Story: The Drop
Chapter Fifty
Brooke
The days that follow consist of sitting on the living room floor surrounded by clothes from The Drop, sewing and talking to Savannah about what we can do with different pieces. Cami is busy training for competitions, and the boys are on track to enter the Frozen Four, so practices have intensified, and Grant has been busy trying to keep the team focused on their ultimate goal.
That being said, He's kept his promise and been here every other second, helping however he can and keeping me company. Today is a rare day when we're all together. We are gathered in our living room to finish The Drop by the deadline in four days.
There are clothes everywhere. Cami, Savannah, and I are sitting cross-legged on the floor making scrunchies while Gunnar and Grant Iron t-shirts to hang on hangers, ready to take to the arena for the photoshoot tomorrow.
"Coffee delivery," Bear says, strolling into the apartment holding a tray, and Adam follows, holding another.
"Wow, looks just like the day Brooke moved in," Adam jokes, and I glare at him, while Cami flicks a scrunchie at him.
"It wasn't funny the first time you said it, and it wasn't funny the second time, and it's still not funny when you say it every time you walk in here." I continue to glare at him as Bear punches him on the arm for me.
"When people appreciate my humour, that’s when I stop," he pouts while handing Savannah her coffee, which makes her laugh and brings a smile to his face.
Cami and I exchange glances; surprisingly, Savannah hasn’t fallen for Adam’s playboy charm but rather for his authentic self. However, nothing had happened between them yet.
"How are we looking?" Bear asks, sitting down on the arm of the sofa while Adam leans against the wall nearest to Savannah.
"Pretty good." Sighing, I tie off another scrunchie and toss it into the box where we're collecting them. "I think we are ready for tomorrow's shoot, and then I can edit it over two days".
"I can't believe you've pulled this off, B," Cami sighs, stretching her legs out.
"Yeah, I actually prefer it to the original January drop," I admit, smiling, everything happens for a reason, I've decided.
I missed one month of my assignment, but I'm working on a paper to demonstrate how I managed unforeseen circumstances, and I hope it will go well with my professor.
"Any update on who vandalised the rink?" Savannah asks the guys, and they shake their heads.
"Coach has a couple of leads he's following, but nothing solid yet," Grant says, unplugging the iron he and Gunnar have finished using and moving to sit on the floor behind me, pulling me against him, and I smile.
Cami jokingly gags beside us, and we both exchange eye rolls as she slowly adjusts to us being together, but I can tell Grant is getting impatient.
"You said you would get used to it." Grant leans around me to look at her.
"I said I would try not, that I have." She sticks her tongue out at him. "I'm sick of seeing your face every morning, if I'm honest."
Grant and I laugh because she is exaggerating. He hasn't been sleeping over every night, but it has been fairly often because his schedule is busier than mine. It's easier for him to crawl into my bed when he's finished than for me to wait up for him.
"Also, wherever he goes, they follow," Cami pouts, throwing her hand towards the other boys, whose eyes widen in fear as she brings them into her rant, and I laugh again.
"Gunnar showered here the other day when Bear was in ours," Adam smirks from the wall, loving to stir her up, and Cami whirls towards Gunnar, who looks like he's about to be set on fire.
"Woah, woah!" He puts his hands up in defence. "Grant said it was okay because he was here, and you were out."
"Grant doesn't live here," Cami screams, and Savannah and I are trying so hard not to laugh. "Oh, my god! Is that the day I said your hair smelled nice? Did you use my shampoo?"
"I just remembered I left the tap running in our apartment." Gunnar edges toward the door, and she gets up and follows him out the door.
"I appreciated you saying it smelled nice, though." We hear him stutter in panic as the door shuts behind them.
We all burst out in laughter.
