Story: The Reign of Rain Robinson
“Not like that.”
“True.” Marvin paused and looked Sataria up and down. “Come on inside.”
“No. I really can’t stay.” She kissed Marvin, on the cheek this time. “I’ll call you,” Sataria said and Marvin walked her to her car. Sataria kissed him again and then she got in. He watched her drive off before he wiped the lipstick off and went back inside.
By that time, The Regulators were all on stage, Cristal had the mic and the crowd in the palm of her hand and the dance floor was still packed. He looked around for Fantasy, and since she was all up in Carter’s face, Marvin turned his attention to the other women in attendance.
He had just seen one he liked and was about to head in her direction, when he heard what sounded like shooting coming from outside Cuisine. When he turned to look, Marvin saw armed men with masks run in the club firing. He returned fire and took cover.
One of the first shots hit Cristal and she went down. Lola Luv ran off the stage as Monte Cole dragged Cristal out of the line of fire. P Harlem pulled his gun and returned fire as he ran, grabbing Scarlet and pulling her along with him.
Three more men came in the front door armed with Mini-14s and began firing. Ram was about to grab Barbara and run, but before he could, RJ grabbed her by the arm and ran for cover with Venus right behind him. After that, Ram ran for cover, dove under a table, kept his head covered and prayed he’d make it out alive.
Mercedes made her way to the bar for cover, firing shots along the way. Carter was right behind her; he shot one of the attackers as he and Fantasy moved behind the bar for cover. While Fiona hid under the table, Jackie and Travis shot it out with the masked gunmen. As they fired at Travis, he flipped over a table for better cover and fired back. Jackie fired at the shooter and hit him with three shots, and he fell over firing wildly.
“I’m going to cover the door. Stop them from coming in. Stay with Fiona,” Travis said and moved out.
While two other gunmen continued firing with AR15s, Ryder and Baby Chris returned their fire as they ran. The two men kept firing and forced them to better cover to regroup.
While Travis made his way to the door to engage the men coming in the front door, Treach and Smoke were exchanging fire with two men armed with mini’s.
“Look out!” Treach yelled to Smoke as the two men blanketed the club with bullets. One fired and hit Smoke with three shots to the chest before he could get a shot off. When he was close enough, Treach fired at one of the gunmen and killed him.
Ryder ducked behind a table and stayed put until the shooting stopped; then she got up. While the shooters stopped to reload, Ryder fired and hit him with three shots before moving to better cover.
“Stay here,” Carter told Fantasy and then came up firing on the gunmen from behind the bar. One of his shots grazed the side of his head, and it disoriented him long enough for Carter to put two in his chest. He took the mini and two magazines from the one he just killed and headed toward Jackie.
“Ready?” Carter said when he made it to her.
Jackie looked at Fiona. “I’ll be all right,” she said, and Jackie handed her one of her guns and Fiona put one in the chamber.
“Let’s go,” Jackie said to Carter and they came up firing. The men took cover and shot back. Carter emptied the magazine on the clip and reached for his nine. The man stood up and Jackie fired twice, hitting him with one to the chest and one to the head.
When the man fired at Carter and missed, he raised his weapon, fired and Carter hit him with several shots to the chest and fell over a table.
When more men began running in the club, they were met by Travis, who killed them as they came through the door. Meanwhile, Baby Chris and Ryder were getting close to the shooters.
“Go!” he yelled to Ryder.
Baby Chris stood up and laid down cover fire, while Ryder moved closer. Once she made it and was set, she covered, while Baby Chris ran toward her position. When he made it to her, they both opened fire and killed the last of the shooters in the club.
Or so they thought.
Naturally the shots could be heard in the kitchen, and the scared staff turned to their leader for guidance.
“Go in the storage closet, lock the door and don’t open it for anybody but me,” Chef Aja said to them and went to get her knives. She could hear somebody coming down the hall and thought about what her objective was.
Where he is coming, how to disarm him, and then how to kill him?
In her mind’s eye, she could see him come through the door with gun in hand.
The gun will be in his right hand; I need to be to the left of the door when he comes in.
I will knock the gun from his hand with my left forearm, spin and cut his throat with the knife in my right hand.
But suppose he’s left handed?
Once he entered the kitchen, Chef Aja was in position and executed her plan. The second that he stepped inside with the gun in his right hand; she knocked it from his hand with her left forearm; slicing his arm in the process, making him cry out. She then spun around with the grace of a gazelle and cut his throat with the knife in her right hand.
