Story: The Drop
"What was it?" I laugh, grabbing four waters out of the fridge and raising my eyebrows as Gunnar leans past me, grabbing a beer.
"I'm not that drunk." He shrugs and nods to it as I shake my head at him, going to distribute the water.
"Gunnar came up with it." Grant throws an arm around my shoulders as Gunnar looks down sheepishly. "Drink every time Sasha calls. A text that's over two sentences is a shot."
"Oh my God," Cami says, shocked, and I frown at the boys before she surprises me. "I want to play; is she still calling?"
Gunnar lets out a bark of a laugh as he lifts his phone, showing Sasha's name-calling.
Cami squeals, running to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of wine, and wiggling it at me, but I'm fully supporting Grant's weight now.
"Pass." I smile, nodding my head at him. "I'm going to put the responsible captain to bed."
"Boo," she says, sticking her tongue out at me before sitting down at the kitchen island and Gunnar joins her, and I wish I could be a fly on the wall as from the snores I'm hearing both Adam and Bear have passed out on the sofas so it's just the two of them.
After a bit of manoeuvring, I get Grant to my room and into bed fully clothed.
"You're great," he says drunkenly as he pulls me close to him when I get in.
"You're drunk." I laugh as he nuzzles my neck, pressing kisses against my skin, making me sigh. I had missed him today.
"I'm taking you on a date tomorrow." He yawns, flipping onto his back and pulling me with him so I'm lying half on top of him.
"You are?" I whisper, "How do I know you'll remember you said that?"
"Well, if I forget which I won't, you need to remind me because I want to take you on a date, but I'm nervous."
"Grant Anders nervous?" I ask him, but I know he's fallen asleep already. I snuggle up to him. "You make me nervous, too."
He hums like he's heard me, and I smile.
The next morning, I'm having fun banging the cupboards in the kitchen as Adam and Bear groan under their blankets on the sofa. I left Grant drooling on my pillow, but he seems to have worked out I'm not in bed with him anymore as he walks into the living room, jeans undone, hanging off his hips and shirt off. It's not a sight I'm mad at. Once his eyes find mine, he walks over and lifts me to sit on the kitchen island and steps between my legs, clutching me to him.
"Are you okay?" I lean back, brushing my fingers over his forehead lightly.
"I feel like death," he moans, moving his face back into my neck.
"Join the club," Adam whines from his spot on the sofa, and I can't help but laugh at them.
"Let me make some coffee." I push Grant off me and jump down, starting the machine.
"Coffee can't save us, Brookie, leave us here to die," Bear groans, rolling off the sofa and getting up before walking into the fridge like he couldn't see it and pulls a beer out, and I look at him, shaking my head and slowly mouthing "no" at him.
"I know. I just want to look at it because I need to remind myself not to do this again." He puts it against his forehead and leans next to Grant, who's dropped his head to the top of the island, and I just shake my head at the boys.
Adams crawls across the floor over to the island before pulling himself up to sit on the stool on the other side. I hand out strong coffees, which I receive with mumbled thanks, and hop back up on the counter. Grant retakes his spot between my legs, facing away from me this time, and I wrap my arms around him, rubbing his shoulders.
"Morning." We all turn towards the hallway as Gunnar walks out of it with a sheepish smile and moves to the cupboard in the kitchen, grabbing two mugs. He fills them as we watch his every move with wide eyes, none of us saying a word; picking them up, he walks back down the hallway. "Grant?" Adam asks. "Yeah, bud," he replies, we are all still looking down the hallway.
"Did Gunnar sleep with you and Brookie?" We both turn to him and shake our heads.
"Wait." Bear sits up straighter, laughing. "No, because that would mean…"
"He slept in Cami's room?" I finish for him, a slow grin spreading across my face.
"How drunk were we last night?" Adam groans, reaching into his pocket, pulling his keys out before Bear and Grant do the same.
"Seriously!"
