Story: The Reign of Rain Robinson
Rain shot back and then made her way back to Carter, while he kept firing to cover her. Now that the front of the bar was cleared, and Rain had made it back to where he was, she and Carter opened fire on the shooters and then moved to better cover in one of the booths near the front of the club. Just then, Carter saw Damián Custodio running toward the front exit.
“There he is!” Carter yelled, fired a few shots, stood up and went after him. Rain stood up firing and ran after Carter as the men kept firing at them.
Once he got outside, Carter saw Damián Custodio running down the street and he went after him, firing shots as he ran.
Rain burst through the doors and looked around for Carter. She saw him running down the street and started after him just as the last two shooters came out of the club and began firing at her. She took cover behind a car and returned fire. Rain raised her weapons and fired blindly at the shooters. They continued to fire in Rain’s direction.
She stood up, fired and hit one of the shooters with several rounds. Rain dropped down, but she came right back up firing and hit the last shooter. Then she ran off to try and catch up with Carter, reloading as she ran down the street.
Carter ran as fast as he could after Damián Custodio, firing shots as he ran, and made a mental note to cut down on the oatmeal raisin cookies. Custodio stopped, turned and fired a couple of shots at Carter, before he took off again and rounded the corner. Carter returned fire, but when he rounded the corner, Custodio was nowhere in sight.
“Fuck!” Carter yelled and kicked a nearby garbage can.
Meanwhile, Rain was running to catch up with Carter when she heard gunshots coming from behind her. She looked back and could see two men running to catch up with her. Rain stopped, turned, let go with both guns, turned and started running again in one fluid move. She didn’t hit anything, mostly because her pursuers were too far away, but for Rain, that was good because her pursuers couldn’t hit her either.
For a brief second or two, she considered shooting it out with them, but she had to check on Carter. So, Rain kept running and her pursuers, who hadn’t figured out that she was out of range, kept firing at her.
As she approached the corner, she saw Carter running toward her and then he stopped. He had heard the shots and was coming to help Rain. When he saw the men chasing her, he stepped into the shadows and waited.
Fuck is he doing? Rain questioned as she ran. But she figured that he had a plan that she hoped worked as she ran by him. Carter watched as Rain ran by him and readied his gun. When her pursuers ran by him, Carter stepped out and fired twice and hit each in the back.
“Rain!” Carter yelled, and she stopped running and came back to him.
“I guess you lost him, huh?” she asked when she got to him.
“Yeah. I couldn’t catch up with him.” Carter patted his stomach. “Getting fat and slow.”
Rain just looked at him. “Nigga, please,” she said and started walking back to his car. “When you start getting fat, I’ll let you know.”
When they got back to J.R.’s, both thought that they needed a drink, so they went inside and went to the bar. The boss of The Family and her new consigliere sat in the empty club for the next hour before they left.
It was six thirty-seven in the morning when he got to the condo that he shared with Mileena. When he went in the
bedroom to take off his clothes and get in bed, Mileena was already fast asleep on her side.
It hadn’t been a good night for her. Not that there were any problems at the club, things actually ran smoothly for a change. What made the night hard for her is that she felt neglected because it seemed that Carter had time for everybody that night but her.
Mileena told Demi to run the club while she went to the office and got drunk with Yarrisa. And when the club closed, instead of waiting around until everything was done, she once again told Demi to handle it and Mileena went home. She got in bed, alone again, and thought that this was not what she expected when she let Carter back in her world.
And then Black had to go and make him a captain, Mileena thought. But even in that, this is not what I expected.
When Carter told Mileena that Black had made him a captain, her expectation was that he would be a captain like Howard, Sherman, Cynt and Doc. They never did any of the heavy lifting in The Family. Those were tasks that were delegated to soldiers, like Carter was for Howard. He would call anytime, day or night, and Carter would leave to go do whatever he needed.
That was what she was expecting of Carter as captain; that he would send his soldiers to handle The Family business and come back and report to him when it was done. But that was not the case.
And I should have known better.
The boss of The Family was Rain Robinson, and in the time that Mileena had known and worked for her, she had come to know that Rain can’t keep still.
Rain Robinson has to be right in the middle of the action. Howard, Sherman, Cynt and Doc represented the old guard. The new captains, Jackie, Ed Weather and Carter were a completely different breed, Mileena thought. Perfect captains for the action junkie boss of The Family.
Since she had been drinking with Yarrisa, Mileena’s head spun a little when she laid down and tried to go to sleep. The words, this is not what I expected, rolling around in her mind.
Carter got undressed and since neither of them liked sleeping with clothes on, when he pulled back the covers and saw that she was naked, he eased in bed next to her. He paused to admire her ass and of course, just the sight of it made Carter want to be inside her. Since they’ve been together, Mileena and Carter have always had an understanding about sex.
If I’m asleep and you want some, just put it in me, I’ll wake up, Mileena told him once and it has become their policy. Carter lay next to her, looking at her ass and stroking himself. Once he was hard, Carter moved close to Mileena and lifted her leg. He ran the head along her lips a few times and then eased into her slowly.
“Good morning,” Mileena mumbled after a few of Carter’s deep strokes.
“There he is!” Carter yelled, fired a few shots, stood up and went after him. Rain stood up firing and ran after Carter as the men kept firing at them.
