“You’d be wrong,” he whispered.

“Everyone looks at you and thinks you’ve got it all together,” she said. “I know I see that.”

“What do you see?” His eyes were moving over her face.

She ran her hand over his cheek. He loved when she did small, loving gestures like that. Actions that warmed something cold deep inside of him.

“I see a guy that is well respected. Someone loved by his daughter and even has a soft spot that only a few see. I’m lucky enough to be one of those people. You’ve got your life together even when you worried you didn’t. Maybe because there was a part of your life you didn’t have together so you make sure you do now. You learn from whatever mistakes you’ve made.”

“I do,” he said.

“See,” she said. “I’m smart.”

“And you’re getting your shit together,” he said. “At least it seems like you have it together for me. You’re bringing happiness into my life when I didn’t think anyone could. You’ve opened my mind too.”

“You’re going to make me cry with all the nice things you’re saying,” she said. “I love you.”

“I love you too, but I’m only speaking the truth.”

She leaned up and kissed him. “Okay, I don’t want to cry. I really don’t. It’s been an up and down day. We haven’t spent a lot of time together and I get to spend the night. I know you don’t want me here when Scarlet is.”

“I’m sorry about that.” There was no reason to lie and say it wasn’t true.

“Don’t be,” she said. “I’m not sure how I’d feel sleeping with you if she’s in the other room. Maybe in time.”

“Thank you for understanding.”

“And because I understand, there is something you can do for me,” she said, smiling.

“What’s that?”

“We can have porn sex tonight,” she said, wiggling around.

She always managed to stun him.

“Porn sex?” he asked. “Like filming ourselves? Because that is a hard no.”

“No,” she said, waving her hand. “I’d never do that. I’d be too terrified that someone would find it even if it was deleted. Hard no here too.”

He let out a breath. No way he would ever put himself in that kind of position.

“Then what are you talking about?”

“I know you’ve watched porn before,” she said, moving out of his arms and grabbing his hand to pull him to his room.

“A time or two,” he said drily.

“Yeah, we’ll say that,” she said, giggling.

“How often haveyouwatched it?” he asked.

“A time or two,” she said, smirking at him.

“So what is it you want to do?” he asked. “I’m positive I can be in line with it.”

“Oh,” she said. “I know you will be.” They got to his room and she shut the door. “Porn sex is multiple positions and not coming for a long time. How long can you hold off?”

“Jesus.” Just the thought of that had him hard. “Are you serious?”
