Page 113 of A Home for Harmony
Which made her wonder—if this person had her address, why they didn’t send them? You could get them online too. But she always said how much she loved flowers too.
Today she never said who sent her flowers, just posted that she got them. Nothing else in terms of gifts either.
Micah said not to change anything and she didn’t. She posted the picture of the three bouquets and didn’t say a word.
Maybe she was secretly hoping she’d get a private message or email from someone claiming that anonymous bouquet, but nothing had happened yet.
“I would have gotten you chocolate-covered strawberries if I knew that,” he said.
“I don’t know your favorite treats,” she said, grinning.
“I can tell you them,” Scarlet said. “Aren’t you going to kiss Harmony for her birthday, Dad?”
“I had lunch with her earlier. We kissed then.”
She laughed. “You can never get enough kisses.”
He walked over and gave her a kiss on the lips. Not one that was forced by his daughter’s prompting, but a warm one with his arm around her waist, giving her a reassuring squeeze.
“Better?” he asked quietly.
Harmony nodded and hoped tears didn’t spring into her eyes.
“Dinner is ready,” Scarlet said. “Dad, you can set the table? Harmony, sit. It’s your night. Did you do anything fun other than go to lunch with Dad?”
“Not really,” she said. “I got some work done and that is about it.”
“Did you get any good gifts?”
“My daughter is all about gifts,” he said, grabbing plates and setting them down.
“Who wasn’t at sixteen?” Harmony asked. “I got flowers and gift cards. Daisy gave me this bracelet on Sunday.” She showed the silver bracelet. There were several flowers on it symbolizing a harmony of flowers.
“That’s so pretty,” Scarlet said. “What did Dad get you?”
“He gave me his love.” She knew it sounded cheesy and it caused Scarlet to giggle.
“That’s a great gift, but you should have bought Harmony something, Dad. Don’t be cheap.”
She smirked and saw Micah’s face flush. “He doesn’t need to give me a gift.”
“I got you something,” he said. “Maybe I was waiting until later to give it to you.”
“Eww, Dad,” Scarlet said. “That’s gross.”
Micah’s face got even redder. That funny comment would only dissuade her from staying here at night with Scarlet in the house. She knew that right away.
“Fine,” he said. “I’ll get it now.”
He left the kitchen and went upstairs and came back with a gift bag and handed it over.
Harmony pulled the tissue paper out and saw the roadside safety kit inside and laughed.
“What is it?” Scarlet asked, moving over. She took it out. “Dad! That’s a horrible gift. You’re so boring.”
“It’s meant as a joke,” he said, cracking a grin. He put another bag, a smaller one that was behind his back, on the table.
“Ohhh,” she said. “I wonder what it could be.” Harmony pulled the box from Blossoms out and flipped the lid on theearrings. “They match the bracelet from Daisy! Did you ask her to make these?” She knew her bracelet was one of a kind.
