Page 96 of Somehow You Knew
“Oh no.” Laney groans. “Buts are never good.”
“Well, it’s not a bad but, more like a concerned but.”
“Okay…”
I sink into the chair behind my desk. “Well, for starters, I’m terrified to ask him what happens in three months when the six-month arrangement is up.”
Laney hums. “Yeah, that’s valid. But it’s only been a week since you two finally admitted your feelings, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then don’t freak out yet. Just keep enjoying the sex for the time being.”
“Oh, I am. But that’s the other problem.”
“Jesus, I knew this man was too good to be true. He’s a fast shooter, huh?”
“What? No!”
Laney laughs. “Okay, then what’s the issue?”
I look across my studio, wondering if I’m making a bigger deal out of this than I should be. “Twice now, right after we’ve had sex, Gage got dizzy.”
“Your pussy must be magical.”
I roll my eyes, even though she can’t see me. “I’m serious, Laney. I feel like something is off.”
“How many times has it happened?”
“Twice.”
“And how many times have you two had sex now?”
I try to count in my head, but it’s useless. “I’ve lost count, girl.”
She laughs. “Well, did you ask him about it?”
“I mean, I asked if he’s okay, and he just jokes that the sex was so good…”
“Getting dizzy after sex doesn’t sound too serious. I mean, they do exert themselves quite a bit, if I remember correctly. Although, it’s been awhile since I’ve enjoyed a dick that wasn’t made of silicone and battery-operated, and Seth lasted about five minutes each time, so I’m no expert.”
I cackle. “So I take it that you still have no plans to get drunk and come on to Fletcher again the next time you see him? I would almost bet money that he can fuck you better than Seth ever did.”
Laney snorts. ““I’m sure any man, not just Fletcher, would make that happen. But finding out would require me to talk to Fletcher, and the last thing I want to do is open up that wound again. This thing happening between you and Gage is different though…”
She doesn’t even have to finish her thought. “I know, Laney. You’re right. I’m sorry for the bad joke.”
“It’s okay. Just know that the chances of me ever coming on to him again are slim to none. Honestly, I hope he forgot about it and it’s not even a blip in his memory. Unlike for me, where I relive it late at night when I’m trying to fall asleep.” We share a laugh. “But hey, I need to get ready for my next client.”
Sighing, I lean back in my chair. “Okay, but do you really think I’m making too big of a deal with Gage’s dizzy spells?”
“If he’s not worried, I wouldn’t stress about it. Just enjoy the pierced dick for every other woman out there who has the fantasy but hasn’t found her unicorn yet.”
Laughing, I let out a heavy sigh. “Okay. Thanks for talking me off a ledge.”
We end the call and I turn in my chair, waking up my computer so I can do some work before my client arrives, trying like hell to stop overthinking everything that’s happened with Gage in the past week—because if I don’t, I have a feeling this might end up like every other relationship I’ve ever had—a disappointment.
