seat for this part as Zach got to work.

After he’d pulled the knife from Donavan’s side and used it to rip open his pants, I watched as he plucked a little scalpel from Frankie’s collection of sharp, pointy things on the wall and then made quick work of Donavan’s manhood.

Donavan vomited and promptly passed out.

Zach was back at the wall and wiping the blood off his blade within minutes, barely a hair out of place.

He sauntered back over to me, grabbed the back of my head, then laid a filthy kiss on my lips. I groaned, fisting the front of his soft T-shirt, but he pulled away far too quickly.

He put his phone to his ear, staring at me with his eyes full of promise as he mouthed, “Later” at me while it rang. “Yeah. It’s done. Get him patched up enough that he doesn’t die, then inform his family they are no longer welcome in Saint Gabriel City. I want them gone in forty-eight hours.”

Good. Those rape-enabling pieces of shit needed to be shown the door .

Zach hung up the phone, then he pulled me into his arms again.

“How pissed is Andrea going to be about this?” I asked. I knew Donavan’s family was connected to Ferrero.

He shrugged. “The family is Tier Two, but they were rapidly growing. My mom might notice their absence in a month or two. But—” He gave me an indulgent look before pressing a kiss to my temple. “—I have a feeling she’ll have other things to worry about by then.”

I grinned. “You know it.”

“Let’s get out of here, baby girl. It stinks like fear and vomit, and I have one more gift for you.”

“You do?” I wasn’t sure how he was going to top that .

That evil grin was back. “I think you’re actually going to like this one better.”

Well, then. “Lead the way, Ferrero.”
