Story: The Drop
"Hayle had nothing to do with it," Grant's voice comes through the team as he walks the guys up to our door. "I checked it all out with Coach, and some of them had no idea."
"Thanks, man," Josh says, nodding at him. Grant just gives him a hard stare back, clearly not wanting to give him any more of his time today.
"I didn't ask the baseball team to do The Drop because I was waiting for spring," I say to Josh, and he nods to me. "But thank you for coming and telling me."
He looks at me for a second longer before nodding and turning and heading down to his car.
"Assholes," Camis says, hugging me. "We should set fire to all their bats."
I laugh, patting her back as I watch the team file into the boy's apartment. "What happened to a quiet night in?" I raise my brow at Grant over Cami's shoulder.
"It is quiet. We aren't drinking." He smiles at me. "You coming over?"
"I would, but we've got pizza and wine over here." I shrug, lingering in the doorway after Cami has released me and heads back in.
"Okay," he says, hugging me and kissing my forehead, and I smile because nothing beats a forehead kiss.
"But Savannah is staying over, so I thought I might crash at yours." I bite my lip and look up at him nervously.
"Sounds like a plan to me."
"Great, let Bear know to leave his door unlocked," I smirk, slamming my door in his face.
"You're evil," he shouts through the door, and I let out a laugh as I skip back over to the girls.
I've got to keep him on his toes.
The February Valentine drop launches without a hitch, and I sit back and watch it sell.
“I got to say, B,” Cami says, sitting down with her coffee next to me, “that’s a great fuck you.”
“I thought so.” Smiling as we look at the page.

Chapter Fifty Two
Grant
I skate around the perimeter of the rink, taking it easy after a game yesterday. We are just going through the motions today. We got in late last night, and Brooke had been out with the girls, so I had spent the night without her, and with an early practice today, I hadn't seen her.
A whistle from Coach catches my attention as he calls me over. "How are we looking?" he grunts at me.. Coach intimidates most people with his grumpy attitude, but he loves coaching and the game. He's just a grumpy type of guy.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" I quip, leaning back against the boards lazily, knowing he hates it. "Don't get smart with me, Anders." He shakes his head, pushing me forward off the board and making me stand next to him. "Anyone else and I would have thrown you over."
I know with one hundred per cent certainty that's true.
"We are good," I nod confidently."The team is gelling well, moving Johnson onto the same line as Adam is working."
He hums in agreement as we watch Adam and Blake Johnson run some drills between them. "I don't like that kid," Coach murmurs, making a cross on his clipboard.
"Aww, come on, Coach, I know Adam can goof off a lot, but he's good on the ice, and he's a real team player," I defend Adam, trying to keep my captain hat on and not my best friend hat.
Coach's gaze snaps across to mine, and he shakes his head. "Price? No, I love that kid." He shakes his head again, looking away, and my eyebrows shoot up. "Johnson, there's something about him that I can't put my finger on."
"Right?" I agree, unsure of what he wants me to say. Sure, Johnson had struggled to begin with, but being on the same line as Adam had helped him enough. Plus, we were winning games, so what could be the problem?"You want to bench him?"
